    I’ve done this diet every year since 2012 for only 3 weeks to one month at a time. It definitely works, but like the video says, “it’s extremely boring”. My weight loss, and I’m convinced that it’s primarily excess water & fat loss as I regularly use a power meter, is usually 10 pounds after week one, six pounds after week two, three pounds after week three, and a halting one pound by the fourth week where I always bail out. I usually have two spaced out cheat days, and end up shredded looking, but I just can’t stick to it beyond one month. My results usually last about 3 to 4 months as I return to all of the prohibited white carbs. If you need to drop 20-30 pounds in one month, definitely give this diet a one month commitment, and you’ll look much better (stronger), feel lighter & tighter, and you’ll be much more mentally sharp.

    Thank you for this great summary of the 4 Hour Body. I got the book on Audible and am so excited to begin. One thing I began at the new year is no longer eating past 8pm and it has *totally* changed my (unhealthy) relationship with snacking at night. Now I'm adding the 4HB and look forward to seeing the results. My weight is normal and I'm looking to gain muscle.

    I started this program back in Oct/23 and I have lost 30 lbs. I don't find it boring at all. The cheat days are the best. If you are craving anything during the week, you get to eat it on your cheat day to satisfy your craving. I do have milk in my tea, other than that I stick to the plan. I don't need to loose anymore weight.

    Do you know dr. Gundry and his book "plant paradox" where he lectures about lectins in legumes and lentils and that they are harmful because they are poisonos protection thingis which should keep humans from eating them. Also bloating is a big topic. As a vegan I like Tims suggestions, but I am a little confused now.

      @xavierdole7307 4 года назад

      Galliano Marr if it makes it easier you can take key points from Gundry
      But personally (even tho I havnt tried Tim Ferris) I would trust Tim Ferris more as he seems more genuine and seems like he is trying to help people and not the money (his net worth is over 300 million).
      While Gundry seems to be selling you a lot. Idk fo your own research a lot of people seem to disagree with his book. I have read the plant paradox btw

    • @lovesense7246
      @lovesense7246  4 года назад +9

      Galliano Marr hey man. Sorry for taking so long to respond. I'm no expert, but I have read a bunch of nutrition books and I have read The Plant Paradox and know a little bit about lectins. Although I didn't mention it in this video, Tim Ferriss does mention lectins and vegan diets in the last chapter of The 4 Hour Body (The Meatless Machine II). This is a quote from that section of the book:
      "High-calorie vegetarian meal plans are hard to digest. Diets high in plant foods contain a ton of fiber and lectins. Fiber is good for us in the right amount, but when fiber is consumed in excess, it prevents the digestion and absorption of nutrients. It also upsets the stomach, leading to diarrhea, gas, and bloating.
      Furthermore, lectins can be problematic in and of themselves. Many people are lectin intolerant, and consumption leads to symptoms similar to lactose intolerance: massive bloating, flatulence, and diarrhea. In fact, when I followed my plant-based diet, by the end of the day, my waist circumference, which is 32 inches upon rising, ballooned up to a full 42 inches. Not attractive, and very uncomfortable."
      I think lectin containing foods such as legumes, nightshade vegetables, and grains such as wheat cause bloating and inflammation in most people, but if you read the book The Blue Zones Solutions by Dan Buettner (I will be making a video about it soon), you get to read about the diets of the longest living people in the world, and a fair amount of them eat these foods... confusing, I know.
      Although I haven't read Steven Gundry's newest book (The Longevity Paradox), I heard that in it, he says that you can eat some lectin containing foods in moderation as long as they're cooked right:
      1. Pressure cooked legumes
      2. Deseeded and peeled nightshade vegetables
      3. Fermented grains and soy products
      Apparently, these cooking methods destroy the lectins in these foods. This makes sense because in many countries and regions around the world where people live a long time, they follow these practices: Steven Gundry says that in European countries such as Italy, tomatoes are deseeded and peeled before they are eating; in the Greek island of Ikaria (a blue zone), they eat fermented rye bread; in Japan, they eat fermented soy beans (natto).
      As I said, I'm no expert, and the more I read, the more confusing it becomes, so my advice is to pay attention to your body and try to make the healthiest decision that you can. How do you feel after eating these foods? If you feel bloated/inflamed, maybe avoid them. Consider getting your genome sequence from 23andme and send your results to an expert who can help you interpret it and tell you what should and shouldn't eat according to your genetics. I believe Dr. Ben Lynch offers this service.
      As a vegan, you're obviously putting yourself in a tight situation when it comes to food, but you can definitely be a very healthy person if you know what you're doing. However, if you're willing to cheat a little bit, eating a small amount of shellfish such as oysters or clams just once a week can make your vegan life a lot easier. Shellfish is rich in vitamin B12 and a bunch of other nutrients vegans are usually deficient in. I heard this from Chris Kresser, but feel free to ignore this if you want, just make sure you're taking the right supplements and eating the right foods. Although I'm not 100% vegan, my diet is mostly vegan, but I do eat shellfish once a week and take a lot of supplements.
      I probably wrote a lot more than you wanted to read and I went off topic, but to answer your question; the slow carb diet is meant to help you lose weight. The plant paradox diet is supposed to help you lose weight AND apparently also fight off diseases... Not sure if Steven Gundry is a fraud; I know a lot of people criticize him, but so many others who follow the plant paradox plan claim to have benefitted from it. He seems pretty legit to me, but again, I don't know!
      Good luck!

