I have solar on my rv roof and instead of removing my 2 deep cell and 1 acid battery from the unit, I was wondering if putting an engine warmer electric blanket around them would suffice? My unit will be plugged in to electric and the converter should keep the batteries topped off. However, I am more concerned about the batteries freezing hence the blanket. As I am not mechanically inclined I was hoping this set up would work?
Keeping the batteries fully charged is much more important than keeping them warm. A fully charged battery will freeze at -80F, while a discharged battery will freeze at +20F. I don't think you need to bring the batteries indoors; just keep them topped up.
Our deep cycle batt was left with solar to charge it & it sulphated showing a 11.6 volt charge. So - am in the process of figuring out how to prevent that from happening again. Suggestions welcome

I have just disconnected the neg post and left them in the trailer. They are fully charged when unhooked. It has worked for the last 10 years.
I winterize my class A RV by driving to Arizona for the winter......
I couldn’t envy you any more lol. I’m up in northern Michigan! Brutal!
Love it
