This is the best display of 3D manoeuvrability that I’ve ever watched in a full sized jet. Amazing to the point it’s almost unbelievable to see it happening.
@@picklewiickle.1583 What a stupid argument! Try to hit a sitting duck when you are shooting from a fast moving position (from a galopping racehorse's back for instance...) when you are not able to reduce your own speed! No chance at all.
When you think about how impressive these manouvers are, remember all the g-forces the pilot has to conquer at the same time. It's an intense workout up there just battling the g-forces. Pretty insane.
Pilot flys with such grace and elegance, much like a premiere ballerina. I was transfixed, focusing on his maneuvers not even blinking. Definitely a beautiful thing to view, as it made me wish I could have experienced been there in person.

camoland Absolutely! We pilots are only part of the circus. We couldnt fly without the ground crew, engineers and ATC, I am very impressed with these beasts, the thrust vectoring capability is amazing.
I have been there in 2006 - but I wasn't on the official area of the exhibition but on the other side of the airport, where the pilots go to do their turns to go back to the main display area as it isn't allowed at german airshows to do maneuvers flying in direction of the crowd after the Ramstein accident. So I was standing right under the MIG when the pilot did all the - at this time in 2006 - new post stall maneuvers. And I couldn't believe what I saw happening there right above me. I have a pilots license myself but this was never just expectable to "fly" an aircraft just like that. There were the SU's a year later bringing the OVT technic in series but as there was no RUclips at these days were you could just watch a video of this before it was absolutely new for all of us. And when I now see this I feel the same adrenalin rushing in me as I did 16 years ago. It is just amazing! It's like a ballet in the skies! It's pure arts!
Absolutely amazing! This pilot must be made of steel to pull those consistent heavy G maneuvers and to top it all off, you have the unmatched, unique beauty of russian styling and engineering.
Best about all of these are not the pilot ability to resist G force, not the maneuver itself. But the pilot balls to execute all of these crazy maneuvers in such a low altitude

Agreed - the Mig-29 was originally designed to take 12+G's according to some old documentaries -- the 29 might not be as sexy as most modern aircraft but in 80's and 90's they were considered some of the most maneuverable aircraft in the world - even according to US pilots.
you could always take up RC flying as a hobby. jets are hard to fly so it will take a few years of practice with slower easy to fly planes. but the jets are so cool.

The F16 and F20 being the exception, the MIG29 is the most beautiful fighter jet to take to the skies. The maneuvers displayed in this video only amplify how incredible this aircraft truly is and so too are the people and pilots that bring this engineering marvel to life.
Not a machine of which Greta Thunberg would approve, I wager. Watching this it's almost a pity that aerial dogfights are pretty much a thing of the past, as dueling is what these aircraft are supremely good at - but of course it is better that we can appreciate them at air shows rather than have them actually battling it out in the skies above. These are magnificent machines, and their pilots are supremely skillful and courageous people, and let's hope they all lead peaceful lives.

@@ALP839 You guys are nuts. The term "diesel" specifically refers to an internal combustion engine process. A jet engine turbine is an entirely different animal.
The Russian equipment is also very robust, and easy to maintain. They are all also able to operate off grass fields and temporary rough air strips. I think they would make a much harder foe than many would give them credit for. In any long drawn out conflict, having very high tech, sophisticated, sensitive, high maintenance costly equipment becomes a substantial handicap.
I'm sure the airframe must be strong, but the thrust vectoring allows you to make turns with pulling less G forces. Imagine a hand pushing the back of the jet left and right, up and down and making it turn. The wings do less work, and the plane can turn while it isn't even moving forward. It can turn even if it is just falling from the sky.

Bei der MAKS Airshow in Moskau 2005 sah ich diese MiG 29 OVT Version zum ersten mal. Ich habe aber nicht damit gerechnet Dass ich sie 2006 bei der ILA in Berlin sowie beim Royal International Air Tattoo in Fairford gleich zweimal sehen würde. In Moskau zum Beispiel kam man 2005 zwar vom Blickwinkel her sehr nah dran in Berlin war teilweise ein Fernglas nötig um einige Manöver sehen zu können, Aber in Fairford stand ich Gott sei dank auf der Gegenüberliegenden Seite des Zuschauerbereiches auf der Nordseite des Flugplatzes. Dort konnte ich Optisch kein Flugmanöver verpassen, Aber wir Insider wissen dass von der Zuschauerseite weitestgehend viele Flugmanöver untergehen als Unter der Displayachse.

Trusters that change vector and help with manuvers, plus MiG29 engines are overkill for plane of that size

Bei der MAKS Airshow in Moskau 2005 sah ich diese MiG 29 OVT Version zum ersten mal. Ich habe aber nicht damit gerechnet Dass ich sie 2006 bei der ILA in Berlin sowie beim Royal International Air Tattoo in Fairford gleich zweimal sehen würde. In Moskau zum Beispiel kam man 2005 zwar vom Blickwinkel her sehr nah dran in Berlin war teilweise ein Fernglas nötig um einige Manöver sehen zu können, Aber in Fairford stand ich Gott sei dank auf der Gegenüberliegenden Seite des Zuschauerbereiches auf der Nordseite des Flugplatzes. Dort konnte ich Optisch kein Flugmanöver verpassen, Aber wir Insider wissen dass von der Zuschauerseite weitestgehend viele Flugmanöver untergehen als Unter der Displayachse.