    Some healers here say that you shouldnt drink water in between meals because it thins your digestive liquids in your belly. Most people with overweight already suffer with not enough digestive acid/liquid, so drinking water in between is thining it even more. They recommend to drink lemon water 30 minutes before your meal to strengthen your acids.

      Love Sense ANY book says "eat more fruits and vegetables". Who are you trying to convince?

    • @lovesense7246
      @lovesense7246  4 года назад

      Rafał Dydkiem Machał I would assume most books recommend eating vegetables. Some might tell you to eat fruit as well because it’s filled with vitamins and other nutrients, but fruit is sugar and most people eat more than enough of it. I’m no expert on the topic, but reputable people such as Steven Gundry, Dave Asprey and David Perlmutter would all agree that fruit has a better reputation than it deserves. In Okinawa, Japan, people lived for a VERY long time without ever eating fruit. Fruit wasn’t grown there. In the island of Ikaria, Greece, and the island of Sardinia, Italy, people only ate fruit in moderation during the summer, and the people in those islands also lived for a very long time. Whether or not fruit is that good for you is definitely still a topic of debate. Even more so when it comes to low sugar fruits such as berries, but according to what I’ve read, in most cases eating more fruit won’t improve one’s health... but I could be wrong, so do whatever makes sense to you.

    This was really well done but NOT a summary of the 4 hour body. I was looking for help on figuring out the overall pathways the book has to offer which is why I chose this video but you're missing everything to do with sleep, strength gain, muscle building, smart drugs, long distance running, sprinting, jumping, and more. You need to be honest about titles or people will call you on it.

  • @This_Justin001
    @This_Justin001 2 года назад

    The technical part of the video was well done but the fact is that this diet is very restrictive & is deficient in micronutrients. Not eating fruit means you have to miss out on a ton of very nutrient dense foods. Saying that spinach contains essential micros is true but look at the numbers. You'd need to eat 18 cups of raw spinach to hit your magnesium requirements for the day & 28 cups of raw spinach to hit your potassium requirements. Also, by restricting your food choices so much you create an obsession with your cheat days which will often be counterproductive to a person's ability to create healthy & sustainable habits. Restricting food groups has never been a good thing from my experience. Eliminating things like Quinoa, Amaranth, fruit, rice, oats, honey, peanut butter, etc., is limiting your ability to get all of the nutrients you require just from food over 48 hours as most of us must do. Instead, forcing you to supplement.
