Marvel has listed the fighting ability of their own characters. Black Panther is a 5 out of 7. Characters like Coleen Wing and Misty Knight are a 6. I didn't look up everyone, but from what I saw its' a handful of 7s and a LOT of 6. How you want to handle two different characters with the same fighting ability rating ... that's up to you. But, based on Marvel's own ratings .... a character like Mantis would take out Black Panther with pure fighting ability. I don't know if you've ever seen MMA fights ... but most martial arts are straight up garbage. Knowing more garbage isn't impressive. Now, I think it's fair to question what the hell is going on with some of those results. Iron Fist trained his whole life ... and has mystic powers and he's a 6. And Misty Knight ... was just some person who became a cop and then started to work with Heroes For Hire ... and then also became just as good with raw fighting capability as Captain America ... and better than Daredevil. Feels silly. But, those aren't fan numbers. That's direct from Marvel.
The black panther is one of the greatest martial artists and hand-to-hand combat fighters that Marvel has with multiple martial arts disciplines under his belt. There's no way Electra is better than Tachala.

The characters are rated by Marvel. Scale of 7. Wolverine is rated as a 7 out of 7. There are VERY few characters with that rating. I looked up about a hundred characters and found about 6. Fans never do a good job of listing characters on a list like this. They're always crap.

Knight Thrasher is rated by Marvel as a 6 out of 7. I don't see more than a half dozen people rated as 7 out of 7 and there are a LOT of 6s on the their rated system. But, how did he not make the list? He's a pretty niche character. Absorbing Man, Misty Knight and Mantis are all also 6s.
@@ericm873 Actually, Wolverine trained as a samurai long before he became an X-man, heck, even before he gained his adamantium. He was already fighting around the world before Captain America was even born. I say that as someone who likes Cap more than Wolverine.
When Superman loses his powers and is effectively a regular person until he inevitably gets them back he would lose a fight to Batman or any other top level fighter. In the 2nd Chris Reeve movie a redneck truck driver beat him up.
Thor was rated by Marvel as having the fighting ability of 4 out of 7. So, he's tied with Thing, or Hulk, or Colossus or most other strong characters. Omega Red and Absorbing man are both 6 out of 7 and have enhanced strength. Those would be nightmares to deal with. But, Sabertooth is 7 out of 7 with enhanced strength. Other really strong heroes that manage to get out of a 4 rating are Guardian and Wonder Man who are both rated as a 5 out of 7.
Stick is rated as a 6 out of 7 by Marvel. He's definitely one of the best fighters in Marvel. But, there are a LOT of 6 characters. Coleen Wing, Knight Thrasher, Cable, Mantis .....
A LOT of those you list, are NOT Martial Artist. Some have some tried and true moves that work for them, but are not very Skilled😮 Thor ,Wolverine, Gladiator, Valkyrie, even Taskmaster. All good fighters, WHO RARELY USE TRUE SKILL. Especially the overrated Logan, who Brawls more than The Hulk😅. " Martial Artist" Constantly cultivate their skills, for adapting and even improvisation if needed. ANYBODY, even your average jail thug " Has a go to move".....Not the same thing.

There are manny different martial arts, some are weapion based and Wolverine is more skilled in those, and it thakes real skill to win against Silver Samurai in a fight (not sparing) with katanas, so Wolverine definrtly is a skilled martial artist, not as Iron Fist, but more skilled then Hulk, that is why there is a list. Nothing in current Marvel but early (post classic) X-men referred to it and his teaching/mentorship in hand to hand often. There is one 4 part series almost dedicated to his swordsmanship. He has also mastered most weapons and forms of transportation regardless of his dislike of flying. A hundred years of so of chasing combat around the globe can give one some interesting experiences.
In the movies he’s all rage. In the comics he fights there’s one trade paperback that really shows how nice he is. When he fights with his love Mariko’s father who is a samurai.
Read more of the comics. They've got stories where he does everything. Trained ninja? Yep, that's Wolverine. Trained samurai? Yep. That's him. Super spy like Black Widow or Hawkeye? Also how did you mess up Shang Chi’s father. Only the movie has it as the Mandarin. In comics it is Fu Manchu and since you chose Marvel Universe and reference the movies than it should of been known who his actual father is
You are correct and wrong. In the beginning Fu Manchu was Shang Chi's father. But when Mavel lost the rights to the Sax Rohmer source material the name of the father had to be changed. Zheng Zu is now the name when refering to Shang Chi's father

