Nice video I met you at the boat dock on Hayden Lake this summer. I have a quick question, what type and weight of line are you using for the rig. Thanks Neil.
Not true with Leader length, I catch plenty of Kokes at 18”. 2-3 times flasher length and even longer with a spinner or cup on your bait. If it has too much movement fish tend to miss or not bother striking. I’ve fished Kokanee for 20 years and that’s my experience
I was just there yesterday tried kokanee for the first time but had no luck.. No idea what I'm doing but I'll be going again soon since I live only 15min away.. any tips specifically at spirit lake?
@@fbiagent3399 Troll the points at 1.0 to 1.2 mph. I have been hooking them at 18-22 ft. Corn soaked in Anise. I alternate between a dodger and blades with a hoochie. They seem to hit pink most often. White and chartruse works well too. I have some rainbow hoochies and they have never hit them. If they just aren't hitting, I go with microblades and a wedding ring, same bait.
@@CerberusOnFire I'm going today to spirit lake.. will be going for perch/crappie since I don't really have anything useful for kokanee.. just very new to all of this.. do you have A instagram or Facebook that you can share yo setup with??.
@@fbiagent3399 I don't have either of those, but my rigs are pretty simple. For bass, crappie, perch, bluegill, I typically run a bait hook, 1/8oz split shot about 12" up. I use a worm threader so the worm covers the whole hook and the hook is at the very back of the worm. Toss it out, count to 5 and slow reel in. For Kokanee, I run two rigs. First one is a dodger with a hoochie about 10-12 inches back and tipped with garlic or anise soaked white shoepeg corn. Set the speed to 1mph and adjust the bend in the dodger until you get a nice whipping motion on the hoochie. My second rig is flashers with a wedding ring about 24" back, also tipped with garlic or anise soaked shoepeg corn. That second rig will often also get lake trout with a higher speed of 1.4 to 2.0 mph. I vary my speeds from .8 to 1.4 mph and I don't troll in a straight line. Run a couple minutes, turn 20 degrees, couple minute, back 20 degrees, etc. This causes the line on the inside to slow and drop and the outside to speed up and rise. That change often gets strikes.
He's helped me with getting ideas for kokanee fishing at my local kokanee reservoir
Glad to hear it!!
What size hooks are you using?
Size 4 brotha! Big river bait hooks by gomagatsu
Quick question buddy are you using a barrel swivel to connect to the flasher
honestly you can use anything u can even tie the line in a loop knot. or a duo snap or interlock snap swivel or a barrel
Thanks for the video. QQ do you use a sinker? Does the flasher sink?
Down rigger or snap weights brotha
Thanks so much bro. How far up do you put your weight from your flasher? I'm a little bit confused. Some people say 50 feet, some people say 2 feet.
@@Falcon361 I run 50 ft when I use snap weights
So sick dad keep it up!
Thanks! Will do!

Hey Neil, Great question I actually use a 50lbs braid for my main line but than I run a 17lbs bumper to my dodger
Good to know about the main and bumper line but what I wanted to know was the line used to snell tie the hooks. Thanks
@@neilpaskewitz8861 yes sir! Also known as a double non slip mooching rig. I have a video of it on my channel!!
