- Noah snowshoes into an old ranger cabin for the weekend. The route takes much longer than anticipated as the seasons change making lake crossings difficult.

My buddies and I passed this place on a big canoe trip a few years ago. We borrowed the radio to listen to the final tragically hip concert at our final camp site. Still the most Canadian moment I’ve ever experienced.

That's sweet man.
Sound of silence, smell of fire and pizza baking, breathing cool, clean air, and watching the dancing lights of the forest spirits after a fulfilling hard day...thanks for sharing the experience! My weekend is complete. Priceless!
I live in NS, it's good to know that these places still exist. I wish that I had the health to go there again.
Cool that local saved you some time! I love how most rural Canadians help/look out for each other. Wish there was more of that down here in the states.
Thanks for the video. I live in the States and own a place on the South Shore. Nova Scotia is a gem and the residents are second to none. Not surprised that the cabin was taken care of so well. Can't wait to return.
Thank You . i'm 70 now And Don't Get To Do Things. As I Did When I Was Your Age . So I Enjoyed Seeing You Out There ! :)
you are so lucky to have access to something as beautiful as that cabin and you respect it the problem is to many people dont respect it good for you
Looks like Sweden 😀
@@thomashoog2745 Its on a small island in eastern Canada. I think its called Oak Island
Lovely spot, and winter means no bugs!
What a sweet weekend Noah!! And just want to tell you how much I love the Loon call 🙂
I watch your channel offerings from my home at the and of a dirt road in rural Thailand. I enjoy the feelings of nostalgia I have from my youth in NB and NS. You're sweet guys and I love the connections you encourage to the outdoors. I hope more Canadians will want to put down their mobile phones and get out into this lovely wilderness. Thanks!!
Apparently this cabin was built in 1928 as a DNR patrol cabin and is on Crown land. It has been maintained, the last number of years, by caring individuals who appreciate and use the back country.
I would love to kniw the location of this cabin to take my father and son,3 of us did back country camping at kejimkujik park in ns last summer,it was amazing except the low water level and huge rocks we had to avoid on the lakes
Wonderful spot! Long haul to get there, too bad you couldn't have stayed two nights! Thanks for sharing!
nice to see a young man who knows about an obligation and willingly does the right thing...,be safe, have fun, and just do it......peace,pj
Nice that you replaced the wood and kindling for the next visitor. Backcountry etiquette?
What a gorgeous little cabin!!! Great video💪🏼
Wow! What a cabin!
Just found your channel. Excellent quality and effort put into your videos, you just earned yourself a new sub. Your channel is definitely gonna blow up soon brother
Much love, dude
Great video, really well put together. I have stayed in that cabin several times, arrived in spring and summer and fall by canoe, never walked in. It is so cool that it is looked after by volunteers and kept so clean and tidy. You should try Cofan cabin on the Shelburne river in the Tobeatic wilderness area. Also an open cabin. cheers from Lunenburg County NS
This is the way humans should conduct themselves. Nice to see.
Watching from Glasgow, Scotland . Quality place 👍👍
Love the cabin trips!
I really enjoyed this video...I wished it had been longer....
Beautiful country. Thank you for sharing your journey.
My family owns a cabin on silver river on the old new france settlement in sou’west nova scotia. About an hour and a half by buggy, couple days by foot. My father would always bring me there as a youngster and i grew up having a fascination and an appreciation for old hunting camps and the history that comes with them. Awesome to see someone who comes from the same ilk. Loved the video, would love to see more videos about the old cabins of Nova Scotia. Cheers!
Nothing better than a frosty after 6 hours on the misery slippers.
A cabin video I haven't seen? Cool!
Yes, my backyard is gorgeous
Awesome cabin. You can see there is so much history there.
I love your channel. I work 24/7 and dont drive. I'd literally pay to do any of this with you.
Epic adventure! I lived worked and adventure in Nova Scotia for 4 yrs! Cheers 🍻
A cozy cabin sure helps with the experience.
The best part of camping in March in the North country? No mosquitoes! lol I met a man from Nova Scotia years ago. He lived near the coast when he was growing up. He told me the wealthy kids from the farms took meat sandwiches in their lunch pails to school. The poor kids had lobster sandwiches. Beautiful country there. Thanks, Northern Scavenger. Subbed.
Jack pine Savage my father-in-law would go out after dark to bury the lobster shells, so people would not find out they were so poor that they ate lobster.
Crazy! How things have changed
I realy enjoy your adventures ,thanks for sharing
Peaceful stuff. Always appreciate the reinforcement of backcountry etiquette too
Thanks Jon, you and me both!
I enjoyed that so much living vicariously through you I would love to have ever done that
New sub here. Excellent stuff vid for sure. Love these winter vids. Thanks Dan from Jersey
Great winter adventure,,,,thanks for sharing