Anybody mention Spider-man? Even if he isn’t trained specifically, his spider enhancement is off the charts. Cap has photographic memory and studies every weakness ahead of conflict with opponents (unlike Batman who needs time) and has world war and space experience.
Your list is utter bullshit.. Black panther has fought wolverine 4 times & he won 3 times with 1 stalemate Black panther without the vibranium suit beat a team of daredfevil, Electra & the punisher. He has beaten toastmaster 2 times, 1st he 1 shotted him & without the vibranium suit he stomped him again even when he had help. While holding back he defeated a bloodlusted amped Ironfist. He would be CRUSHED by someone like Guardian or Wonder Man (who are stronger, more durable, and fight just as well). If you want to say that Black Panther with a fighting ability of 5 is a better fighter than .... Kitty Pryde or Daredevil who have the same fighting ability .. that's all you.
I guess for a hybrid skill/power list this is a fair representation vs top 10. I'm not sure how most of these stand against most cosmic level beings in hand to hand ie powerful martial arts. If we are talking skilled martial artists, strip all characters to basic equal human and which would win would be a great list to hear and debate. The worst list is the hybrid list where characters with abilities and high level hand to hand skills (Daredevil, Wolverine, Captain American, Black Panther, even Iron Fist etc.) making them so hard to compare as every 10yrs or so a different character performs some new feat or beats someone they previously lost too. More than anything I say don't discount beings with long life lots of hand to hand combat experience regardless of how crude their styles seem or how often they seemed to rely on a power. It was a bit disappointing to not see Gamora or Mantis on this type of hybrid list that went outside the box enough to find a deserving Champion.

If you are truly basing this on being the "strongest" in martial arts, then Hercules should be #2, maybe even tied for #1 as he was the inventor of Pankration, which is basically the Greek form of MMA. Inventing an all-encompassing form of fighting fighting shows just how skilled his is as well.

Sabertooth is also rated at 7 for fighting but only a 4 on strength. We've seen how often the fighting ability of captain america (6 fighting, 3 strength) has helped him to survive characters like the hulk (4 fighting, 7 strength). So, a character like Ares should pretty much destroy anyone he ever physically fights with, and it shouldn't even be close. Hercules is just rated at 4. So, he's like Moonknight and Cyclops and Spider Man. You don't have to like it ... but these are the official marvel numbers.

I'd lead pretty heavily towards someone like Ares who has the same fighting ability but also way more durability and strength and speed than the others.

I also read the classic avengers stories in reprints (obviously in the 80s and 90s when I collected those were farther along). 1) marvel has ratings for their own characters at their own site. You are welcome to argue with marvel about how they rate their own characters. 2) if I recall correctly the scale they use is really dumb and a rating of 7 means something like “has mastered all known forms of combat” or something absurd. And, that is a thing they attributed Wolverine with in multiple different places. 3) they had ratings for characters in various places. I know that the 1992 X-men comic book cards had ratings that including fighting ability and Wolverine was rated 7 out of 7. I can’t really show you the one I have, but, you can do an image search for it. One person beating another doesn’t really matter. The person who wins is just who the writer wants to win to progress the story. Squirrel Girl beat Thanos …. None of that matters. Most comics have terrible writing and bad editing. You’ve seen MMA fights? One hit is enough to knock a person out. A liver shot (if you haven’t seen that, look for a video on it), or a head shot. In those fights they hit each other over and over. Any one of those shots could be a knockout at any moment. That doesn’t mean one is a better fighter, that means one beat the other on that one day. It’s obviously hard to say all three of these characters can take a hit from the Hulk and also by the way a person without any super strength can also hurt them meaningfully. That’s absurd (in both directions). The scale they use is bad because over the last 35 years as MMA has become popular we see that most fighting styles are garbage. So, knowing more garbage fighting styles than other people is a stupid metric. It’s also really clear that all three would pretty much be tied in raw fighting ability. Wolverine has been fighting and training for over a hundred years (he’s a super spy, and a ninja and a samurai and a dozen other things). Cap is focused and loves to train. Since waking up he would have made a point to learn as much as he could. Black Panther has generations of knowledge (of questionable value) and also has the ability to train with the best in the world. Cap and Black Panther are about equal at peak human ability. Stronger, more agile, and faster than Wolverine. Wolverine heals from bullets in moments, a punch is nothing and his bones are lined with metal so punching him is like punching a metal wall with a little leather over the top, and being hit by him is like being hit by a metal pole with a little leather over the top. If they’re all equal in ability, the edge would go to Wolverine with the unfair innate advantage of being more than human. Even at peak human ability they would get tired first. They cannot even possibly break his limbs with locks or holds. The minor difference in physical capability wouldn’t amount to much when Wolverine basically cannot be damaged by them. Do you know how often professional boxers and fighters break their hands in fights? It’s insanely common (gloves protect hands, not faces and they STILL break all the time). They’re not only hitting a face, but a METAL one. Even if the serum and heart shaped herb give them mildly increased healing and durability it wouldn’t be enough. It’s not a fair fight. Not if you think about it logically. And also marvel says so. And also, I read lots of the comics.

