I’m glad I never had any webkinz because I was allowed to name my little beige chihuahua at like 4. I named her Floppy D because of her floppy ears, not realizing how it sounded. I can only imagine what I would’ve named the webkinz-

I had a random rhino plush, (not a WebKin) and I wanted to name him Horny, because Yk rhinos have horns. My parents obviously said no and I always wondered why.

That brings me such a sense of closure about all the Webkinz I had on my account from way back in the day.
I remade the entirety of the film Zoolander with my Webkinz and posted it on RUclips when I was 8 or 9. I have no idea what happened to it, but I wish I still had it.

Hey there! I founded Kinzvestigation a few years back, a group dedicated to unearthing and preserving the history of this poor 18 year old flash game, and I have some cool facts I'd like to share, specifically about Leaf Leaf. Of course it only lasted a few months. We have its files, actually, though not in a playable state. There IS one sound in them, a generic boing, but we dont know where or even if it was used. We interviewed a 2005 player some time ago, who testified that it had a catastrophic glitch that would let you farm money in it, and that when Ganz fixed it, everyone stopped playing the game, speeding up its removal. I'd take that with a grain of salt, of course, but it's very interesting. (Bonus fun fact: Remember the magical forest having music in it, that would change as you scrolled? Yeah, that just vanished one day and never came back. It's not even in the files anymore. This game is very functional

I remember having so many Webkinz. My parents basically used them as a way to reward me for good behavior. Unfortunately, they've all been lost to a house fire. But as an adult now, I still smile when I see a Webkinz at a yard sale or a thrift store. I remember being obsessed with them but now I can admire them from a distance and leave them for someone else. This video is a great visit down memory lane.
I had 33 webkinz, and the majority of them were named after Smosh characters. I had some hamsters and remember nearly bricking the family computer trying to play in the 3d mazes, that poor 2005 Dell tower with Windows Vista couldn’t keep up with my epic gaming.
Listening to this half asleep while driving to work at 3 am and I was not expecting it to devolve into a full on true crime documentary 😂
My theory for the pets and hosts having a goofy-pluto dillema is that the pets are babies of the webkinz species that cant talk or walk and need constant care like real babies and when the webkins species matures they become sentient and bipedal
love this theory. i like to think that at any point arte could just go down on four legs and start running at like mach speed
this could also work for the parent “sparking” (incest) theory, where perhaps the parents are the walking talking species and eventually turn into what we play as webkinz

I'm surprised you didn't really mention the Wekinz Music Videos and the lore in those! I always assumed that the NPCs and Webkinz were the same species, because in the music videos regular pets you could adopt (Like the pink poodle, skunk, white fluffy cat, etc.) were seen walking around upright with clothes on like the NPCs. It kind of made me think that the Webkinz pets were like babies that grew up into NPCs. Idk if that makes sense though. Loved this iceberg, it reminded me to log back into webkinz and check on all my pet friends! :)
all webkinz have an animation that lets them walk in bipedal. its hidden away though because its cursed. only ever shows up in promotional artwork for events too
25 years old and can remember the day I got my first webkinz at scholars choice. I can’t describe the devastation I felt (and still feel) when I tried to get my old webkinz account back and wasn’t able to. RIP to my webkinz and all the amazing items I had in that house.

I'm a senior in college and still wear Webkinz mango body spray! The smell is generally appealing and the nostalgia brings me a lot of joy. Not to mention the prizes you unlock with the code it comes with.

Aw man, I always loved sim games as a kid, Neopets as a kid, and adding Animal Crossing as a teen. My younger brother got a Webkinz as a kid, and I offered to "help him out" by grinding money from minigames for him. I actually really liked Dicekinz- I already was a TCG player, so I'm certain I'm not the only older Webkinz user who enjoyed Dicekinz!
I remember enjoying Dicekinz but never fully understanding it, and I guess that's how it was for most kids playing at the time. The fact that so many of us didn't really fully understand it probably kept the skill ceiling from getting too high and making it impossible for beginners to play

