I have been scalloping full time since 1976. I have worked with dredges 10ft to 15ft. The wire ratio was a little greater than 3/1 and we were using 15/9 ticklers. I was always told and assumed that the gooseneck and cutting bar should shine. I was completely surprised when I first saw the video and either one had very little interaction with the ocean floor. I am surmising that the shine is caused by little mounds that you see scattered about the bottom. Good luck. Kenneth Ochse.

what is your cable ratio?im running around 3/1.so if were fishing 100ft we got 300ft of cable out.and u want the dredge to run nose high like that?ive been told u want some shine on the nose.how many tickler chains r u running and what size is the dredge?your setup seems to work very well.awsome vid!

Hi. These videos were captured using a standard GoPro HD camera mounted to the trawl and are mostly illuminated by the ambient light though we also added a small dive light which you can see in the lower center portion of the image.