Captain America is stated to be the ultimate human fighting machine in the official Marvel Roleplaying game, which quantifies the attributes and abilities of every hero and villain that existed, as of the date it came out. Only nonhumans with greater than mortal abilities can fight better than Captain America. With characters like Thor, who has greater abilities, plus an extremely long lifetime of experience, an even higher level is possible. Wolverine is explicitly placed a level below Captain America. Therefore, your list is meaningless.

Marvel has rated their characters for fighting ability. Black Panther is rated (by Marvel ... not fans) as 5 out of 7. So, he's tied with people like Blade and Wong. But, not as good as people like Mantis, or Black Widow.
I agree with your choice of number one. But some of the honorable mentions are better than some of your top ten choices. And you seem to forget that the Black Panther possesses martial arts knowledge spanning millennia.

Knight Thrasher is rated by Marvel as a 6 out of 7. I don't see more than a half dozen people rated as 7 out of 7 and there are a LOT of 6s on the their rated system.

When Superman loses his powers and is effectively a regular person until he inevitably gets them back he would lose a fight to Batman or any other top level fighter. In the 2nd Chris Reeve movie a redneck truck driver beat him up.
Thor was rated by Marvel as having the fighting ability of 4 out of 7. So, he's tied with Thing, or Hulk, or Colossus or most other strong characters.
Omega Red and Absorbing man are both 6 out of 7 and have enhanced strength. Those would be nightmares to deal with. But, Sabertooth is 7 out of 7 with enhanced strength.
Other really strong heroes that manage to get out of a 4 rating are Guardian and Wonder Man who are both rated as a 5 out of 7.

Nothing in current Marvel but early (post classic) X-men referred to it and his teaching/mentorship in hand to hand often. There is one 4 part series almost dedicated to his swordsmanship. He has also mastered most weapons and forms of transportation regardless of his dislike of flying. A hundred years of so of chasing combat around the globe can give one some interesting experiences.
In the movies he’s all rage. In the comics he fights there’s one trade paperback that really shows how nice he is. When he fights with his love Mariko’s father who is a samurai.
Read more of the comics. They've got stories where he does everything. Trained ninja? Yep, that's Wolverine. Trained samurai? Yep. That's him. Super spy like Black Widow or Hawkeye? Yep, he's done that. As far back as the 90's they credited him with "knowing every martial art" or whatever nonsense.

Anybody mention Spider-man? Even if he isn’t trained specifically, his spider enhancement is off the charts. Cap has photographic memory and studies every weakness ahead of conflict with opponents (unlike Batman who needs time) and has world war and space experience.

I don't know if you know this ... but these are just comic books man, Calm down. Most of the writing is pretty trash. They have one person win because the writer wants it that way, not because it has any meaning over what would actually happen if each character was represented the way they were intended.

Black Panther is down at 5. He's about tied with Blade, Wong, Daredevil. He would be CRUSHED by someone like Guardian or Wonder Man (who are stronger, more durable, and fight just as well). Would also be crushed by most characters with a 6 fighting rating (like Mantis, Colleen Wing, Absorbing Man, Night Thrasher, Omega Red ....) and absolutely slaughtered by characters with a 7 rating (like Sabertooth, Crossbones, Ares, Wolverine, Mandarin, Shang-Chi).
If you want to say that Black Panther with a fighting ability of 5 is a better fighter than .... Kitty Pryde or Daredevil who have the same fighting ability .. that's all you.

I guess for a hybrid skill/power list this is a fair representation vs top 10. I'm not sure how most of these stand against most cosmic level beings in hand to hand ie powerful martial arts. If we are talking skilled martial artists, strip all characters to basic equal human and which would win would be a great list to hear and debate. The worst list is the hybrid list where characters with abilities and high level hand to hand skills (Daredevil, Wolverine, Captain American, Black Panther, even Iron Fist etc.) making them so hard to compare as every 10yrs or so a different character performs some new feat or beats someone they previously lost too. More than anything I say don't discount beings with long life lots of hand to hand combat experience regardless of how crude their styles seem or how often they seemed to rely on a power. It was a bit disappointing to not see Gamora or Mantis on this type of hybrid list that went outside the box enough to find a deserving Champion.

If you are truly basing this on being the "strongest" in martial arts, then Hercules should be #2, maybe even tied for #1 as he was the inventor of Pankration, which is basically the Greek form of MMA. Inventing an all-encompassing form of fighting fighting shows just how skilled his is as well.

