horizon forbidden west vs the last of us 2 details comparison ps5 Игры
Are there any other games you'd like to see me compare? If so, comment which ones! :)
This video took way more time and effort than I thought it would, so I hope you at least enjoy it! 😅
Horizon forbidden West is an incredibly detailed game makes sense it took so much time
thank you for your effort! this was quite insightful! regardless of Console Gen or Engine, it really shows that devs really have to consider how they spend their time developing their game, some details might need to be dumbed down and other´s can be more focused on. I really admire both works and let´s me think, how far we´ve come and what future gaming might bring.
Let’s do the usual vdos rather than comparing games from different generation.
You should do HFW vs RDR2
Where is part 1
These two games are 2 years apart and it shows a little, but both are absolutely breath-taking and I am happy that all the artists and designers that worked on these games get to show their best work.
They're also two different generations. I'm still on a PS4 Pro and my version of Horizon does not look like that
The last of us 2 is the full power of ps4
@@JesusGonzalez-te8xg horizon looks better though and was also primarily developed for ps4, literally all the improvements in this video are available on the ps4 version of the game with the sole exception being the peach fuzz on aloys face
@@370.y Get. Over. It. It's been almost 2 years.
@@370.y You stuck in 2020 or sum? Nobody cares now, move on🤡
1:15 when the TLOU music starts, it immediately hits right in the feelings. Both are fantastic games!
Horizon main theme gets you right in the feels as well, but TLOU not only gets you right in the feels, but compresses them and puts them into an isolator, and if you want to feel something back again you must get those compressed feels out somehow. (I dont know if it was clear, but TLOU puts me in a state where its really hard to get back into your normal state once you hear the music)
It's so powerful that just listening at three notes of the TLOU2's music after so much time, I immediately felt a fraction of the emotion I felt more than a year ago, and it really hitted in the feelings
@@timsonss Same man just same
@@eliasbonafe9236 yes exactly! gustavo santaolalla is a master of his work, its incredible how only one second of a song can make you feel so much
Tlous 2 isnt a fantastic game
While Forbidden West is a technologically a bit more immaculate than The Last of Us Part II which is also a bit more impressive than the former, the fact that they are both so technologically advanced in various ways is just incredible. The teams working on these games deserve every bit of praise.
There like neck and neck when it comes to the small details, some things HFW does better, some things TLOU 2 do better.
But don’t forget TLOU2 is a PS4 game. With PS5’s power, the next TLOU will blow the completion out of water.
Just wait for tlou part 3 and burning shores
Looking at Horizon's visuals just fills me with motivation to become an environment artist even more! Something to look up to those two games

I love that TLOU2 is still being used in comparisons with next gen games. Shows how talented Naughty Dog is, and good blown away we'll likely be my their next AAA title at the end of this gen.
TLOU2 is also a next gen game. It received a free PS5 upgrade several months back
@@raihanelhakeem-bey8441 ps4 games upgraded to ps5 do not look as good as games developed specifically for the ps5
Horizon is not a next gen title is cross gen just like tlou 2 and not only it looks better on ps4 than tlou it’s also an open world game
Horizon was literally developed mostly for ps4 and the biggest improvement on the ps5 is the higher resolution, performance mode and the extra detail on the textures like the peach fuzz on aloys face
@@craigscraig4000 Horizon is not new generation, it's crossgen.
Horizon 2 is just insane, Guerilla and Naughty Dogs are amazing. Can't wait to see TLOU 3 !
That's gonna be the Best Game of the world LOLLK
RDR3 gonna kill both of them
Rdr is to boring , it s so realistic but its boring because its slow
I hope TLOU 3 never sees the light of day
I hope TLOU3 sees the light of the day. And I hope it's the next game they're planning to release. People who could not appreciate the amazing storytelling and mindblowing game mechanics of the second game are just hypocrites and little crybabies. It felt real, all the emotions, expressions of the characters, physics. It just had to grab you into the world. Can't forget about the section where you're in the office with the stalkers. I've never had chills in a game before, but this..
I love the detail that Ellie's breathing changes depending on whether she's tired from running, hurt or relaxed. I love both games, but I think TLOUII is way more polished on character details and reactions.
HFW has those animations as well.
@@abellau4105 not as detailed. Horizon has good animations. But for example in TLOU, sound design makes you kinda able to feel Ellie's breathing and heartbeat. It's different.
There's a video on YT about the contextual animations and breathing system from the developers of TLOU2.
WOWW YOU DON'T READ MY PROFILE PICTURE
@@karlabravo8351 that might be so, but horizon is a game several times bigger that TLOU
@@giancarloamc without a doubt. But in the mechanics for the characters and animations / reactions and contextual animations Naughty Dog really comes on top. Still Horizon is a pretty good second place and a massive improvement from HZD.

