While diet is important and most of us in the US know our dietary habits overall aren’t the healthiest, the thing that’s missing here is that health and longevity in Blue Zones is about a holistic way of living, not simply diet. People in these zones are often active on a daily basis, minimize stress and emphasize the importance of social relationships. It’s the entire way of living where the sum is greater than the whole of the parts.

The old paradigm was that salt, saturated animal fats and palm oils were unhealthy. Then others have said these are okay or good for you --- and that it's refined sugar, refined seed oils, and starches (rice, pasta, corn, chips, biscuits, pastries, bread [except whole sourdough] that are unhealthy.
