These are crazy funny but I have a confession. When I was in High School I tried the baby food diet. I hid the jars in our basement. At dinner time I told my parents I wasn't hungry. Then later I'd eat a couple of jars of baby food. Eventually my mom found the jars. She assumed because I wasn't eating dinner and was stocking up on baby food that I was pregnant....lol,lol,lol. My poor mom, what I put her through. She was so relieved when I told her about my "special" diet:)

I'm in a micro class and we discussed the tapeworm diet. It can grow up to 20 ft or more inside your body. When you take antibiotics to kill it, you see the worm in your stool. Great video. I'm glad you mentioned all these

Have you ever heard of the 5-bite diet? The idea is that no mattet what you eat if you take 5 bites of if for breakfast, lunch and dinner you will lose weight. The worst part is that this was on Dr. Oz!!! Also why do some of these look like they belonf in my strange addiction???😂😂😂
Those were all pretty terrible, but the one that made me cringe the most was the “cotton ball diet.” I have heard way too many stories about dogs eating socks or other articles of clothing, and then having serious digestive problems, sometimes having emergency surgery. It seems like cotton balls could build up like that too. My stomach hurts just thinking about it. On a better note, I have buffalo tofu in my crockpot right now thanks to your recipe. Looking forward to dinner!
Goo goo ga ga, I laughed so hard. I remember going on the ice cream diet in the 70's where you only ate 1/2 cup of ice cream 3 times a day, didn't last more than a day.
When I was in the military I gained like 25kgs (after I lost 15 during boot-camp); and I only was there for 10 months (typical conscription-length for my country at the time). The problem was: After we passed basic training the military wouldn't spend any money to actually have us do things, so the time was spent mostly playing cards. But we were given the rations of front-line fighters; designed to give you the energy to lug 50kgs of equipment for the entire day and half the night... Plus: The conscript life involved like a fuckton times the amount of alcohol required to keep a rhinoceros plastered 24/7... Whoever got the idea a military diet was helpful to lose weight clearly never served. If you want lose weight military style: Try the boot-camp training regimen.

Actually healed myself of fibro, migraines and Crohn's on this one so while it might not be considered normal there are so many different types of fruits it can be very healthy and helpful for some of us. Especially short term. It can be done long term if you also eat lots of green vegetables along with fruit.

Correction on the "Military Diet", it was actually created by Kaiser Permanente in the 90's to help people's metabolism balance out and is only recommended to be followed for 1 month at a time. I have done it a few times over the years and have lost 6-8 lbs mostly water weight and then able to lose the rest of the weight through eating healthy and exercising. The Air Diet or being a Breatharian is sustainable only to a very select few of enlightened individuals. It's a spiritual state of being. They do eat food on occasion but it is very light eating. It is definitely NOT for beginners in the spiritual realm.
I laughed so hard at this video-- especially the "Goo goo ga ga I am baby" bit! And I cannot BELIEVE that people actually eat cotton balls! That's a one way ticket to the hospital for intestinal blockage!!
The Military Diet (what my parents just called the Three Day Diet) was the bane of my existence growing up. My parents put me on that diet off and on starting when I was in about third grade. It was even harder at that age, considering I was too young to be allowed coffee or caffeinated tea - which is really the only way to maintain your energy levels and stave off a bit of that hunger on that crash diet. It wasn't helped that I absolutely hated tuna as a kid, so I'd sometimes just skip one of the lunches (1 can of tuna, 5 saltine crackers, water) because I couldn't stomach the smell or taste.

