  • Once I thought: it would be nice to learn how to ride a monowheel, but for this you need to buy a monowheel first.
I took a different path: at first I imagined myself riding a monowheel.
Since the most accessible material for me is metal, I decided to make a figure of a person riding a monowheel. As if, a self-portrait in the future. Desired self-portrait.
First I made a cartoon, a funny character. I did not give the figure features of a portrait resemblance. In addition, it remains to be seen whether or not I will succeed in riding a monowheel, and I refused to give this figure my own features.
I took the usual material of which I have a lot. It's sheet metal. And he began to make a figure using the cold forging method. I made fragments of the figure with the help of the simplest tools, I used the simplest tools, which I showed in this video: these are hammers, chisels, punches, consumables. punching and forging tools. Of course, it was not without such a tool as a grinder.
What happened in the end you saw in this video.
This material suggests a heroic image: metal is toughness, weight and decisiveness.
There is a certain heroism in unicycle riding, to drive confidently and resolutely on one wheel. There is something heroic about this.
Perhaps this character will inspire me and I will buy myself a monowheel and learn to ride it.
I think I will devote one more video to this figure, sculpture.
I will show technology more closely. What tool to work with and in what sequence. I'll show you how folds are made, for example.
    This is a well-known technology.
    A little bit about yourself:
Arkady Kovalchuk - I've been working with metal for about thirty years.
Kovalchuk is not a pseudonym, paradoxically, but a real surname.
Unlike the world of people and metal that I am used to, where I am:
The head and founder of the studio-workshop: sculptor Arkady Leonidovich Kovalchuk, a member of the Union of Artists since 1998, a member of the Moscow Sculptors' Association - I regularly participate in art exhibitions and festivals in Russia and abroad, I have personal exhibitions. and so on and so forth ... Here I am a real beginner, just comprehending the most interesting world of RUclips.
I'll start with very simple and maybe even somewhat comic sketches. I will smoothly move on to stories and demonstrations of making more complex products.
Knowledge of technologies, processing methods, tools (including homemade ones) - I will try to convey my accumulated experience.
I will try to be useful, interesting and in demand in this field!
