  • The dialogue is slightly different if you ran instead of staying with the Nightmare.

A few interesting things I've noticed.
All of the voices are traumatized. Even those that hide it well. I'm a firm believer in the theory that they are metaphors for traumatic responses, so this that in this route, your brain used all of its defenses against the princess, and it still wasn't enough. That fits with the fact that she does, in fact, attack your brain, and that she manages to defeat you that way.
Another thing I saw is that this princess is just the other side of the coin of the Apotheosis. Just like the Apotheosis, she slowly destroys your free will by scaring you, and making you believe there is no other option but to obey her. They use your own mind against you. The only big difference is that in the Tower/Apotheosis you can fight the loss of your free will, and can eventually defeat the princess. In the Nightmare/Moment Of Clarity, however, she defeats you more sneakily, and by the time you realize it it's already too late and you must free her.

The only one who seemingly isn't traumatized is Cold. He needs something to keep him focused, which is guiding you and possibly wiping your memory on every loop, nd that in turn keeps you focused.
Going off your theory, I guess in that sense he represents coping mechanisms one might use when faced with trauma. It doesn't fully shut it out but it keeps you from getting hurt emotionally.

@@reubensalter8125 I think Voice of the Cold represents going numb, and suppressing feelings. Since suppressing is his whole thing, it would make sense that he doesn't appear traumatized in this route.
He does his best to hide the damage.

Hey don't disrespect Cold like that, he's actually the only sane one left in this route; he just wants to get this over with.

To be fair, it's subtle but... Cold broke too. He's become more crueler.
Broken was louder and pressing (because... Well... Obvious)

@@mochiandturtles5642 Cold didn't break. He's just had to take on the parental role of everyone and all the nitty gritty stuff that comes with it. He's actually quite helpful.
      Broken is just more broken.

@@reubensalter8125 Somebody on tumblr explained this better...
Cold advocates unfeeling and snuffing out your heart as a way to help the other voices. "Have you considered not feeling shit?" type advice.
By "breaking," I meant that he stopped focusing on caring for the other voices and shut THEM out.
