Yeah don't use a harbor freight spring compressor. I did on a Sequoia and the pressure of the spring twisted that tool up like a pretzel. The spring was literally tearing the tool apart. Had to run to the parts store to get a different one just to get the harbor freight one off and to finish the job. Very dangerous situation.
I also used the Hazard Fraught spring compressor. I had to be super careful the rods didn't twist/rotate around the spring as I tightened the bolts. Definitely was a little dicey, just go slow and careful and do a few turns on each side. I'm usually a "safety 2nd/3rd" kind of guy, but I was careful with this one and all that stored energy.

If the vehicle will only be driven on roads, and is basically for looks, then a spacer lift with stock sized shocks will work fine, but its not recommended .
Make sure u tighten the spring extra inche if you are doing a lift. Really hard tighten spring when it is by itself.
I liked your clip. Informative and entertaining. Thank you .
no bilstein gives you 2 rubber bushings ...you missing one my friend
Incorrect.
Nice job! I have been looking for a video like this.
Aren't all the nuts metric?
19mm, 3/4 is there a difference? Use what you have.
Great Segment
Your 1st Gen Sequoia is looking awesome! Quick question, what is the best replacement for front/ rear struts? Mine is the same model as yours but bone stock, it has 140K miles on it but the ride is on the stiff side now? When should i replace my shocks? I want the ride to the on the softer side, do i need to replace my bushings w/ polyurethane? Appreciate your suggestions. Keep it up! 🙌🏻👍🏻🙏
Thank you! Are you looking to lift or keep stock height?
Just keeping stock, I just want a comfortable ride.. what do u suggest? Tnx!
If you're going to keep it stock and are just looking for a better ride, I wold consider the Bilstein 4600 series front and rear shocks here: www.1stgenoffroad.com/store/p220/Bilstein4600ShocksSequoia.html#/
They'll easily swap out with your existing shocks. I wouldn't go poly bushing if you're looking for a softer ride. The poly bushings are more responsive but also stiffer. Thanks!
Don't buy bilstein shocks, they are garbage. Big mistake I made ,I got Monroe huge huge difference for half price
Stay away from 4wheelparts too .they know what they are selling to customers, you ask and they don't know shit.i spent close to 500 on bilstein shocks. Even though I asked them many questions, those shocks are rough
Shocks can be found here: www.1stgenoffroad.com/store/p21/Bilstein_B8_5100_Series_Ride_Height_Adjustable_FRONT_Shock.html
None of the videos i have seen none of them show how the washers go.....
the rust is real!!!
Ty
Holy rust, Batman!
Hello there! @1stgenoffroad (or anyone who can answer my questions) I have 2 questions. I 'm looking into buying the dobinsons 1.75" lift kit from your site. Does the Dobinsons kit also level the truck? Also, with a 1.75" kit, does it require a diff drop? I've read in some forums that if the lift is under 2", a diff drop isn't necessary. Thanks ahead for your answers. I love the channel!
It will have the same 1" rake that is has now. Diff drop is not necessary for this lift.
@@1stgenoffroad so could I do a setup with the 4600 shock kit and 2.75 front springs and 1.75 rear? To level it out and still lift it.
All the shit that went wrong, always happens to me too🤣
happened to me as well, will be doing this for the damn third time lol.
Lol I thought it only happens too me
Torque wrench to break bolt made me cringe 😫
Don't worry about the dirty shop; worry about the weight bar against the wall with 5 pounds of weight.
:Maxin' that benchpress.
wd40 is penetrant but the oil you using doesnt penatrates properly and wd40 is not expensive
Did he say SOCKET WRENCH!!!??? Lol
Your sway bar link bushings need replaced.🇵🇱🇺🇸
Ditched the sway bar and the links.
You should not compress the spring any more than absolutely necessary.
So I’m short, you drive a POS, with Moog shocks, that your mother bought you. Ford Escort?
This is the exact same color mine is
Love it man looking forward to this! Wish I saw your channel when you started the build
Nice man 😉👍
Never use a torque wrench to loosen bolts
Thanks for that No torque wrenches were harmed during the making of this video.
Dude....that is a lot of rust
Buy! A impact way easier.
nah. This one's way better: ruclips.net/video/7k3_5icAMtk/видео.html
really couldve just loosen the spring tool to put tension on the top to crack it open lmfao
ya prolly
What an absolute pig pen that shop is 😂
using a torque wrench to break a rusty bolt!!??? ouch!!!! then he tells me not to listen to the directions..... FAIL!!
Let me calm your emotions. The torque wrench was already broken. Trust me. Go by their directions and you will fail.
Wulululululu
Your music” so sucks. Shouldn’t have to keep doing volume control.
LOL. I'll get you some Olivia Rodrigo next time.
Good old Toyota rusty frame..get a Nissan!
No you.
What a rust bucket you have there.
I’ll put this rust bucket up against anything your mommy bought you.
Might as well add another "don't use the torque wrench to loosen bolts" so no one thinks this is the right way to do things. I cringed.
I should just add this disclaimer: No torque wrenches were harmed during the making of this video.
😮😮😢 watching people use a torque wrench as if it was a standard ratchet makes one laugh at the lack of knowledge on proper tool use
No torque wrenches were harmed during the making of this video. Hope it didn't offend you or hurt your feelings.
@@1stgenoffroad didn’t offend me at all just knowing that by using in the way you did damages the torque wrench to the point that the settings will be off. Nice ride tho I’m about to start my project sequoia soon
🙃👎👎👎👎👎👎
Clean your freaking shop goshhh … and cut back on tour nonsense tools lecture. Nothing science rocket about replacing a shock on a rusty vehicle… lol
There's a lot of people out there. Some are not very smart. Sometimes stupid disclaimers are necessary.
