Imagine you're on a flight, and all of a sudden the fasten seatbelts light goes on, and the PA crackles out "HELLO I'm Dan this is Arin and today we're gonna land your plane."
This took me back to playing games like this in computer class in middle school and everyone would be crowded around the one kid that was good at it and we'd all lose our shit when they cleared the level
Was hilarious to watch Arin develop an immediate hardcore addiction to only spending money to upgrade money to earn more money at the expense of the plane's upgrades
Ohhh my god I have never felt such polarized emotions in my life as I have between watching Arin continue to spend all his money and not save up for the space shuttle, and laughing my ass off at how funny they’re making it.
Reminds me a bit of Guts and Glory. I like seeing the little worlds they programmed every time Arin overshot the goal. Anyone else sitting there like Dan dying for Arin to push the “change vehicle” button and see how much it is every time the rocketship is flashing? 🚀 [edit:] And the satisfaction of hearing Arin’s determination at 20:00 in. It was ultimately disappointing though. I guess their rocket power need to be proportional to the size of their ship 😅
Me, too. And I also identified it with crash mode in Burnout. I just love games that they start off viewing as stupid, and then win them over halfway through, like Arch Rivals did.
I was watching this while donating plasma and right around 15:05 I began to have a negative reaction to the process, causing me to sweat, go pale, go cold, have tunnel vision, be lightheaded, and dry heave, all while Arin and Dan joked in the background. I imagine it felt somewhat similar to getting in a serious car crash and the radio keeps going.
Honestly, he probably assumed you couldn't boost in the beginning. He thought upgrading the engine made the starting ramp speed faster, the boost was to use after you took off, and the upgrade was just to get more out of the bonus(that one he's correct about lol).
Imagine you're in your hotel and see what looks to be a plane flying towards you and, in the cockpit you see a man with a fro and a guy in the pilot seat yelling speed agility momentum strength power!
Oh wow, flight/upgrade games. Doesn't that bring me back to the golden age of Kongregate and flash games. Remember the ones with the penguin? Kind of ironic, too, since Arin did one of the voices in the Upgrade Complete series.
This video had me fucking dead. I died of laughter. My parents will have to reunite in order to plan my funeral, and my father will realize that he chose the wrong woman over my mom. He may finally see how wonderful of a person my mom is in comparison, and slowly fall in love with her over time. Meanwhile, my mom falls in love with the funeral director. My father ends up divorcing his wife in order to pursue a relationship with my mom, but she's no fucking idiot. She gets with the funeral director, who is a lovely man I would have loved to call my step-dad. Unfortunately, I am dead. Because of this dumbass video. THANKS A LOT, GRUMPS.
31:25 If you pause, you can see that the flagpole spawned *_on the side of the spaceship,_* which apparently caused it to pop up and flip around a few more times.
what is this obsession with holding beers, and why does everyone always have a beer in their hands? it's a stupid joke and you're stupid for making it. now let's make out. 😘
Private pilot here. I can confidently say that this simulator was instrumental in my learning short and soft field landings. Couldn’t have passed my check ride without it.
I'm 18 minutes in and I've spent more than half of that time yelling at the screen "BOOST ON THE WAY DOWN THE RAMP TO INCREASE YOUR JUMP SPEED", does Arin ever try that? XD
This game is the spiritual successor to all those cool flash games we played as kids. Shopping cart hero, Learn to fly, the bouncy one I can't remember the name of..., the one where you kick that guy, the paper airplane one and etc... man I forgot a lot of those games names
I know its basically impossible as I don't know what's different about the game or what the Grumps would do. But I really want a second episode of this because I laughed the hardest I've laughed in a while and I need more of that joy in my life. So, please if you could make that happen I'd be super grateful, if not, you guys still make me laugh every day anyway so, thank you!!
Now for some reason I want a long episode of Dan and Arin playing MS Flight Simulator. Just a long chill episode of them flying from one city to another or something.
I wish games like this had wider releases. A game like this really deserves to be on all major consoles. Glad they at least made it to the Switch, though! ;D
29:13 No, it's just not simulating any aerodynamics whatsoever. The wings are just for show. They provide no lift force. You're basically piloting a sideways rocket in vacuum every time. And what happens as a result is exactly why rockets aren't to be piloted sideways near ground.
“Attention! This is your captain speaking. I’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is we’ll be landing immediately. The bad news is… we’re crash landing.”
Arin spending the money, even when he finally had the means to get enough to buy the spaceship, is half funny and half "what the hell is wrong with you?!"
Hey Timmy whats your favorite game grumps episode? I really really liked when arin repeated "speed power strength momentum agility" for a looooooonng time!
Dan becoming the strict parent by the end of the episode telling Arin how many more tries he can have before he has to turn off the game is the best part.

I read this just as he said that XD
That moment is right about at 11:17 , I went back and watched it a few times :D
