This is the Sukhoi Su-37, a Russian experimental single-seat, super-manoeuvrable multirole jet fighter, designed by Sukhoi. It looks like any other fighter, but it can perform impossible manoeuvres. A further development of the original Su-27 "Flanker", it was modified from the first-generation Su-35 prototypes. The Su-37 features an upgraded avionic suite and fire-control system, but its most notable additions are the thrust-vectoring nozzles.
Fighter aircraft are traditionally fast but very heavy, which makes them difficult to turn. The Sukhoi Su-37 can perform heart-stopping manoeuvres that defy gravity. For any other fighter these manoeuvres would be well beyond their flight envelope. They would stall and crash. Thrust vectoring and small carnard wings allow the pilot to throw the Su-37 around the skies like an aerobatics plane. Twenty tonnes of military metal can reverse direction instantly. This amazing agility would give it a decisive edge in combat. On its first public appearance its pilot issued and open challenge to dogfight against all comers, no one took up the offer.

It wouldn't be able to perform the same with a full load it's a modded su27. And su27 has to "slowdown" with a full load.
The f18 is one of the few planes that can do all the same specs, climb. Takeoff. Turn, just as well empty or fully stocked. Which is why I prefer American planes. Better tech. Space age really.

The Sukhoi Su-37 Terminator is exceptional same as the SuT-50.
We will see if the 50 can fill the shoes of it's older sibling but so far it seems as though stealth has demanded a reduction in aerodynamic characteristics.
This is universal for all nations of course, shapes that are good against radar and shapes that cut through the air are not entirely compatible.
For this reason the Su-37 may be the last and greatest of the conventional jet aircraft, not to be ever eclipsed because no one will build anything like it.
Like the SR-71, it has been replaced by the advance of technology but will never be diminished as an example of it's type.
Like finding the best sword ever created by man today when guns are dominant. Only those who understand can truly appreciate just how incredible it's achievement is.
The shape of the su-37 is simply it's strength and I have no doubt that future aircraft will borrow it's influence for centuries to come

i worked at sukhoi or a time and their "stealth tech" is shit, can hardly be considered stealth, incapable of making a smooth shell, rivets that are sinked or even rivetless, every felon has a different radar cross section, varying from .005 to .15 .... same thrust vectoring issues, ... im so glad that i ditched that company before the end of my contract. my two, soon three degrees are too valuable to explain monkeys how to throw rocks.

The Su-47 will always be my favorite, but the Su-37 is an amazing aircraft too.
It is nothing compared to an F-15EX and can't do anything against an F-35 or F-22. It is still using analog starboard and its engines are old thrustvector technology. If the Russians are willing to compete with the West they will have to harder and faster. There is of course what everyone else is doing negotiations but at a critical stage it will be a nuisance.

It is odd to say but it is such a shame things evolved to stealth which is the opposite of such graceful shapes for aerodynamics.

However with their 3d thrust vectoring the pilot can just flip the plane over and return back to normal flight. While other fighters would simply fall out of the sky uncontrollably.

Sad it didn’t go into production, the idea was truly amazing and with the su47. Phenomenal maneuverability and the latest avionics, I can really appreciate this aircraft. Just the way it’s designed creates cloud vortexes on it’s wings, I love every fighter Sukhoi has created.

It did, it's the production Su-35, they just removed the canards.
The Su-37 is basically just the Su-27M (prototype Su-35) fitted with 3D Thrust vectoring engines.
Actually the su 30sm and sm2 is basically has canards and 3d thrust vectoring like 37 so it's basically in production

Sky Eye That's one thing that the Raptor and F-35 have is stealth. Stealth makes it harder for other fighters to lock-on with missiles and they can avoid radar detection. You won't ever see the Su-37 anyways, the plans were stopped when they found problems in the jet.

The latest SUs are without a doubt the most impressive fighters out there in terms of manouverability and sheer beauty!
This is why stealth and long-range strategic strikes are so relevant when it comes to air superiority nowadays. Pilots know that the Flankers are practically indomitable in a dogfight. It's likely that not even a Raptor could survive a face-off against a Flanker; its thrust-vectoring is too powerful.
A Raptor utterly wipes the floor with any flanker in a dogfight. Air show manoeuvres like this are utterly useless in a dogfight while the Raptor can match all of these manoeuvres it is even better at sustaining turns and has way better tech.
@@hresvelgr7193The F-22 doesn't have any tech advantage in a Dogfight. The main features that are making default to all the Flankers are their lack of stealth, weak radar and optronic systems, not allowing them to track as much targets as an F-22, noor shooting precision shots from very long distance. But as soon as both aircrafts are in visual range, all these technology lacks are irrevelant. The Sukhoi Flanker family do have a superiority in very close combat because it doesn't have to hide its missiles since it is not stealth, so it can carry a lot more. Their hypermaneuvrability have them not to lose as much cinetic power on maneuvers, having them an guaranteed upper position against any other Aircraft.
You have to understand that no engineer can make miracles. By making the F-22 the most stealth fighter in the world, they had to sacrifice a lot in other aspects of the Aircraft. If it is designed to be the most stealth fighter ever, it just can't be at the same time the best Dogfighter in the world, while Russians make their planes to be the best in DogFight. Look at the Su-57 : the Russians couldn't make it as much stealthy as the F-22 AND as much maneuvrable as a Flanker. So they made up their choice and the Su-57 isn't as stealthy. That's it.
F22 with aim 9x would still shit on su37. But if all systems were to somehow fail in both planes and they engage in a ww2 style dogfight, then sure su 37 may come out on top.
I'm thoroughly convinced that this may be the best fighter aircraft ever made. Hats off to Russia.

That's all this plane IS good for is display. If it decided to stall itself in mid flight like in this video it would have two AA missiles slammed into it's back.
***** Here's the problem, F-22s have been dispatched for any potential air to air confrontation and have closed in on all targets (even Russian fighters) with no issue. This plane right here has had the same verticals capabilities tested on U.S. F-15, F-16, and F-18s by NASA, America has been aware of this capability for decades and decided it wouldn't last in the 21st century. The F-22 is BVR fighter meaning while this thing is stalling it self in mid flight an invisible F-22 is unloading AIM-120 AMRAAM at it which you could dodge one if you're extremely lucky but you won't dodge the second. On the same note even if it came down to F-15s and 16s they fly in pairs so if one of these SUs were to get around one the wing man of either 15 and 16 would, again, slam AA missiles into it's back. And last time I checked there is less than 40 of these planes in existence before being cancelled. Russian pilots don't scare American pilots I hate to break it to you but Russia can act like fools around U.S. Ships in the Black Sea all they want but when there is an armed American fighter warning them that they are on the verge of killing them they tend to not stick around.

Airframe performance alone is no magic bullet if the pilots don’t know how to get the most from it. One of The best historical examples of this is when the Israeli Air Force annihilated the Arab air forces during the Six Day War even though, on paper, the Arabs had the superior aircraft. Pilot training, pal, is the decisive factor.

Luckily you can. Can't say the same about the su-37 though.
F22 doesn't need to do that. It would destroy an SU-37 before the SU-37 would know it's even being targeted. SU-37 was a good acrobatics plane until it crashed in 2002, and was then discontinued lol. A plane that no longer exists cannot do anything.

@@JA-rn5qv that's exactly why the su 57 has the izdeliye 30 engines with a 3D thrust vector. I mean I understand, yea it is close to impossible to detect the raptor in BVR engagements, but the moment it locks the 57, it will know EXACTLY where the raptor is. And given it's Max speed and manoeverability it would easily be able to chase it down and shoot it after outrunning the incoming AIMs