I started playing Webkinz before I could fully read, so I usually had to have my dad playing with me to fully understand the game. We were playing the 'Don't Rock the Boat' game, and got the "jump scare" from the ghost pirate. If you encountered the ghost pirate, whichever pet you were currently playing as would have all it's health/happiness bars be knocked down to 0. I guess child me had a weird sense of virtual-pet empathy, so this situation made me so upset I started uncontrollably crying. My dad wound up taking me out for ice cream to calm me down, so it wasn't all bad lmao

Absolutely love this video. I play both Webkinz Classic and Webkinz Next daily and have an entire friend group I gained thanks to the discord communities, so it's so fun seeing one of my favorite channels cover the game
someone needs to document these toys-to-lie plush virtual pet sim games, whatever the genre is.
i remember so many of them from childhood, including Shining Stars, SeaPals, Moshi Monsters, and a few others.
I had so many webkins, myself. off the top of my head i had a Clownfish, a Google, a lion, and some other one.
moshi monsters wasn't toys to life, the merch came after the game and didn't involve redeeming things of that nature.
most other webkinz clones are lost media with no preserved assets barring a video or two if they're lucky enough for even that. that's why there aren't many videos; the only physical remnant is the plush toy that they made for those sites
The Build-a-Bear online game called Bearville was kind of like that if I remember correctly. I never see or hear people talking about that one

A detective finally catching onto the perpetrator’s scheme via clues unknowingly delivered throughout the course of the video. My passion for writing loves this execution of such a lofty claim. This feels silly to write but god im so grateful for the soundtrack you used. The sims 2 on the DS was SUCH a strange weird ass game but by god it was one of my favorites as a kid and still is. The tracks you used from it are SO nostalgic and relaxing. I'm just grateful you used it honestly.

Jelly, thank you for 1) making an entertaining video! 2) putting bounds of thought and love into it!! webkinz was so huge that I think a lot of “remember THIS from your childhood??” creators have tried and failed to make any compelling webkinz facts + history vids. when you had a patterned puppies section I knew this would be the real deal. my second-ever webkinz was a chihuahua named lucy, i’m sure she and cinnamon would be total bros if they ever met!

6 years ago, my beautiful best friend ended her life at only 12. she loved webkinz so so much. she had so many, i was always jealous. i used to bring mine over and we would film low quality kinztube videos and laugh at the lack of plot.
nobody watched them except for us and our friends. but when she died, her account got taken down by her family due to bullying. the videos are gone now. but i will always remember our webkinz skits and laughter. thank you for reminding me of these times.

my favorite part of the milk cat lore is that it inspired one of the most horrific product promotional videos of all time of someone actually pouring milk over a spamton plush and making it thud against the wall. that wasnt something a fan did to reference that. the video is from the official deltarune merch store. and its all from webkinz baybeeeeeeeeee
As a Webkinz player since 2011, this was AMAZING. I learned so much I didn’t know. Mazin hamsters was my life back in the day. I miss it so much. I’ve seen many pet names at the arcade, Mr. Seaworld Victim being my favorite. I have pets of my own I like to get high scores with too! Most of them being named after characters I like. :)
Another thing I’d like to mention was Daisy Doe’s campaign back in 2014. She wanted to remove junk food from the WShop and replace it with healthier food. Young me made posters against her and hung it on my bedroom door.
I do actually remember the Webkinz killer, but I was a bit late to the rumor. I discovered it in 2015 maybe. I was somehow convinced it was real and had multiple nightmares about it. 💀
That theory at the end was incredible. I’ll never look at those characters the same way again and I want to know more of the story now.

Watching this as someone who was thoroughly obsessed with Webkinz as a child but hasn’t played it in years was… wild. I had no idea what half the stuff on the iceberg was lol they’ve added SO MUCH since I last played (which was maybe 2010?? 2011??? I’m not sure lol but at that point it would have been like 5 or 6 years that I played it, I got into it pretty early)
I guess my account must be gone now with the purge thing… which is really sad tbh. I know I haven’t touched it in years but I really spent a lot of time with it as a kid and made basically a mansion and had whole storylines about which of my animals were married/related/friends/etc… and to think that’s all just gone is. Grew up with Webkinz and due to having a ton of stuff in my room, I ended up donating a lot of my old Webkinz plushies from when I was a kid. I still play the app version of the website from time to time, but not as often as I used to when I was actively playing on the website itself when I was little.