HFW has surprisingly a lot more *fidelity* even though it's much larger in scale, but TLOU has more artist *polish* because it's smaller.
HZD/HFW hair always makes me laugh because it has a mind of it's own... even when Aloy is standing still, it's moving like she was walking
I honestly prefer Horizon over TLOU, but in terms of small details like that Naughty Dog absolutely killed it with TLOU 2
Open world vs linear game, bro.
@@brunotechinvest And 2 years apart, and Horizon is created for PS5 as TLOU2 is created on PS4. So makes sense that Horizon looks sharper and has higher resolution textures.
Both games look amazing though...
@@pw9600 Horizon FW is unrealistic colorful and people can say it's more beautiful because of the colors and pretty views but it does not have more detail and has much copy paste stuff. Same looking camps, caves and cauldrons everywhere while the Last of Us 2 has unique and different looking locations, buildings and is more realistic. Horizon has higher res textures and stuff but the E3 2018 Last of us 2 Demo stomps almost everything out there still in 2022. What I love most about TLoU 2 (graphics -wise) is how human the characters' looks and expressions are - which is a testament to both how talented the cast are as well as how devoted and skilled the devs are. Also the lines during the cutscenes and small talks during the gameplay feel so natural that its almost like watching real people interact in real life
Great comparison. With your attention to get detail, we were able to see how well talented both studios are.
8:53 Storm, Great comparison btw love how you presented it, I know tlou2 was 2 years ago but HFW is open world and the map is insanely huge, to have these graphics and details it’s still insane.
People kinda wrongly assume that if game is open world, it's way more work to code individual bahaviours, physics, etc. These mechanics are usually totally independent of the rest and might work in game of any scale/scope. It's not that you script it individually for every single object ;)
I appreciate you only showing standard areas in Horizon, been trying to avoid anything before I actually play it so this is the first I’m seeing the game for the most part haha the eye ball comparison makes me feel like Horizon looks better, but Last of Us has those extra details, and the scene shooting arrows into the water with Ellie looks so good. The water is incredibly realistic.
Aloy “dies” and all this Horizon stuff is just a dream and Aloy wakes up in modern day America 2022. 🤷🏻♂️ #forbidenwestspoiler

@@abdmo7575 yeah they look pretty similar tbh
HFW looks more beautiful and breathtaking but TLOU2 looks more realistic and detailed
Not more detailed, did you look at the face comparison 😂
In Horizon the whole planet was reduced to barren rock and then terraformed by an artificial intelligence over hundreds of years so that's why it looks different and not realistic.
While i like HFWs hair physics more i think TLOU 2s hair behaves more realistic.
But both games have a crazy amount of Detail GG and Naughty Dog are top tier developers.
But for some reason Finger nails and weapon models look weird and low res sometimes in HFW.
Arkham Knight from 2015 looks much better in this case.
Another top tier developer for graphics, details, physics, destruction and character models, Rocksteady studios.
I would like to see it in comparison to sonys games.
Great comparison, only watched it halfway through bc i havent reached the coast yet in HFW

Every developer should look up to TLOU PART II in terms of technical achievements. The very existence of this piece of software on PS4 is mind-blowing. Stable 30 FPS, in addition to amount of interactions and the complexity of animations and physics, then we have stunning visuals by which Naughty Dog set the benchmark for themselves to beat yet again. Just how they set the benchmark back in 2013. While Horizon does look visually better, which is understandable, since both games have 2 years between them, in most tech aspects TLOU gets the upper hand, however credit is due Guerilla made it look the best they could have on PS4 as well.

