For us “ Boomers “ ; another one goes to the great Rockshow upstairs. Another one of my favorites leaves the building. RIP big man, you made a bunch of us smile. Rest forever.
There was nothing quite like seeing Steve Harley in concert. My favourite moment of any concert I ever went to, was when leaving the Apollo in Glasgow after one of his shows. Everyone spontaneously starting singing #Oh dear, look what they've done to the blues, blues, blues as they walked down the street. Unusually for concert goers-it was in tune and in time! It was stunning. Forget Freddie - Steve was utter magic. 😊
I remember that concert..I think Sailor were the warm up( I cud be wrong)....I can remember Steve in a full length red coat....I remember thinking...he's raided his mum's wardrobe for that !!....great concert thou..The Greens Playhouse / Appolo was the best venue..seen all the greats down there...pity its long gone..but memory's live on forever...As steve would say......Best years of our lives😊
I love Cockney Rebel. My mother and father met through the Steve Harley fan club. You can see my mother in the crowd at the front in this performance. My father in his lifetime went to over 250 gigs. I have personally been to over 30. Love the face-to-face album
Ditto seen him loads and the Face to Face double is ace and sad to see him go😢😢😢😢 Missed the 23 concerts but had planned to see locally Sady no longer on the cards RIP Steve 😢😢😢
Imagine in 1974, i one of the crowd, watching and listening to this weird and wonderful music, of the first band Cockney Rebel, i still consider the best group, and were truly the first originals, i am 61 years old now, and when i look at Steve Harley, performing as he did then, i have undying gratitude, to his amazing music, lyrics and song, and made the world a very happy place to be in, so exciting, i bought every album he made, thanks for everything, and was so pleased to meet you, and still have your precious autograph, , never forgotten, the man and his music.
First originals? I’ll consider the Beatles as original. Pink Floyd is definitely one of the most original bands i history of the human race. There definitely other examples as Well.
Just found this . Saw them several times from 74 . The original Cockney Rebel were unique in not having a lead guitarist . A ground breaking venture at the time . Hearing this LIVE is certainly emotional for me. Wish there was some vids of the 1st line up live .
It's really something else, as an American, how so much of our music in the 70's and 80's came from the UK, to find there's still amazing stuff that never really crossed the pond. Love Cockney Rebel! And I love that there's clasic rock that can still be new to me!
I never got to see Steve Harley & his Cockney Rebel, yet I have always liked Steve and his music, there was something special and most honorable about Steve, I especially love this song, Sebastian, Good old Steve is now resting in eternal peace in heaven and having a good old chat with Phil Lynott about the good old days around Old London Town
I saw him live I think in 2000 or possibly 2001, in a bar venue in Oslo, Norway. Not very big capacity, maybe a couple hundred, was a great little intimate concert. I remember the crowd was singing "oh dear look what theyve done to the blues blues blues" over and over for several minutes before the show all the way up until he walked out on stage. Im sad to learn of his passing.
Was at this concert in Camden Town. Just arrived from Paris and bought Time Out where I have seen the advert for that saturday night show. It was fantastic on stage and in the audience.
Truly great songwriter, sadly underestimated. This song, The Best Years of Our Lives and Sebastien were our singalongs. I was listening to Death Trip the other day. I'd forgotten just how good it was.
one thing i have noticed. Not just in football but in general, is that the british folks hit the notes much better than most other places on earth. You can hear that about 99% of the crowds do an okay job.
Love this a proper crowd getting involved concert. Saw Lord Harley do this in Cardiff four times, amazing in the Capital late 70`s. Would love this as the new Cardiff City theme song if you all don`t mind.............oh dear look what they`ve done to the blues blues bluebirds
I also saw Steve at the Capital (twice) - can remember everyone walking down Queen Street singing this. Oh dear look what they've done to the blues, blues, blues.
Cockney Rebel was the first live concert I attended at the Cardiff Capitol theatre in march 1974, support was Sailor....Glass of Champagne. Then a couple of other times in Cardiff too in the following years. Always respected as a musician, some brilliant songs, Psychomodo is a long time firm favourite album
I remember singing that at the Venue london on the night of the 1983 cup final after having beaten Brighton, Waving my Man Utd scarf, what a magical day !!! I believe Steve lived in Brighton at that time.
Saw them first in Chelmsford when they had just broken - they were great right from the get go - Timeless Flight is a great album and a track from there called Nothing is Sacred is a personal favourite of mine
For us “ Boomers “ ; another one goes to the great Rockshow upstairs. Another one of my favorites leaves the building. RIP big man, you made a bunch of us smile. Rest forever.
NICE ONE KEITH
Indeed.
It’s shite getting old, don’t let anyone tell you anything different.
Rest in peace Mr. Harley
The 1970s were the best 😢
Wenn wir eines Tages nach oben gehen , treffen wir unsere Besten alle wieder ❤❤❤
Muss schon recht voll da oben sein 😅

i was born in the WRONG century!!!!!!
Saw them in Leicester in 1975 and Liverpool in 1976. He still does some good tunes eg Journey's End from Album Quality of Mercy.

What a breath of fresh air this band was - weird and wonderful.
A very own style.. that’s what real artists are about. Thanks for the beautiful songs ❤❤

What do you mean by "Lord Harley"?
Harley is still amazing. Still loves his audience.

Grande banda grande musica. Nao e para todos. E musica que exije algum bom gosto. Coisa pouca nos dias de hoje.
Steve was so underrated. cracking songs...
He's never been underrated by those who love music.. Steve and Paul Weller are probably the UK's greatest modern songwriters..
I remember singing that at the Venue london on the night of the 1983 cup final after having beaten Brighton, Waving my Man Utd scarf, what a magical day !!! I believe Steve lived in Brighton at that time.
The track that got me into Steve about 30 years ago.. the tour with Milton McDonald before he was stolen by Take That xx.
The best songwriter of his generation - end of.
Fantastic!
Rest in Peace Steve Harley 😢

Where and when was this great gig taken ?
Can anybody tell me the truth ?
Live @ London Camden Palace, 14-12-84. ... it's in the description.
Shame they're not more known world over
Steve Harley and Paul Weller are easily the UK's greatest modern songwriters post beatles..
And the fools think "Bohemian Rhapsody" is epic. Silly people.
the fools are the ones who can't appreciate great music from whatever band or singer
love love
Drums: STEVE Elliot, right?
Consider all details you'll find two composers/musicians far above the rest:
Gary Brooker (rip)
Steve Harley.
excellent....just that he gas more hair in 2017? vanity is such
Underestimated
The violin late r runrig? ye
