    What about sensor wires do you test for resistance and how much Ohm for the sensor side.
    I know you said the heater element is continuity, I'm interested in the signal side resistance.

    the pcm pull the ground to the heater circuit that what you said ,my question is does the pcm pulll or push as you said once you put the key to on position or when the engine starts for few moments then pcm cut the ground to the circuit ? also does it pull to ground every time the engine starts?

    Hai Pete, My 2008 GMC Denali is throwing p1133 and p1153 ( upstream oxygen sensors) again and again after changing with new GMC oxygen sensors. I will clear the code and after two days the same will come back. Checked vacuum leaks, cleaned MAF and throttle body, changed spark plugs and wires. Engine has a vibration at idle. RPM sits and 550. No other codes apart from the above. Any suggestions?

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts , I am having problems with my engine light coming on and I am checking the sensors . I am learning about how it’s workings .

      Richard Jimenez Hi tell me the trouble code you have so I can give you a good direction how to check or how to fix the problem!

      Mr305Maxxx Hi 👋 okay so you have a problem with the heater circuit in HO2 sensor Bank 2 sensor 1 wish is the one between the engine and the engine cooling radiator... first and before anything you have to che the owners manual and check if is a fuse dedicated to Heater O2 sensor! Second you need a voltage meter to check power and ground and continuity by disconnecting the connector from the H02 sensor and check the two wires with the same color! Cult be Teo white wires or two black wires! If no continuity in the wires the heater circuit on the sensor is bad... Ned to be replaced...

    • @PeteSambolin
      @PeteSambolin  4 года назад

      Mr305Maxxx the test you have to do is KOEO key on engine off in the two same heater wires but this time from the connector harness from the engine check power and ground.. yes! Is ground control by the ECM engine control module! But be careful because in today’s car technology engine computer work very fast 💨 and sometimes you have to clear the DTC to be able to do the test and be 100 % sure! Is a bad ECM or dad wires! Must likely is a bad sensor!

    when the pcm push the ground to heater to activate it, my question is how many time the griund to heater it take ? does it take moments then pcm cut the ground to heater?

    I could be wrong but I thought pull down hall effect sensors send power through the signal wire down to ground in the sensor so the sensor can input back to the computer? Still learning about all this so I'm not sure lol

      Jonis Janplin Hi okay let’s say we working on a Honda Civic 2009 and we are working in the front sensor O2(B1-S1) Sensor in construction, it’s operation is different. PCM applies voltage to the sensor zirconia element in pulse and measuring current flow across elements. PCM then adjusts air/fuel mixture accordingly. If mixture gets rich, resistance elements increases causing current to drop and is become leaner resistance decreases causing current to rise... so in a Air/ fuel Ratio sensor works the opposite of a regular O2 sensor in a regular sensor if the voltage go higher is rich and is the voltage go below 400 mili volt is leaner
      Condition.., know in the 4 wires in this particular air/fuel ratio sensor you have 1 wire color coded white that is sensor ground. Then you have the Blue wire and that’s your A/F sensor signal. Then you have a black wire wish is heater control PCM supply ground went ever is needed. Then the Other black wire that supply power that’s means key on engine off supply battery power know key on engine running supply charging voltage so is the alternator is supplying 14.08 volt that’s is what you going too see in the power wire..NOTE: some PCM kill the ground went they see sensor disconnected... you have to clear DTC then do the test..

    If there is a problem with O2 Heater Sensor, is it possible to get codes for running rich ( P0172, P0175 ) even though NO codes are set for Heater Sensors? Thank You!

    • @PeteSambolin
      @PeteSambolin  6 лет назад

      Tony T. Okay!!! Let’s say that you’re working on a Ford product and you have the P0175 and the P0172 that’s both Bank are running Rich in Fuel... My first test I doo is to go to DATA Pids and check if my Heater O2 sensor have the battery voltage supply! If is yes! Go to the actual sensor and check for power and ground... if that pass the test! Check the numbers on only on Bank 1 Sensor 1 and Bank 2 Sensor 1 and see if the number moves from 100 to 800 in bolt Bank if the number are stuck like in 100 to 300 means they are stuck in lean condition equals rich command... if that pass the Test then doo this test! Select in the scanner only Bank 1 Sensor 1 and Bank 2 Sensor 1 then select fuel trim short term for the two Banks apply emergency break and apply break! Check numbers at idle if the truck or car is running rich numbers should be over 11 to 15 and should be close to zero is the perfect number! Know take engine RPM to 2,500 to 3,000 rpm and watch the short term Fuel trim numbers if the numbers gets better means you have a vacuum leak in the intake manifold ... if the number gets worse means you have fuel delivery problem! Know because you have the P0172 and P0175 together means you probably have MASS Air Flow Sensor problem a dirty Mass Air can create a Fuel delivery problem and the numbers go up with a dirty Mass!

      Definitely too much fuel the call that in the tech world cylinder wash down! 1988 Dodge Aris 2.2 probably smokes black at the exhaust tailpipe! First check the map sensor for having the proper vacuum! Then after the engine is turned off! Take the carburetor cover and see if smoke coming out! If it is your flouts needs too be calibrated… need more information to help you!

    i replaced two bad sensors and a catalytic converter that was broken inside i also changed the plugs and wires and fixed a shorted wire from bank one. the code now is p0054 i have continuity between my o2 sensor harnese disconnected from the rear o2 sensor and the body of my car . the key is off battery is out of the car fuse pulled ECM connected or disconnected same results continuity between 3 of 4 wires and care body does any of this seem normal ? the car is an 08 pontiac grand prix v6 3800 any suggestions

    • @PeteSambolin
      @PeteSambolin  7 лет назад

      Fred Delgado okay went you say continuity between 3 and 4 fuse is out and ECM disconnected! You mean the two Heater wire have continuity between each other?

    • @freddelgado4187

      Pete Sambolin thank you for getting back to me i appreciate your videos .well this am my battery cables got very hot connecting them to the battery. I disconnected fuse box, alternator, and starter wires. Reconnect batterie and the battery wires get hot. My red cable should not be connected to anything else. I'm guessing a short in the harness grounding to the car. Yesterday tried using a signal tracker and the whole car gave off the signal.

      Fred Delgado so P0054 is the Heater resistance Bank 1 sensor 2 that's the One you fix the wire hardness? If is yes by any chance you switch wires? Sorry for the delay in answering you back I'm working today!

      For example if you got a DTC for a heater O2 sensor that the description saying Circuit is too high means that either the sensor is disconnected or a mouse eat the wires or you have a broken wire … every time you have a word Circuit and Ani de

      @PeteSambolin  2 года назад

      Any DTC is because you have a wires problem in the hardness or in the connectors …

      There are no dtc's..but for over a year I have been trying to get the O2 heater monitor to set,and it just will not

      @@johnmilner6484 Depending in the vehicle you drive! Is specific rod test that you force the car computer to get ready the HO2 sensor! For example in Chevy you on the express at 55 mph and reduces speed to 35mph without pressing the brake pedal… do that like 3 times in like 30 minutes….and will get the O2 sensor ready!!!