@@onma07ksa A girl wanting to be a boy is barely important in the story, its just part of his character. Abbys muscles arent even that big, shes just tall. Ellie being gay was revealed in the first game. Your argument means nothing
@@onma07ksa The game don't even try to push an agenda, only in the 2nd time playing I get that Lev was gay or whatever, it's so subtle. TLOU2 does something that i never had before with a game, it makes us see both sides of the story, abby is not bad, i would do the same if someone killed my father, who is about to discover the cure of everything is happening! the game often left me literally shaking, not with fear, but with the way the narrative made me complicit in events. The characters' facial expressions are so good and convincing that I felt how brutal the post-apocalyptic world is. The game doesn’t let us feel the satisfaction of revenge on both sides (ellie and abby) we see that they are destroyed by their seek for revenge, both characters lose everything, and I thought it was phenomenal how the world also destroys itself around the characters while the evolution story of the game, (bad weather that intensifies all around) for me the plot was equally deep, dense and audacious, telling a different and realistic story of the world, of how we can not be the protagonists / good guys.
Fantastic Games Indeed! LastOfUs2 was way ahead of other games from gameplay, to environment details, and faces. Still one of the best looking games in my memory. HorizonForbiddenWest is stunning and you can see the improvment of PS5, snow, underwater and forests are crazy to expolre! Both not perfect but it comes all together very well, so it almost feels real.

Ya this is tough. You are comparing a game that are a couple years apart and on 2 different systems. Then you have art direction, purpose of mechanics, what is actually realistic and what people think is realistic, short hair vs long hair etc. To me, it's not really a good comparison but that being said, both of them are absolutely stunning and they are some examples of good developers putting the time and effort into small details when a lot of video game companies don't do. I always appreciate when they do this, little details matter
I am so happy to see in the comments so many compliments to The last of us 2 (I love this community), It is one of the most beautiful and detailed games I have ever played, it will remain in my heart for a lifetime. I'm really sorry for anyone who says it sucks just because the plot doesn't go the way they wanted (kids). But I am sure that in time it will be remembered by all as a majestic game.
Its definitely the type of the game that gets better over time.
Just wait a few years and guess what, a lot more people will be praising it.

