The character here was a scrapped character created by a developer who had sadly passed away. The song was created in remembrance of him.

This mod kinda took everyone by surprise. If you want some more FNF with English vocals, I hope you check out the Funkadelix mod - in addition to the actual vocals, it fully remixes the the backing tracks, and not only do they fit super well, they _slap._
I DO feel like it's important to say that Funkadelix's lyrics do come with a bit of vulgarity, though I definitely recommend it too if it isn't too much of a dissuasion.

One of the best songs in FnF history, not only rhythmically, but the backstory of the song gave me goosebumps and nostalgia, the visuals and the meaning of "Silly billy" (he is a character originally designed by "Divide", sadly he died time ago, he left to us the idea of the character, and the community gave him a respectful and worthy tribute, it seems that the lyrics maybe are dedicated to him, his creator c: ). It was refreshing and the end of an era for FnF community, simply a beautiful design and rhythm
I think i read somewhere that the song was on the works while he was getting worse from a illness and the lyric part is the charecter begging the creator to stay awake long enough to see his creation flourish

This song is amazing and outstanding in the Fnf community, not only does it slap, but was made for a modder in the community known as “Divide” who was an artist for Vs sonic.exe who sadly passed away before the mods release. The character you rap against in silly billy, called yourself, was a character of Divide’s. Some of the lyrics such as “so stay awake just long enough to see” are referencing his passing. It’s amazing that the team did this for him. Even though the Fnf community is a toxic place sometimes, there still are good people in it.

I would really like to hear your version of those heavy and emotional lyrics on your violin that you make sound so incredible.
I just noticed how there was an increasing amount of red notes leading to the point where 'Yourself' was summoning his edition of GF, then once she went back to being dormant in his microphone, it switched to purpleish blue notes.
I think they’re just colored by quantization. Quarter notes are red, eighth notes are blue, and sixteenth notes are green. Many other rhythm games have this so they tried to apply it here. But then they turn it off so idk.

Man's an absolute menace (in a "wow, holy shit this stuff is fucking AWESOME!!!!!" kind of way.) so seeing this stuff get so huge is honestly awesome.
one thing i still love about the song is that the lyrics are foreshadowed in a way through leitmotifs. you hear it towards the beginning of the song in the usual FNF beeps. i think it adds to the experience and the impact of the lyrics personally!

As a violin player myself, I unbiasedly ask for a full violin cover of this song. The vocal part where the creator conveys his own feelings towards his sadly passed friend could be so empowering to hear
This mod got so popular and did so well where to the point where a music producer checks it out for themself. This just shows how decent and great this mod was, glad you enjoyed it honestly. Wonder if there will be more content like this on future high effort FNF mods.
Actually my favorite fnf song to date lol, even the instrumental sounds really good on its own. The same channel that released the original video has instrumental and vocal only versions of the song.
I am still curious about the sonic unleashed reactions i mentioned during the helldivers stream, but im patient enough and i can understand there may be complications with copyright and other stuff. If you need a source for the ost, deoxysprime posts a lot of sonic osts to their channel.

The lyrics while they do have a in lore meaning are mostly a ode to Divide, a dev of the OG Sonic.EXE Mod that passed away during the making of the V2 of the mod, he created the character in the song who’s named “Yourself”

the person who made silly billy died in their sleep one of the lyrics is "stay awake", as they were their friend.
its a saddening story about why the mod came into existence but im glad the owner of the mod still finished it for their friend. im glad they finished what the original maker was working on because now they'll be remembered forever, rip.

During the "So Long" verse you can faintly hear a female singer aswell speaking up
This is meant to, story wise, represent Herself, the lost girlfriend of Yourself (the singer and person your rapping against), reacting to his emotion to join in and try to show that she is still around, just inside his mike
Its a nice touch that goes really far to make this great
This being uploaded literally the same night I got my friend to play the mod for the first time is actually crazy
There are several comments explaining Divide and the meaning of the lyrics, but something i wanted to add is that while Yourself is singing to Herself, the actual lyrics are directed at Divide.
Theres just something about the character, and by extension the entire team that made this mod, calling out to Divide telling him he should be proud of what he's created.

Fun fact: silly Billy is from another fnf universe in the game, and Silly Billy had a gf, but she then died, and so Silly Billy called himself the nickname of what his girlfriend called him "silly billy", hence the name, Silly Billy.

I never played FnF but was really into the gameplays when it first came out. But then I totally forgot about it.
Then out of nowhere the singing part got recommend to me as a short, and I checked it out and was absolutely amazed.
The thing is that personally, the lyrics are so powerful; the want to make others proud by doing things "your way" is something that I always wanted to do, even more so in recent times as I've recently graduated college. It's one of the most motivational lines ever from a video game, and it'll definitely be relevant in my life for years.
If you want, the co-creator of the song posted an instrumental of this song, without vocals. Could make it easier to hear more subtle musical choices!

I like how when the focus is on Billy and the notes are kinda chill, BF just gets jiggy with it and switches animations. Very nice
The song once you look into what the lyrics during the singing section means genuinely gives me chills, like the "ill make you say" part is in reference to the character creator of silly billy who died, the "stay awake" bit in reference to them dying in their sleep. like the song having such a beautiful part with meaningful lyrics like that is amazing