Just as long you don't go straight back into eating super processed and unhealthy foods.
I'm sure there's justifications for many of these, not that they're actually justified. I would suggest a few other options for developing a healthier relationship with food, coming from someone who has struggled with an unhealthy relationship with food for most of my life :)

The military diet use to be called the chemical break down diet and it was recommended to over weight heart patients to lose some weight before major surgery.
I have heard the potatoe diet helps fix your relationship with food. It's a temporary diet. I have though about it, but ultimately just used potatoes along with cruciferous vegetables. It's great because you feel full.
So if you heat up the potato then let it cool down, you get lots of resistant starch which barely affects blood sugar. Dr. Chris Kresser talks about how it's probably the most effective diet he's ever seen for weight loss.
Mind Over Munch I am doing me(but it's not a potatoe diet. I was saying what was said... not what I believe they said it resets taste buds. So you're not craving all of the terrible foods. Penn(from Penn and teller) wrote a book about the diet, he's not a dietitian, but he is a skeptic. So far the diet that's worked for me is just counting calories, and eating whole foods. 55 pounds down halfway there. All diet gimmicks are bad. But if people can find a way that works for them, it's what they should do.
First, "the dude" she references is Ray Cronise, a person who's said numerous times that he doesn't advocate a "Potato Diet." Additionally, it was made "popular" in Penn Jillett's book. Regardless, the "Potato Famine" as Penn calls it in his book, is used primarily to "reset" taste buds and break the hold salts, sugars and fats have over our cravings. Ray also states that it doesn't have to be potatoes. Pretty much any mono-diet would accomplish the same thing. He also says it's not necessary. But some of us need some extra help so it should be done for a short period of time (2-weeks at most). Ray clearly and consistently advocates for plant-based diets. P.S. - I took part in a 12-day "Potato Famine" to accomplish what I outlined above. It worked better than I could have hoped. It helped me reevaluate my relationship with food, reset my taste buds (why do things have to be so sweet and salty now!) and appreciate the natural flavors of fruits and veggies allowing me to be satisfied with so much more and not having any cravings for the stuff I used to "love" so much before. Still entertaining video, though!
As a vegan, I appreciate food more. Food is so beautiful and and be creative and delicious. I love the way my body feels eating whole foods and plant based! It’s not all ab losing weight, but enjoying your life, and being healthier mentally and physically!♡
When I was much younger (and very overweight), I used to believe that spitting into the toilet and/or sink would help me lose weight. For a few years, I think, I would remember to just get a mouthful and spit it out into either place before I left the bathroom. I was totally convinced I was discarding those extra calories... Thank the Lord, I ended up achieving a healthy weight for different reasons, but now it’s imbedded in my psyche. My mouth starts watering like crazy before I flush the toilet or when I’m near a sink for more than a few moments. What a stupid side-effect, but it makes for a funny story. 🤤
I think Dr. Chris Kresser talked about the potato diet once on Joe Rogan. He mentioned that it's amazing for weight loss, just not optimal for long-term. (I find Dr. Chris Kresser to be a very respectable doctor, by the way)
I used to think you may consume calories by smelling freshly made cakes/cookies. I figured you could smell the calories and then swallow the inhaled calories lol

Thank you! I do agree with you, it's sad the lengths we as humans have gone to be thin. And people aren't crazy for wanting to be thin, it's what society forces down our throats. Learning to appreciate health has helped me shift my focus and I hope to encourage others too :)
There's also the 'sleeping beauty' diet that Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe are rumoured to have used but is still a fad diet even now. Its where you sleep much longer than you need, often with the use of sleeping pills/sedatives, in order to reduce the hours spent awake and needing to eat..
I will say that my father ate the military diet for 8 years when he was in the army back he was younger. If he would stayed on the he wouldn’t have the health problems as he has now. But it was forth noting that it’s dangerous diet for me.
This is the best/funniest video ever! haha I'd lose weight from the surgery I'd have to have recovering from all the cotton balls, I'd lose weight from all the throwing up I'd do from just the thought of eating baby food and tapeworm pills, but the 6oz. I'd lose from the weight of my eyeballs when they had to be removed from sunburn would be soooo worth it. :D And I'm with you on the cooking and not eating. Not going to happen!!! I have heard the potatoe diet helps fix your relationship with food. It's a temporary diet. I have though about it, but ultimately just used potatoes along with cruciferous vegetables. It's great because you feel full.
So if you heat up the potato then let it cool down, you get lots of resistant starch which barely affects blood sugar. Dr. Chris Kresser talks about how it's probably the most effective diet he's ever seen for weight loss.
I'd suggest a few other options for developing a healthy relationship with food first, but as I said in the video, you do you.