Great video
Both are amazing. Some of these details were the result of thousands of hours of work, and most players would probably never notice. But the effect of dozens of these little touches just makes the games so immersive. Kudos to both development teams!
The texture resolutions of HFW are out of this world, the best I have seen in any game...
Both games excel in what they do and everyone who took part in developing them should be absolutely proud!
Considering the massive scale of the open world in Horizon, the amount of detail they put in is so amazing. TLOU2 is a way more linear path and therefore they can focus more on the smaller details. Both games are superb though and they both deserve to be played on PS5 rather than PS4, so they can be seen in all their glory. And just imagine what it's gonna look like when they get their inevitable PC ports :O
We are talking about PS4 vs PS5 here. Plus both games are fairly different in theme as well. I think they are both amazing.
but tbh, HFW has impressive interactive but very inconsistent too. Some arrows flow on water surface in some major areas but not in some smaller areas, even some arrows dissappear immediately on the ground or wet surface.
Some blasts can interact with foliage in one region (i don't remember where but it has the same foliage in HZD) but most other big region, the foliage didn't react with the blast at all.
In that terms of details, stable interaction across the board and the smooth control with great momentium from climbing, jumping, running, taking items and even combat variety animations. The Last of Us Part 2 still the king of all PS exclusive games. I still very impress by the details animation and physic from Naughty Dog's engine.
Edit: in TloUp2, when you throw a fire bomb into the snow, you can see the snow slowly deform by the heat. The blood also cause a deformation on snow too. While in HFW, you can try to shot a bomb and it didn't affect at all to snow ( just only had a dirt), but weird thing is... in HZD frozen Wilds dlc region, the blast can deform snow.
Edit 2: after the latest update patch of HFW, now most of the foliage react to the blast from your weapons (bombs, spear, etc.)
Graphic is definitive better in horizon ... but the detailes are clearly better in tlou2 but it makes sense. An open world game with all detailes is sheer inpossible or they would need 10+years.
@@alphaomega887654321 yeah, but there are something that bug me that some of the things I mentioned was already has in the HZD such as the blast from bomb weapons can effect on foliages and deform snow. But it is not improved and expanded and even lack of that in HFW.
I don't want to compare to TW3 or RDR2 in terms of interactive details (this one is really the biggest game I don't want to compare to any openworld games because the human resources are the biggest so the difference will be the most clearly in details).
But overall, HFW is still one of the best visuals out there yet.
@@PonTran194 tw3 would definitive lose but rdr2 would definitve win ;)
I agree. Tlou2 is the king of details.
@Carlos Valverde tf? You got something to say?
Here’s what I will say, is that The Last Of Us 2 had a release that was vastly more polished than Forbidden West. When I first played this game on launch day back in 2020, I had a near ZERO BUG experience. Seriously, just ONE instance where a low-res texture of a door didn’t update in time. This game on PS4 Pro was littered with glitches and bugs, dozens, ranging from small to fucking huge, stuff that they didn’t even address from the first game, like how in a lot of instances, the audio balancing is total dogshit, with Ashly Burch’s voice lines being muffled to the point of inaudibility from background noise, often times as an obvious product of them literally being out into the game at vastly different volumes and then being totally drowned out by utterly imbalanced background noise.
None of that in The Last Of Us: Part II. It was polished to damn near perfection.
interesting, I'm playing HFW in PS5 now, and no bug or glitch so far. Just one time one of the enemy somehow spawned underground, but it didnt cut me away from finishing the mission, and I could kill it. The Audio is perfectly okay, character has two voices as I hear, an inner, thinking style, it is generally harder to hear, but not a problem at all, and the usual conversation, it is louder. The voice acting is also great. However, I didnt play Last of Us, so I dont know about its physics, but in HZD and HFW it is a masterpiece, flying, overriding machines and the static and passive objects are also part of the game mechanics... The climbing and the use of various equipment is also done well, like the ropecaster. And climbing is in the game mechanics, you can almost climb anywhere, not just where the mission is.
@@ezustnyil8414 you should try tlou2 and its ok if u dont handle the story and the game is really cheap now

