- SAMMY HAGAR, The Red Rocker! Danger Zone, what an album, what a guitar tone. I've always loved it. In this video I'll talk about the album and show some of the guitar riffs (how I would play them, anyways, I make no claim that it is accurate).
Join me on the first part of my journery of reliving my youth through some great Rocking Guitar Albums.
Sam Roy Hagar (born October 13, 1947), also known as the Red Rocker, is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He rose to prominence in the early 1970s with the hard rock band Montrose before launching a successful solo career, scoring a hit in 1984 with "I Can't Drive 55". He enjoyed further commercial success when he replaced David Lee Roth as the lead vocalist of Van Halen in 1985, but left in 1996. He returned to the band from 2003 to 2005.
Danger Zone is the fifth studio album by American rock vocalist Sammy Hagar, released in June 1980 by Capitol Records. This is his last studio album during his tenure with Capitol Records. The album includes appearances by then Journey singer Steve Perry and guitarist Neal Schon. The album peaked at number 85 on the Billboard 200 album charts on July 12, 1980. - Видеоклипы
Please do let me know in the comments what your favourite Sammy Hagar album is ! Hope you enjoy the video, I thought I would something a wee bit different on a Monday.
Grazie mille per il video! 🇮🇹
Standing Hampton. The song "Heavy Metal" is what made me fall in love with the sound of the electric guitar.
Killer tune 🤘
The late Church Ruff also played in the Edgar Winter Group if I'm not mistaken. One of them joined Boston.
For me Street Machine, probably because it was my first Sammy album. Still love it today.
Another killer album 🤘
I bought this cassette from the discount section about 1982. I was not disappointed!
A classic, 100%.
I may be crazy but I aint no fool ! Awesome song Love or money.
Those solos, killer.
That 20th century man riff also reminds me a bit of the kids are back Twisted Sister. Great track.
I might well be doing a TS album for this series too!
Very cool! Yeah, Sammy had some serious tone.
Absolutely. Some killer lead work on this album too. Definitely my fave Sammy solo record.
👍🏻👍🏻
Thank ya Sir.
*_Great episode, Dunsy! My favorite is definitely Standing Hampton. I ran into to him in San Francisco in 1982. He couldn’t have been nicer. Super down to earth guy._* 🎸🤘
Love me some Sammy Hagar!
banging 😃
Thank ya!
Sammy kicks ass
He does indeed!
Excellent video Dunsy! Very pleasant surprise. My vote is for "9 On A 10 Scale." Silver Lights is my jam
Thank ya buddy. A great debut from The Red Rocker.
The late Chuck Ruff also played in the Edgar Winter Group if I'm not mistaken. One of them joined Boston.
I didn't actually know that until I did a bit more research into the players on the album. A really great release, even now listening to it I'm blown away by how good it sounds.
saw sammy on the street machine tour glasgow apollo, great gig, great band, and sammys guitar playing was good, should have continued in the solo vein
Crazy how he never did any guitar in Montrose - he's a fine player.
Fave Sammy album Standing Hampton. Me dad was a massive Hagar fan so grew up whith him and I always said Van Halen were better with Roth and Hagar solo. Quite like the first Montrose album as well but only discovered that recently.
Yeah, if I had the choice I would rather listen to Sammy solo and VH with DLR.
Dunsey,
I’ve got to buy a copy of that album now 👍I guess we know where BG got that famous riff from 🍺
A solid 10/10 album.
Buy it fella. Fantastic stuff.
I could not tell what's my favorit Hagar album , but your video is very interesting , with cool playing from you when you're showing the guitar parts !! Yes thosee guitar parts are awsome , and those solos!
Mate i love to see your records , you are telling the story very well !As i said , really interesting !!You rock Dunsy!!!
Thank ya, Christophe - man I still got a ton of those records at home!
I have to confess, I think i bought Standing Hampton for the cover!😆
Then hid it away from my mum alongside Love Drive and Animal Magnetism!
There's only one way to rock has such a great riff too.
With a copy of Nice 'N' Dirty in there as well, lol!
And Sammy is a great player in his own right too..... Hey, Chuck Ruff was in Edgar Winter's group in the 70's..... which other albums of Sammy would you recommend?? Can't beat the old vinyl days....
Yeah, he's a great player - I guess the Live album would be a go to. Other than that the albums on either side of this one, Street Machine and Standing Hampton.
Danger zone is also my favourite Sammy Hagar album. Apart from that song Heartbeat, I think it's great. Did you get the poster with yours?
Yeah, Heartbeat is a wee bit lightweight on an otherwise Rocking album - hmmm.... I honestly can't remember if there was a poster. Didn't find one when I dug out the vinyl the other day.
@@DunsysGuitarWorld it had all the fans names on it from the previous UK tour.
First album was All Night Long - Gatefold Import.
It was same as a friends elder brother’s Loud and Clear in coloured vinyl but, sadly, with Space Station No. 5 omitted.
I liked Street Machine.
He had a fine run of albums back then - I was listening to the Live 1980 show that's on Spotify, man they are playing fast!
@@DunsysGuitarWorld
Yeah. Realise that now - the energy.
The bit in on the album where Bill ‘The Electric’ Church is introduced and the ‘All Night Long’ lines always springs to mind.
