    Must be and optical illusion, but that propeller looked like it was spinning in the wrong direction.

    The way the camera shutter speed was I couldn't mentally coordinate if this was getting cranked for a startup and why was there so much engine noise from somewhere?

    Yeah, that’s the unfortunate result of high speed shutter effects in modern digital cameras and phone’s cameras. Too bad they don’t have shutter and frame rate settings that provide more natural appearing videos with fast-moving objects. I mean, they might already, but they’re not easy to configure.
    I believe all US-made aircraft engines on single-engine aircraft ran in the same direction, clockwise as viewed from the pilot’s seat. This engine is at running speed, matching the sound (probably 1500 or more engine RPM). The high-speed shutter’s “strobe” effect makes it look like the starter is cranking it the wrong direction. In about the last 8 seconds it slows to idle.