Forbidden West its just the best looking game to date, while being an open world, insane.
That's one hell of a storm
The amount of details put in are incredible. And the efforts simply should not be ignored. It is so unfair when someone says graphics don’t matter.
Make a red dead redemption 2 with Horizon forbidden West comparison. Two Monster Games against each other😈
Some of the difference in the atmosphere vegetation etc would seem to be up to preference, but actually, if you think about it, the game’s story affects it a lot. TLOU2 is a zombie apocalypse story with lots of places bombed and destroyed, lots of spores growing everywhere, just generally not the healthiest atmosphere.
While things are not going too great in HFW, it makes sense to be so colorful - first of all, everything was recreated by AI terraforming system, not Mother Nature, so ofc it looks much better. And even though in the game this AI hasn’t been present for a while (a short while in comparison to how long it had been taking care of this before that), the subfunctions it had overdid their job instead of not doing it at all. Too many floods, too many storms, rains etc, and the blight seems to be from overdoing smth with vegetation as well.
So really, HFW is of course very beautiful and colorful, cudos to TLOU2 - besides an unbelievable story telling, its details are not too bad in comparison, and the atmosphere is up to the point.
6:34 Damn! Those water effects of TLOU 2. Best I've ever seen.
Although HFW is the best looking game i've ever seen overall.
I forgot that the last of us 2 came out holy shit. Now I'm remembering all the frustration 🤦♂️
Especially the story.
Definitely HFW but feel like if they made TLOU 2 more focused around the PlayStation 5 it would’ve looked similar unsure both great games !!
Battle of titans. TLOU2 still looks better in a few areas however it's clear that Horizon is already beyond that. I can't even imagine what marvel Naughty Dog will make in the future once they squeeze the power of PS5!
On horizon, if you walk through the arrows on trees they will brake. Thank you for your great content bro!
Both games and old parts of them are my favourite games of all time ❤️ I even named my first born Ellie because of my love for the last of us
Was hoping you were going to touch on swimming and the way the scum on top of the water moves and disappears in Horizon. It was one of the first things I noticed when I jumped in early on in Aloy's adventure. Such attention to details like that really help to suck you into this world! (Will say I'm shocked about the trees not interacting with you when they have snow on them! Guess I was too blown away by the snow effects on the ground to ever notice that before!)
I love the cinematic camera when you take a swan dive in HFW
TLOU 2 to me feels more technically solid. But I enjoyed my time more with Forbidden West - except getting caught on every. single. outcropping.
Awesome to see
Both consist of many fun and cool details.
Did you compare the PS4 version of HFW?
It's pretty unfair in not
Really even a fair comparison
Gameplay-cinematic transitions, as well as animations in tlou are unparalleled. Yeah even in Forb.W. in my opinion its caused by the open world in horizon, more content(size of the map etc) lower quality. After all Tlou was much bigger product and event(the release)
Last of Us 2 got me spoiled with crawling, they had to have got inspired from MGS3. I really wish you could crawl in Horizon and get really stealthy not just crouching. You actually can crawl up the side of a mountain on your hands so it's halfway there.
however the animation of Ellie taking and placing the arrows in the backpack is better done than Aloy
2 different games 2 different Colour setting vivid and dark. The colour setting of a game or movie is mostly related to the story if its dark or happy
You can definetely tell that The Last of Us Part II was made for PS4, and Horizon Forbidden West is mainly a PS5 title, and the the 2 years between them. But man, both games look so good, and TLOU P2 has so many amazing little details, and the enviromental detail in HFW is on another level. Visually, of course HFW looks better, but in my opinion, TLOU P2 is so much better.

Horizon shines in outdoor environments, but when you go inside some ruins or even the base, you can clearly see they're using last-gen assets and tech. When indoors, TLOU2 is way more detailed and realistic. Gotta say however, HFW is an open-world game, which is much harder to maintain high levels of realism everywhere you go. You gotta have compromises.
5:58 The PS4 version of HFW have lower-quality versions of all particle effects. Effects like ocean waves are made up of low-poly low-FPS textures, if you're close enough you can actually see how choppy the animation is. Dust don't kick up under Aloy's feet in the desert, and you can actually see tornadoes as sheets of low-res textures.
And the smallest things like face hair don't even exist, but they do in the PS5 version.
Please make part 2
Can you make Tlou 1 vs Something Game?
In the last of us 2 the water has no effect on the arrows - Actually the arrows in tlou2 fired into water are way more realistic they embed themselves into the seabed just like they would in real life. They certainly wouldn't float on the surface like in horizon.
Facts, TLOU 2 is the best
@@vroxzyy_-1672 Both games are good but I've probably spent way more time on HZD than TLOU2 but then it is open world.
they wouldn't pierce trough the water like in tlou2 though, both arent realistic in that regard.
Man Guerrilla have raised the bar really high this time!
It would be crazy if guerilla and naughty dog were put together
The fact that a ps4 game can hold its own vs a ps5 game goes to show the amazing quality and work the guys at Naughty Dog put in Tlou2.
Greatest game ever made IMO.
Armpit hair detail is not why I pick a game
😂
Both amazing games!!! Just out of curiosity....is this HFW footage from PS4/PS4 pro or PS5? Also for TLOU2 was it PS4/PS4 pro or played on PS5 with the new patches? Both look amazing, but I can't get over the fact that TLOU2 looks a bit grainy in the video at times. I just finished HFW on PS5 and I'm curious to see what the game looks like on PS4/PS4 pro. What I can't wait for is Naughty Dog's first PS5 optimized game.
HFW photo mode works like a miracle.
