I wish that he could replicate this exact tow and dredge set up today. The difference in the seed would astound you.

Barbaric fishing that ruins the whole sea bed.

I have been scalloping full time since 1976. I have worked with dredges 10ft to 15ft. The wire ratio was a little greater than 3/1 and we were using 15/9 ticklers. I was always told and assumed that the gooseneck and cutting bar should shine. I was completely surprised when I first saw the video and either one had very little interaction with the ocean floor. I am surmising that the shine is caused by little mounds that you see scattered about the bottom. Good luck. Kenneth Ochse.

The new turtle dredges the cutting bar and the bull plate don't shine on them when you tow them

    Scallop dredge, not a trawl.
