Dunsy is doubley qualified for this review because Kurt and Dave were guests at one of his bands (Joyriders) gigs. (As exposed on the BBC documentary "When Nirvana Came to Britain" ! )
That was quite the weekend in Scotland! Seeing Nirvana live 3 times - 2 electric and 1 acoustic. And having a couple of beers. Going to work on the Monday morning was a bit of a killer though, I still remember it 33 years later, lol!
I've got mine four months ago and I'm amazed with its versatility, it feels like a Gibson in many ways but still a Fender. You can go from warm open chords and arpegios with the rhytm circuit selected to brutal metal chugging with the Superdistortion in the bridge position. Many people might give this guitar a miss thinking it's a one trick pony but it's the complete oposite, it has even replaced my American Strat as my main guitar.
This was the most honest and perfect review of Cobain’s Jaguar. A real musician who plays music on a regular basis and his music is not even close in style as that of Nirvana. You, sir, did and excellent job explaining the features of this guitar. Thank you so much for posting this review. 👍🏽
Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, I was very much just trying to describe what the guitar is like for any player, rather than just buying it because of its association. It's a great all round guitar.
i have the road worn, they replicated it so well. also it has a nice nitro finish what i love. it sounds stunningly beautiful, so versatile but also stupidly expensive nowadays
Same here, I have the relic’d 2011 model year (came out for 20th anniversary of Nevermind) and wouldn’t trade it for the world. I got it for a steal at $650 from a local guy who was trying to buy a used Gibson and wanted sell it asap. As a huge Nirvana and Kurt fan, this guitar hits all the spots!
Thank ya - yeah, I'm very much about the short scale these days. I remember my granny getting wee-er as she got older. I'm maybe the same and need a shorter guitar. I'll be rocking a Uke in aboot a decade, lol!
Yeah, those pickup selector switches always seemed a bit much for me - this is easier on my brain. I just need to be careful no to hit the top switch when I have everything on the rhythm circuit set to OFF!
Yooo divine hammer reference!?! I was like “i swear this sounds insanely familar” and then u played the melody and it clicked lol! Tysm for this video im a nirvana fan but not diehard, however i am really interested in this guitar! I love alt rock and punk rock music and even pop so this video is really helpful to make sure that if I get this guitar ill have the ability of playing whatever i want. awesome guy 👍
Thanks for checking it out - yeah, I absolutely think that this is a super versatile guitar and can cover a whole lot of styles. The pickups are fantastic sounding.
I have one of these and couldn't agree more. It's nice to see a different perspective and showing this guitar without playing Nirvana riffs the whole time. I've always been a fan of Nirvana, but it had very little to do with my purchase of this guitar. It looks, plays and sounds great, but is also surprisingly versatile and unique in it's own way. I think more people would appreciate it if not for the understandable assumption that it's only for playing Nirvana tunes. The pickups are a great combo. It can snarl as a rock machine, but can clean up pretty well, and still gives some of that "steely" Jag jangle. Good video. 👊
Thanks for checking it out, my friend. Yeah, you're exactly right - I described it to my friend as a "rocker guitar for folks that want to try an offset".
I do like Nirvana, though I'm not a super fan. What attracts me to this is the tone options and general love of offsets. It ticks more boxes than I even knew I had.
Love it, Dunsy! Even if one feels compelled to give a nod to Kurt, the beauty of a guitar like this is the versatility of it. I play just about everything that I want on a Les Paul I don't see this as being any different, in principle. Rock on, brother!
Yeah, it plays really nice and sounds great. I think the simplified controls, the humbuckers and the tunomatic are perfect for my needs. It's braw, as they say round these parts!
That's a lovely Jag and glad you've personalised it to your taste. It's got a really nice-looking rosewood board too. You say you're not too keen on single coils but does that include the doughty dog-eared version commonly found in some single pick up, single or double cutaway guitars of a certain name?
I love offsets/short-scale guitars and swapped my stock Jaguar for the new (cheap) contemporary series with humbuckers that can do split-coil. Fantastic and very versatile guitars, so agree 100%.
Thanks for reminding me - need to go and listen to The Breeders, been too long!😊 Could easily have space for one of these in the guitarsenal but trying to keep a lid on it!😬 Great playing too of course!
That mustang looks cool on you. I would be happy with that Jagmaster I always loved them. Can you do more live show videos. A compilation from diferente venues. Cheers from Portugal. 👍🤘
@@DunsysGuitarWorld That would be fun,I liked watching that video were the drummer picked you up and you recorded the trip with some background music and then bits of the live show.
my mate has a mij jagstang, a cobain design, didnt think i would like it,dont dig nirvana much and a strange looking beast, suprisingly i found it quite a versatile guitar, lots of tone options

I loved the nitro finish, but I always scratched my head at the logic of building an "authentic" right handed replica of a left handed guitar,
Divinely hammered Dunsy😊
That really is versatile though. Id love to try one someday.
Cracking tune - good spot! What an album.
Tis a beast! and totally suits ya sir 😎👍 Loving your short scale journey 👌
Awesome outro track as always👌

Funny! But you might be right.. Maybe I should start stocking up on short scales too 😂👍
Just ordered this guitar which has been my dream guitar ever since I started playing 4 years ago! I’m so excited!!!
Excellent! I really like it, I have to say. Good choice 👍
Im gonna buy it soon! I started playing 4 years too and it has been my dream guitar since then too LOL
Sounds nicely man!! Love the classic rock tone
Thank ya for checking it out - lovely sounding and playing guitar.
Dunsy that’s a lovely looking and sounding guitar 👍🍺
Aye, it's braw!
Very nice! I've always been put off by the multitude of controls on Jaguars but all those chrome control plates add to the vibe.

Nice looking guitar, Dunsy.
Sounds great too.
Yeah, definitely a fine instrument. Loving it so far.
Great!
Thank ya!
That’s a good all rounder Dunsy. I’d cheerfully gig that. Really versatile.
It’s a lovely instrument, for sure - sounds great up LOUD too!
I do love the specs of this. My offsets have all had JM pups so far. Thinking I need to go down the HB route with whatever comes next…!
I definitely think an offset with humbuckers would be a good decision, Sir.

What an album Last Splash is - brilliant band, with killer tunes. If you get one of these fine guitars, your secret is safe with me, no worries there!
Gorgeous guitar
A looker, for sure. Plays really well too.