I am doing me(but it's not a potatoe diet. I was saying what was said... not what I believe
they said it resets taste buds. So you're not craving all of the terrible foods. Penn(from Penn and teller) wrote a book about the diet, he's not a dietitian, but he is a skeptic.
So far the diet that's worked for me is just counting calories, and eating whole foods. 55 pounds down halfway there.
All diet gimmicks are bad. But if people can find a way that works for them, it's what they should do.
First, "the dude" she references is Ray Cronise, a person who's said numerous times that he doesn't advocate a "Potato Diet." Additionally, it was made "popular" in Penn Jillett's book. Regardless, the "Potato Famine" as Penn calls it in his book, is used primarily to "reset" taste buds and break the hold salts, sugars and fats have over our cravings. Ray also states that it doesn't have to be potatoes. Pretty much any mono-diet would accomplish the same thing. He also says it's not necessary. But some of us need some extra help so it should be done for a short period of time (2-weeks at most). Ray clearly and consistently advocates for plant-based diets. P.S. - I took part in a 12-day "Potato Famine" to accomplish what I outlined above. It worked better than I could have hoped. It helped me reevaluate my relationship with food, reset my taste buds (why do things have to be so sweet and salty now!) and appreciate the natural flavors of fruits and veggies allowing me to be satisfied with so much more and not having any cravings for the stuff I used to "love" so much before. Still entertaining video, though!

As a vegan, I appreciate food more. Food is so beautiful and and be creative and delicious. I love the way my body feels eating whole foods and plant based! It’s not all ab losing weight, but enjoying your life, and being healthier mentally and physically!♡

When I was much younger (and very overweight), I used to believe that spitting into the toilet and/or sink would help me lose weight. For a few years, I think, I would remember to just get a mouthful and spit it out into either place before I left the bathroom. I was totally convinced I was discarding those extra calories...
Thank the Lord, I ended up achieving a healthy weight for different reasons, but now it’s imbedded in my psyche. My mouth starts watering like crazy before I flush the toilet or when I’m near a sink for more than a few moments. What a stupid side-effect, but it makes for a funny story. 🤤

I think Dr. Chris Kresser talked about the potato diet once on Joe Rogan. He mentioned that it's amazing for weight loss, just not optimal for long-term. (I find Dr. Chris Kresser to be a very respectable doctor, by the way)

Thank you! I do agree with you, it's sad the lengths we as humans have gone to be thin. And people aren't crazy for wanting to be thin, it's what society forces down our throats. Learning to appreciate health has helped me shift my focus and I hope to encourage others too :)

I've done the military diet. I did lose weight. But once I stopped I gained because I was hungry.

There's also the 'sleeping beauty' diet that Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe are rumoured to have used but is still a fad diet even now. Its where you sleep much longer than you need, often with the use of sleeping pills/sedatives, in order to reduce the hours spent awake and needing to eat..

I will say that my father ate the military diet for 8 years when he was in the army back he was younger. If he would stayed on the he wouldn’t have the health problems as he has now. But it was forth noting that it’s dangerous diet for me.
This is the best/funniest video ever! haha I'd lose weight from the surgery I'd have to have recovering from all the cotton balls, I'd lose weight from all the throwing up I'd do from just the thought of eating baby food and tapeworm pills, but the 6oz. I'd lose from the weight of my eyeballs when they had to be removed from sunburn would be soooo worth it. :D And I'm with you on the cooking and not eating. Not going to happen!!! If I don't eat I'm not cooking! OH! I breathe all day long and haven't lost a pound! :)