When I was a kid I was obsessed with Webkinz but I only had one plush. I told one of my teachers at school and they said they would bring there old Webkinz plushies. The next day she gave me two dog ones and a goggles plush. My old teacher was so sweet. I still play Webkinz to this day.

You're not the only one who remembers Webkinz Jr being a thing as I was curious about it as a kid when it was around(never got to actually dig into it though, but I remember the animals being more vividly colored than most Webkinz).
So, there's a distinct memory I have of Webkinz that I've not seen mentioned anywhere on the internet, so I want to see if anyone remembers encountering or at least hearing about this.
I played Webkinz from about early 2007 until early-mid 2009 and haven't touched it since. I want to say this incident happened sometime during 2007, maybe around the spring or summer. The details are all a little fuzzy, but I remember that sometimes when loading into your house or a friend's house, you'd suddenly be transported to this random single small room. It had blue wall paper and an orange floor, and there were a bunch of items lined up against the right wall. The only one I specifically remember was this black stand with an orb or pearl that told fortunes when you interacted with it. I can't remember if there were any doors or not, but if there were going into them would just boot you right back to your regular house. I think that was either how you escaped or you would just suddenly be booted into the room you were trying to go to. I remember this happening multiple times, in fact one time I even invited a friend while I was in there and they were able to successfully join.
That's about all I can recall, and like I said, this is all going off some rather fuzzy memories from over 15 years ago. Now that I've written it all out, it honestly sounds like some sort of Webkinz version of The Backrooms over a decade before that was a thing. But yeah, I'd love to hear if anyone else remembers such a room because I swear this actually happened.

I don’t have any experience or memories related to what you’re talking about BUT I’m an amateur game dev- that sounds like you were teleported to a dev room.
It’s basically just a static room/level where devs can play around with stuff- test out new code, make sure items work, etc.
especially if the items were lined up in a straight line- that’s almost a dead giveaway.

i was super into webkinz as a kid, and i had a special handmade bag that had a bunch of holes in the front so you could put your webkinz in it and have them poke their heads out. i would use it to sneak cookout shakes into movie theaters
Hello, I am 24 years old too Dream Jelly and I have been atching your videos since the Kid Pix one, I'm glad you talked about Webkinz because I too grew up with it and my sisters, parents and even grandparents all loved Webkinz, it was a hit in the household back in the 2000s :)
I remember not being able to pronounce “Persephone” and it was the first time I’ve ever seen that name. I used to pronounce it as “Purse - phone” in my head ahahaha

this is such a nostalgic trip for me as much as your experience. I had so many webkinz it was not even funny and I LOVED watching Kinz Tube growing up, and funny enough Strawberry516's prank call videos were my favorite and I still quote the "Violence isnt the answer, its the solution" to this day.
Oh wow! Every video on this channel gives me so much nostalgia, but I can say there was nothing I was obsessed with more as a kid than Webkinz! It's a shame how money hungry the game unfortunately is though. I remember all the games used to be pretty much accessible for a year per plush purchase and code redemption, which wasn't actually super bad in comparison because kids could generally ask for a webkinz for their birthday or Christmas, and $15-20 (depending if it was a regular plush or signature) per year of usage and owning a plushie isn't really bad, plus, the plushies were really cute. A very cute idea to have a plush animal come to life. I wish they didn't retire their old lineup and change the membership thing.

There once was a Webkinz plushie arrangement photo contest which I used my basic knowledge of Internet tech to help my sister cheat to win. The winner was determined by popular vote among site visitors, and clearing your browser's cookies allowed you to place another vote, which you could repeat indefinitely. I roped in my family to help, and sure enough, my sister won and received the exclusive in-game prize (I don't remember what exactly it was).

When I was in third grade my two best friends and I participated in the school talent show. We choreographed a dance (to a song probably not appropriate for our age) featuring our webkinz. I pray that one day I stumble across that footage...

I think the webkinz killer deserves to be a bit more towards the top of the iceberg since it's so frequently talked about in retrospectives these days to the point where it's synonymous with the nostalgic webkinz experience.
Your retelling of the great kiwi glitch was so good, that was the best day on webkinz for sure. I traded my medallions for a 2nd kiwi and the wish dragon! Although I will admit I was one of the redditors you screenshot who was then very stressed about getting banned. I'm glad it all worked out for us!
