TRUTH ABOUT ROVAN 71! I try to never make negative posts, but you deserve to know the truth, that engine sucks! Plain and simple, it has NO RPM, that's why all the throttle blipping- that's all it can do. Put mine in a baja, spent all day trying to figure out what was wrong, tuned and tuned, my friends and I were stunned. That blipping rpm you see here is it's max! I geared it way tall, my 36cc rovan outran it! Contacted Rovan, they just said "well, it's a high TORQUE motor". So I decided to lean it, slightly better, leaned it some more, STILL did not keep up with my 36cc, WTH?! In desperation I leaned it more and it layed down, no compression. This has been MY experience. Find at least one good video review before spending $700 plus pipe, (which is also a bad joke- it's 2 36cc pipes cut apart and welded togeather! It had 2 expansion chambers, could'nt make this up!). To prove I am not a Rovan hater, I own 4 Rovan bajas and an SLT, LOVE them. Btw, their 45cc IS a monster engine, again, MY experience, I have 2. Power like a Taylor 35cc, and more power than my 2 reed case OBR 34's. It's just a big-ass motor that still pulls good rpm, for a quarter the price of a Taylor! Ok, long rant, but come on guys, we gotta take of each other and share the info. And if someone DOES get that 71cc to work, please let the rest of us know. Peace out.
I will get back to you , as it will take a bit of time to explain to you in writing. So read all the replies I sent to you, as this it why I do utube videos . Have you seen the latest video on the WJ 71 carb doing pop off mode.
I am back, I know what problems you have. The pipe you have is rubbish and letting down the power of the motor down. You need to have a 6000 rpm spring, and the gear ratio 48/26 .The carby needs metering differently. In other words, it needs pop off mode done and the right pipe no one makes, but I do make it for myself only, If you check my videos, what I a couple years, I was had a 5B with a 71cc rovan testing and when quite well, stock motor and it had my first pipe I made running on wet grass. So keep watching my videos and new ones coming out as I will sorting this Rovan 71cc motor, and all you guys will get to see. Have patience and the rewards are waiting
There is a lot of fuel running through the motor as richer tune for running in, as I am bedding the motor and clutch at 1/4 throttle. It does not take much to kill a spark plug or burn out clutch shoes. At the same time, I am gauging where the touqe is for the adjustment for the carb, as you notice from the start of the video and to the end of the video the engine put up more power as it was runing in. This 71 motor needs a 62mm clutch, 54mm clutch a little small for this size engine. I am working on a 62mm clutch for this engine, which I do have using Taylor parts
DON4T take this wrong its just my opinion , i love it but those over long arms make him look (for me ! ) over ugly , larger than long is (for me) weird , kraken vesla 5 same mistake looks like a baby car with side security wheels to not overroll , i do not understand that strang us trend to do all overbright (outcast /kraton 8s or wide x-maxx xrt , vesla 5 etc BUT the only importnat is that you have fun wachting it drive :)
Mehh a lil aggressive, but you ain’t wrong lol. However that’s sorta why we all love rc planes, cars, trucks By bein able to have it built and setup with whatever the person wants and wishes for and then making it happen, is legit one of the best things ever , is seein your build come to life and especially with such an advanced build like his… There is legit thousands of RTR’s bein jus basically exactly as the way you said (regardless if I agree or not, lol) but we are jus playing around , and I personally think this is a super badass build and I’m extremely jealous currently lol. Definitely a new subscriber 🙋♂️ 🤠
I do agree with what you say. It was built for utube purposes(only) using Rovan products and to show what's out there. On my other builds, I use flm arms.
Avoiding fowl spark plug( very easy to kill a new spark plug) , running super rich mixture for running in, avoiding melt down on the clutch. When it's run in, there will be more. power on tap. Have 40 years of experience on 2 strokes, eg, motocross, go carts, 1/5
I am only using 1/4 throttle as it is very rich tune for running in.Very easy to kill a new plug and burn out a clutch with the gear ratio I am running😊
I am not a fan of the 45cc engine, as the cylinder is rubbish .The 71 motor are more solid. But when you buy new, it has to be pulled apart and cleaned, and some port work to correct the port timing and a correct pipe made for it.
Looks like there is some good low end torque there
When she run in and tuned in, there will be more controlable torque on tap, being working on a 62mm clutch system to suit the Rovan 71.
@@robertblunden7160 awesome stuff my friend. Keep it up

Nice machine! Little difficult to hear you while its running through. Great video!
Yeah, I know, but it was more getting a video of the car running, as it was going to rain, and time was against me because of the weather. 😊😊
Sweet build Is this a nitro or is it like a dirt bike engine?
It's a 2 stroke so yes.
2 stroke with the big bore sound
Give that thing the romp hold it open!!!!!!!!
That will be happening ( pedal to the metal). I will be doing another video explaining my actions on the day I ran this baja. And the reason why.
Is there a purpose for punching the throttle so much ?
Yes.. it’s called

Replied before I watch the video and you are right. This dude is trigger-happy. Like dude just let her eat

True (Lol)😆
Being very, very patient until it's running in, then it will be pedal to the metal.
Are you going to give that thing any throttle it can't go without any throttle man?!
He needs to put his purse down slam that throttle
Next run will be on full throttle

I made this exhaust myself .you can not buy anywhere.
@@robertblunden7160 That's right
@@robertblunden7160 I really want it
More videos would like to see a top speed with a mph gun.
Yes, I be doing a video once they are run in and sorted out.😊😊😊
He can’t hold the trigger still long enough to do a top speed run
Chique carro baja 🏎💥💨😎🥰💪🏼👍🏻🤛🏻

its hobby grade you dont have to pull the trigger all the way ease onto it it sounds so bad

Is that engine as big turd as rovans 45

That’s annoying just kept blipping the throttle. 👎🏼👎🏼
Watch the latest video explaining why. Has a review the day it was running.
Cry about it. Welcome to breaking in a motor. But sure. Send him a new motor and I bet he'd love to hold it pinned for u on a new motor.
