I needed this to remind me to pay attention to the back of my head! I so appreciate all your helpful tips like using wet hands on wet hair and dry hands on dry hair. They really do make a difference! Thanks!!
Sometimes I get so frustrated with my hair and my scalp showing that I don’t even look to see if it’s covered or not. BUT, you have encouraged me to keep looking. 😂 Thanks for sharing.
A good tip if you have a water bottle spray, add a little bit of curlsmith miracle shield to it. Then spray all your hair and scrunch it. Sleeping with your curly hair on top of your head in a bun also helps with a silk pillowcase to stop hair frizz.
Covering the white showing scalp with organic eyeshadow powder in the same colour of your hair helps additionally with stubborn cowlicks. Thank you for the video! ❤️
My hair is very much like yours. I do have a cowlick right in the back which always gives me a very difficult time in managing to cover it up. And they say that the older you get the deeper the cowlick is. I feel that is true. But thank you for the good ideas to cover it up
Your hair is beautiful! I’m going to try your tips because I usually just have to get my hair soaking wet every morning and it takes me extra time. Great video as always!
My once thick curly hair has become very thin and I've struggled with volume and scalp coverage. I have never tried brushing my curls but your results are stunning so I will be giving your method a try. Thank you!
Thanks for the tips! I used your diffusing technique when I did my hair this evening and it helped. The problem with grey hair is that my scalp shows through a lot more than when my hair was brown. I've been using pinch clips on my dampened hair in the morning to use my hair to cover where the scalp shows in the back and crown and removing the clips when my hair is totally dry, later in the day (I use white clips that don't show in my hair). I think it helps some. I also weave a hair pin or two into my part on the crown when damp restyling so my part doesn't look so big - it also gives me more lift on top of my head. The brush technique looks good but I can't invest in another brush right now. Also, I worry about messing up the curl pattern if I'd try to detangle when refreshing the way you do. I do fluff my hair at the roots in the morning when I take off my bonnet, as you demonstrated. Your hair looks great, I'd never know your hair is low density by looking at it. Do you have tips that would work in wavy hair? Someone in my family with wavy hair worries about her scalp showing, but I don't think she'd use the type of styling you use.
Wow! Thank you! I have a cowlick at the back of my head as well as low density hair. So, I’m constantly battling my hair lying flat in this section. This video was very helpful. I’m going to try your suggestions. I appreciate your videos, Gena. Always helpful and useful tips. 👍🏼
I have a massive cowlick at the back of my head too, & borderline med/low density. I also have stubborn growth patterns that cause all the hair before the cowlick grow directly down each side of my head. It takes a LOT for me to get any root curl & lift.
I just found your channel and I am so happy. I’m hoping to watch some of your videos and get help. I don’t know if your hair is frizzy at all but mine is crazy frizzy and curly and long but I will be getting it cut. I just wanted to add that for my crown area, mine splits there all the time. What I do is I let my hair air dry for the most part and then when it’s about halfway dry I get two of the Velcro curlers, small to medium. I don’t use really big ones but I put them up on my crown area, It gives it a little lift but it also holds the split together pretty good. I don’t roll it with the hair I just lift the hair up and just put the roller underneath it and then set the hair back down and make sure it’s holding it. And then in the morning if it’s split I do the same thing I spritz it with a mixture of water and a little bit of conditioner in the water just enough so it’s damp and then I put the curler back in and let it dry or I dry it depending on how quick I need to get out. It works. But I’m gonna check out your other videos too.
I have coarse thick wavy frizzy unruly hair. Shoulder length bob. I flat iron it straight. But my main issue is the hair from the crown down to just behind my ear stays wavy even though I'm straightening. It almost never stays straight, even after a hit flat iron. By the time I'm done trying to straighten it, it's now been hit by too much heat and just lays limp and it's almost like I have to go back and wash it all over again to regain volume. I've used a million products for volume but they just wind up laying on top of my hair & leaving a film, and I'm back again to feeling like it needs to be washed again to regain volume. Then I'm back to wavy hair again starting over. Keeping the ends to go straight down instead of curling toward my face is also a chore. It's exhausting. I haven't found anything yet that relaxes coarse hair and also keeps volume & actually sinks into my hair instead of laying on top of it. I've done mousse, root lifter, heat spray, silicones, volume boosters, along with expensive hair products and olaplex, bonding products, repair products, etc. I don't want a keratin treatment because I want to also retain volume If anyone knows how to keep volume but also relax coarse hair to make it stop being wavy I'm all ears!
Great tips! 💗 I wonder if a different form of night protection would protect your crown better. I use a satin lined hair buff, and I find that works way better for my hair. I got it from her given hair, they call it a protective head band.
Some of them have silicones but not all. The Re:Coil cream is CGM-friendly. The Liquid Effects gel has PEG-12 Dimethicone, a water-soluble silicone. Apologies for the link issues!
What's the name of the brush you use at 7:18? I was thinking about buying something like this for defining my curls but I don't know if it will create too much tension? Great video x
I have exactly ur type of hair, and i Find it hard to have it long , like midback, it just clums up no fluffiness, and usually the ends are very thin compared to the roots, any advice, or we just have to keep it short, like it lacks the proper weight to weigh down.
If I finger comb through my 3a fine curls (wet or dry)...they go straigtht/wavy! There's no getting the curl back unless I start over by washing again. I have to wash my hair pretty much every day because of this (plus, my hair gets so tangled if I skip even just one day). How are you able to finger comb through again and again and still have curls?
Since the length of my hair has increased, the roots and crown have much more volume. I just wonder why sometimes the water sprayer results in knots at the ends. It's becoming more of an issue these days.
Sounds like you need a trim. Hair generally starts to knot easier when the ends are split and damaged. Which happens over time no matter how well you treat your hair.
@@angifarnsworth5216 yes, but I just trimmed it one month ago. I am guessing that my sinus medication damaged the ends and hair shaft, because it was fine before that. I have to watch for more damage.

