    I had just gotten a new Betta and it was quite small and I noticed that when I gave it a couple of pellets it tried to eat it but the pellet was overall way to big for its mouth. I got my betta yesterday. He’s a red koi plakat male. The food I got is these little pellets but they look like bloodworms. Russell seemed to enjoy his morning feed, I gave him 3 but they’re so tiny. He’s really healthy and active, but he’s already chosen his favourite corner in the tank. He slept wedged between the filter, moss and this plant with big leaves last night. Damn I’m so in love with this little fish and I just want to do right by him. He’s really small, like just a bit bigger than my thumb nail. He’s in a 20L (5 gal) planted tank that is currently between 25 and 26 °C the tank looks ginormous with him in it. I thought it was going to be too small. I think I’m doing everything correctly but if anyone has any suggestions, I’m all ears.
    Edit: the name of Russell’s current food is vibra bites baby. It was produced in Japan. The guy in the aquarium store said he feeds his betta these. It wasn’t a pet store like petco or petbarn, all the fish looked healthy and this guy owned the place and seemed to really know what he was saying.

    Just got my first betta a few days ago. So glad I came across your video in my search. I couldn't figure out if I was feeding my girl enough or not given that she doesn't really eat much in one sitting. I just upped to feeding her twice a day but still not sure if that's enough. I can see her swim bladder though and she is super tiny so from your suggestions, I should probably feed her a bit more in each sitting? She seems happy and healthy otherwise. Pretty much constantly swimming around in her tank and likes to scare me by playing dead lol I should also add that I started off with tiny pellets and she would try to eat it and spit it back out and drag the rest to the bottom of her tank so I switched to flakes and now she eats just fine.

    Hi, thanks for this, super helpful. I was searching for info because lots of the feeding advice is based on pellets and my fish food (Fluval Bug Bites) says it's micro granules. 2-3 of those look like hardly anything! But the fish shop said not to follow the advice on the side of the tub (feed for 2-3 mins, 2-3 times a day - that does sound like a lot), so now I don't know what is best. I tried weighing the granules as I read somewhere an adult betta should have in the region of 1.8g of food per day, but my scales were not accurate enough. Do you know what the equivalent amount is for micro granules vs pellets?

    • @Pharmaquatics
      @Pharmaquatics  3 года назад

      i would play it by ear with your specific betta. measuring your microgranules might bring you success to an extent, but often times they're so small the betta misses it

    I recently got a 6.5 gallon tank and am new to fish keeping, do you think I would be able to keep 3 endlers, 2 cherry shrimp, and a hill stream loach in a 6.5 gallon?

    • @Pharmaquatics
      @Pharmaquatics  3 года назад +2

      everything works except the hill stream loach imo. HSLs like to be in groups of at least 3-4 which would require a much bigger tank size

    Why is there a bunch of air bubbles in my betta fish tank and is that bad? I have a filter in the tank.
    Also, my beta tank came with a built in LED light underneath the tank lid. How long should I leave the LED light on for?

    Sir is it really good to soak floating betta pellets before feeding as it prevents bloating?
    Should i do this and for how much particular time

    • @Pharmaquatics
      @Pharmaquatics  2 года назад

      it’s not necessary but it is a practice done by others. logically it reduces risk of bloat because the food expands externally rather than in the stomach. soak until you visibly see pellet expansion

    My daughter just got a betta fish about a week ago. He is very eager to eat and interested but will not eat. He has gone up and grabbed one but spit it back out. We have tried bug bites, betta pellets, beta flakes, and freeze dried blood worms and he won't eat any of them. What should I do?

    • @Pharmaquatics

      some bettas are just more picky than others, as long as he's eating you're in good shape. if you want to reintroduce pellets, you can try a different pellet or feed pellets when you know he's very hungry

    • @j-art0221
      @j-art0221 Год назад

      It should be given to fishes as a treat due to very high protein content. I do feed my betta fishes mosquito larvae more often than pellets.

    I have been feeding my red male betta fish blood worms because he won't eat any other betta food. They are the Frozen Chunks. He loves them but always seems agressive and hungry. I feed him once or twice a day. The size of a grape nut or two grains of long rice.

    I got a moontail female beta for my grandmother last Christmas and when I moved out a few months ago the fish blew up in size and now appears to have dropsy, constipation, and is bloated. I took her home last night cleaned her tank got new pebbles (old ones were glass and broke a lot) I got her that SpongeBob house hideout and she already seems so much better. She is swimming around and from what my partner said (he used to breed goldfish) she seems to not be swimming at such an angle anymore. But I'm not entirely familiar with beta care. I had a beta before and had him for awhile due to my cousin abandoning him. He unfortunately passed and I'm unsure why. I plan on purchasing a heater cause I fear the water is too cold and I don't know how much to feed my Betta. Usually we fed her two times a day with a few small pellets/flakes.
    How do I efficiently care for my Beta and how to I get her happy and healthy again?
    (I purchased her due to her always dancing when I passed by. She always gets a happy tail dance when I talk and walk by her it makes me very happy and I am about to spend a ungodly amount of money on this fishy baby)

    Hi! Im new to betta fish. Have mine for 1 month now, he’s really active and loves to eat. Watching your video I can say that I’ve got the wrong advice about feeding my betta, and now I think his little bit thick. What do you recommend doing? The advice was to feed him in the morning than at night, with min 12h between. Okay that's fine, but amount of food was 4-5 pellets in AM and same at PM. Thank you!

    • @Pharmaquatics
      @Pharmaquatics  3 года назад

      i would cut it down to 1 feed/day of 4-5 or keep it 2 feeds/day but of 2-3

    • @pipipipica180
      @pipipipica180 3 года назад

      @@Pharmaquatics thank you! I would maybe keep 2 feeds per day, because he got use to it, but definetly 2-3 pellets.

    I love your channel! ❤
    One thing though... Not sure about the idea that long-finned bettas are actually less active, and need less food 🤔! I think it just looks that way because they are slower.
    However, whenever they do move, it's pretty heavy exercise because of how difficult it is to move all that weight around.
    Kinda like trying to swim wearing lots and lots of clothing, slowing you down and pulling you under.
    So I'd say that despite how nuch faster and more active short-finned bettas look compared to long-finned ones...
    Long-finned ones probably use and need just as much energy, and may in fact need even more fuel than the short-finned ones who don't use all that much energy when they race around the tank.

      @@Pharmaquaticsindeed 😂( ...Altough tbh I kinda suspect that almost every betta keeper feeds their bettas a bit too much,
      so feeding some of them a bit less is more likely a beneficial rather than a harmful choice 😅...)