Happy Spring & safe travels from Cascadia PNW USA.
Nice little outing, thanks for sharing man 😀
I would love a month there. That would be a good start. My dream!
Just discovered you...this was fabulous. I love it. Would love to be snow shoeing now too! Unfortunately its rain in ne us today.😩🥾🥾
Dead is the operative word for firewood, never cut down live trees for firewood. Dead means once cut its ready to burn.dead trees are all over the forest, some standing others that have already fallen.
Love your sense of adventure and respect for those who were there before you.
Cheers!
Very nicely presented Sir. CMJ
Pretty great. Thanks, Noah. 🌄
Loved this! Thanks for taking us along.
My goal in the next year is to find a cabin i can live in, want to be in the wild. So the cabin you stayed in is what I'm looking for.
Loving your channel, so glad I stumbled upon it.
Great adventure beautiful cabin. I will be building similar come spring. The old cabin looks in great shape. We stay in similar when we go fishing throughout N.B.
You must hate leaving some of these spots. I know i would. I have a lot of family in Nova Scotia that I haven’t seen in years. Would be nice to take a trip and visit. Thanks for sharing buddy i love your videos.
Canoed there quite a few years back. Lovely spot. Good to see it's being kept up.
Kudos to everyone who has helped keep this place in great shape
Earl Woodworth - is there website to find directions to this cabin? I live if Halifax and would love to check it out. I am assuming you can paddle there, just wondering where to put in
@@dwc4303, if you can dig up a copy of 'Backwoods Cabins of Nova Scotia' by Bud Inglis you will find a description and grid reference for the cabin. It is on Rocky Lake to the North and West of Keji. Put in off Route 8. I believe we used Pine Rd. to access the lakes but it is gated. You could put in at the Milford House and paddle down.
loved this! thanks for sharing your life!
Great video! Thanks
I want to be there - watching from Florida.
So cool! You're like the my self reliance guy but without all the construction:) still a lot of work though. Good on you for processing all that firewood!
Shawn is WAY more advanced than me haha. Thanks for watching
Not really, nothing he has done requires any in depth knowledge or skill sets....he started not knowing anything....its just a matter of perseverance. There are literally millions of people just like him....There's no doubt in my mind you can accomplish the same ....Now get the cabin built and get a dog lol....
Very nice video, a little jealous of you to have found such a spot 👍 thank's for sharing,
Sylvain, Québec
A mini vacation can definitely do one good !
Take care of it so it's there and ready for others !

Being from Africa and now in Aus, it is so interesting to check out outdoor exploits involving the snow. Looks like it gets a little tricky at times

Pretty cool mini adventure. I’m going through withdrawals, missing the Alex and Noah fishing from a canoe adventures. Those are my favourite, but I certainly appreciate all you guys do

Awesome man. Love your adventures. I've been to that cabin a few times by canoe. There's a beauty of a beach camp site on the next lake up. I'm glad to see that the cabin is still in good shape.
Thanks Chris, I would love to get back in there by canoe one day.
Have you ever gone to one of these wilderness cabins and people were already there?
Nice trip
Quite the adventure & a great setting. Can you duplicate the trip with a canoe in the summer? You sure have a lot more energy than I can summon. Thanks Brian 78
This cabin can be canoed to through a chain of flat water lakes and few minor portages
what a find !
Just fantastic the thing dreams are made of David from Detroit
sweet!
Love these videos and the style of the adventurer. I have many wonderful memories of exploring Ontario.
Sweet !
Nice dude! That cabin is unreal! Is it rent-able/bookable, or just first come first serve?
Love seeing the open water!
Other than Keji, all backcountry spots in Nova Scotia are first come first serve. Gotta love it!
Great cabine, super spot !!!
I envy you so much I would love to have done something like that, too old now...
love your adventures... ATB