We've seen how often the fighting ability of captain america (6 fighting, 3 strength) has helped him to survive characters like the hulk (4 fighting, 7 strength).
So, a character like Ares should pretty much destroy anyone he ever physically fights with, and it shouldn't even be close.
Hercules is just rated at 4. So, he's like Moonknight and Cyclops and Spider Man.

If you want to fight about which character can beat which other character that's all you. It's mostly just bad writing in comics where some poorly paid writer decides hero A will beat hero B because that's what they want for their story (it's really not deeper than that, man).
If you want to talk about raw capabilities ... you have to use the numbers Marvel provides.
So, characters like Ares and Sabertooth and a handful of others should all be at the top. Shang-Chi, Mandarin, Wolverine, Crossbones ... there aren't many rated as a 7. How you want to separate one from another is all you .... I'd lead pretty heavily towards someone like Ares who has the same fighting ability but also way more durability and strength and speed than the others.
Seeing Shang Chi in 3D was so freaking cool! Not as great as MoM but gosh darn close. The Marvels in 3D was also cool.

I also read the classic avengers stories in reprints (obviously in the 80s and 90s when I collected those were farther along).
1) marvel has ratings for their own characters at their own site. You are welcome to argue with marvel about how they rate their own characters.
2) if I recall correctly the scale they use is really dumb and a rating of 7 means something like “has mastered all known forms of combat” or something absurd. And, that is a thing they attributed Wolverine with in multiple different places.
3) they had ratings for characters in various places. I know that the 1992 X-men comic book cards had ratings that including fighting ability and Wolverine was rated 7 out of 7. I can’t really show you the one I have, but, you can do an image search for it.
One person beating another doesn’t really matter. The person who wins is just who the writer wants to win to progress the story. Squirrel Girl beat Thanos …. None of that matters. Most comics have terrible writing and bad editing.
You’ve seen MMA fights? One hit is enough to knock a person out. A liver shot (if you haven’t seen that, look for a video on it), or a head shot. In those fights they hit each other over and over. Any one of those shots could be a knockout at any moment. That doesn’t mean one is a better fighter, that means one beat the other on that one day.
It’s obviously hard to say all three of these characters can take a hit from the Hulk and also by the way a person without any super strength can also hurt them meaningfully. That’s absurd (in both directions).
The scale they use is bad because over the last 35 years as MMA has become popular we see that most fighting styles are garbage. So, knowing more garbage fighting styles than other people is a stupid metric.
It’s also really clear that all three would pretty much be tied in raw fighting ability. Wolverine has been fighting and training for over a hundred years (he’s a super spy, and a ninja and a samurai and a dozen other things). Cap is focused and loves to train. Since waking up he would have made a point to learn as much as he could. Black Panther has generations of knowledge (of questionable value) and also has the ability to train with the best in the world. Cap and Black Panther are about equal at peak human ability. Stronger, more agile, and faster than Wolverine. Wolverine heals from bullets in moments, a punch is nothing and his bones are lined with metal so punching him is like punching a metal wall with a little leather over the top, and being hit by him is like being hit by a metal pole with a little leather over the top.
If they’re all equal in ability, the edge would go to Wolverine with the unfair innate advantage of being more than human. Even at peak human ability they would get tired first. They cannot even possibly break his limbs with locks or holds. The minor difference in physical capability wouldn’t amount to much when Wolverine basically cannot be damaged by them.
Do you know how often professional boxers and fighters break their hands in fights? It’s insanely common (gloves protect hands, not faces and they STILL break all the time). They’re not only hitting a face, but a METAL one. Even if the serum and heart shaped herb give them mildly increased healing and durability it wouldn’t be enough.
It’s not a fair fight. Not if you think about it logically. And also marvel says so. And also, I read lots of the comics.

Task Master " Imitates" but rarely " innovates", which is WHY he loses so much😅 Nope. Slatterus is powerful, and a good Boxer but take away his " Gem" and She Hulk outfights him. NOPE AGAIN. ....Cap, Daredevil, Elektra Shang Chi, Iron Fist, Tchalla, Midnight and Cat( Shang chi rivals, just as skilled), Black Widow and the last spot?? Maybe Karnak. Maybe Gamora😮 The REASON Silver Samurai, Mandarin, Logan and others ARE NOT IS BECAUSE THEY ARE POWERED AND THUS DON'T HAVE TO WORK AS HARD TO BE AS SKILLED....And they are NOT. The characters I named are ALWAYS shown training, always beating foes more powerful.....Stick is too old. Doesn't have the Physicality to TRULY match an Elektra or Daredevil. MY List is Better.😊

I'm guessing you want to look at someone like Ares who is a 7. Mandarin 7. Crossbones 7. Wolverine 7. Sabertooth 7. Shang-Chi 7.
I don't think anyone who is rated as a 5 even belongs in the conversation (people like Black Panther and Daredevil).