Thank you Gena Marie. Your hair is beautiful. You sure know what you hair needs are.
Great tips! It's nice to have all the tips in one video.
Glad it was helpful!
FINALLY, A VIDEO ON THIS ONE. THANK YOU 💗
As i entered the 2nd minute of this video, subscribed right away. No bull shit. Pure information!
Enjoyed the video, as usual, 😃 and definitely got some tips I’ll be using. Appreciate your channel.
Thank you!
Hair fiber on dry hair at root - especially crown/cowlick helps. Or dry spray shampoo, use both sparingly. Build up will counteract.
Yay I was just thinking about this and was hoping you had a video for it. Thank you 😘

This is such a useful tip!!’ Thanks so much for sharing it’ll definitely help whenever I have those flat days 😅😅😅😅
How do you get a bonnett to STAY on? I've tried so many different kinds and they always fall off while I sleep.
Great tips! 💗

My crown area is not growing as long as the rest of my hair and it looks ugly. What should I do about it?
Are the AG products CG approved?....if so, can u specify which ones. Link did not take me to products. Love the info you provide!

Are you taking a Biotin Supplement?
My curls used to look beautiful like yours but after years of heat damage theyre gone. Thanks for the cowlick tips i thought i was balding😅
What's the name of the brush you use at 7:18? I was thinking about buying something like this for defining my curls but I don't know if it will create too much tension?
Great video x

Great video many of us suffer from this
What is a good leave in conditioner or product . My ends are really dry, thin and losing because of age.
Do you ever use or recommend a root lift spray or powder?
Thanks for the tips!
I hear ya I hate the tangles ugh got to get them out

What type of hair cut do you ask for? I just had a curly hair cut and it turned out awful. Clumpy straight bits. My curls have gone wavy 😢
I get a blunt cut with no layers to prevent stringiness
Where can you get those silk hair bonnets ?
i have a cowlick that i’m super insecure about because everyone thinks i’m balding at the ripe age of 13

I recently read that using distilled water helps.
Am I missing something? I was looking for a link to gat a silk/satin sleep bonnet.
Got a bonnett. Found a silk one for a few dollars. Bought it just to try it. I like the way my curls come out when I remove it.
Thank you for sharing
thanks
None of my curls would survive if I put a dense brush through them ☹
Hi Gena! Is the link to the brush correct? I get a GMPUT 3-pack cord organizer when I click on it.
Sorry about that! Something went wrong with their amazon listing. Try this rstyle.me/cz-n/ghh6xcvz6w
