Thank you for uploading these trial videos. Competitive melee/project M looks extremely fun but intimidating for me to learn. By watching many of your vids, it has helped me a lot on getting better at the game competitively and i want to say again thank you.
If you make another video, please give the text more screen time. I've lost count of how many times I have to go back and pause the video because the text is gone so fast. Besides that, great video
Great vid. Explains things really well. The hard part is learning all this. Im still struggling with SHFFLing :( might take a while before i even get on to waveshining lol
N64 HaunteR I spent 10 minutes a day for shffling and wavedashing each then did about 5 - 10 depending on my mood trying to string the movement fundamentals just ducking about. I'd start on FD, and break down whatever your problem is and slowly build the motion of hitting those buttons in sequence.
You have a one frame window to get grounded double shine, not 5. You also don't cancel your jumpsquat with shine, you just shine on first airborne frame. Shine just makes it look like you land immediately.
+hakeembisiolu True, you can't input anything during the 5 frames that your jump lasts, but I'm referring to the time you have to move your finger. And yes, it doesnt exactly cancel your jump per se, I think the shine cancels the airborne animation into a landing animation in which you're still shining until you jump again.
The Melee.pe TV Doesn't cancel you airborne animation either. It just stops you really close to the floor. You actually have to fall for 2 frames before you can jump again or you would be using your midair jump.
Welp, I can see that using the 20xx frame by frame slow motion, I guess you're correct sir. Tbh tho, such technical information is not a big deal for a beginners video. However is important to clear up certain things so no wrong information is given to the public.
Truuu, I just don't wan't people trying to multishine and thinking they just aren't moving their hands fast enough. Falco's is so much more rhythmic than that (Fox is near top speed). I used to go to fast to hit shield with it. So i could do like 10 in between stocks but then couldn't double shine a shield lmao.
What songs used in video? I don't actually play Melee, I'm just here cuz I'm probably going to start casually playing SSF2 Beta (yes plz don't judge me) with falco.
So regarding what you said at 1:10, does that mean you want to hit the L-cancel on the latter frames on which it is possible rather than one of the early frames? I notice when i turn my timing for L-canceling from 7 frames down to 5 frames i barely ever hit the L-cancels, and the 2 frames which are cut off are the two earliest frames you can do it. Is this a bad thing? Should i be trying to L-cancel later?
I realize this is like 6 months late, but in general you want to l-cancel later rather than earlier, as hitting an opponent or shield delays your fall, meaning that earlier inputs have a lesser chance of connecting than later presses do.
Great Videos! Noticed at 1:02 it should be hitlag (and I guess shield hitlag for the shielder) causing the freeze moments that can mess up one's timing. Which jump buttons or Tap jump do you use personally use for Shine OOS and Multishining? Also I'm not sure if you mentioned it but I think depending on what side of the shine you hit with is what way they're sent, which some people like myself use to kind of not realize. Also at 7:42 I'm confused if the input is a 5 frame window or 1 frame smashboards.com/threads/multishine-an-extensive-guide-updated-8-13-10.214549/ Shield SDI smashboards.com/threads/do-you-use-shield-di.314831/#post-13729311
You should make a video of your hands doing Double-Shine and Shine OOS cus I only can do Double-Shines using B to Y and I've been trying to get my Shine OOS and Double lasers possibly better by using using Y. The other links were for hitlag vs hitstun. Also I'm not sure what the guy is implying but the "window" appears to be 1/60 of a second (1 frame), but the timing between when you reach that window is 5 frames like you're describing now. smashboards.com/threads/multishine-an-extensive-guide-updated-8-13-10.214549/page-4#post-16531204
I will, but no putting it in my channel now, I made a new one. I just feel like crap right now, I have a stomachache, and I was puking a while ago. Right now I feel a bit better but not in the mood to make more videos for now, sry :(
i've got a problem with waveshining. when i don't do it on a dummy i can do it pretty east but when i shine on a dummy i can't wavedash out of it as quickly. is this right or am i doing something wrong. i'm pretty sure i'm fast enough. help pls.
For this particular case I use the regular stick rather than the C-stick (yellow one). I find it much easier to be fast if I just HOLD down on the stick when doing the shine then press X then A (you can use Y if you prefer).
kadajoctavius That means you're moving your control stick too early. After moving it down for the shine, you first hit jump, then move the control stick back for the wavedash.
I don't understand the explanation you give on why you should always fastfall AFTER you hit your opponent. you give a exlpanation at 2:30 but I don't understand it can you try explaining it again?
+MrPsychonautQQ when shuffling yes, you certainly don't want to fast fall after hitting your opponent with a dair off stage. I dont know how can I make it any more clear than that lol. Honestly, you just have to try it yourself and practice it over and over again. I always tell people to fast fall right after hit so they can do it as quick as possible and dont mess up any L-cancels
i know you don't want to fast fall after dair off the stage already, but then you said you always tell people to fast fall right after the hit so theycan do it as quick as possible, but sometimes don't you want to start fast falling before you do the aerial attack, say on marth for example, so you can get to the ground fast enough to catch him with an up tilt?
Sure, depends on where he is also at what % and if he's sent over a platform. But as you become better at ff (fast falling) you can pretty much do it any time you want and as you gain experience in comboing different characters you'll be able to judge yourself when is the right time to do it.
I finished recording all the clips I need for the video, I'll edit as much as I can right now. I don't know for sure how much time it will take me to edit the whole video since I have well over 40 clips. The video will be uploaded this weekend probably, I'll do my best to upload it before that if I can.
***** yeah a few things, but I can't really tell how I can practice most of this. I can tell what combos, but I need something I should do a billion times in a row until I get it down
Years later this is still one of the best falco combo tutorial on RUclips
TY! But nowadays this would be true only if you're a complete begginner. Today I would recommend watching mango, bobbybigballz and ginger.

Wonderful guide. This is exactly what I was looking for as an introduction into professional play. Thankyou so much for your help!!!!!-Mike

i knoq this is all old and stuff but it isnt 1 frame that you have to move your thumb from x/y to B? thats literally 1/60th of a second haha
Thanks The Melee.pe TV now this Falco Combo Tricks make's This look just as good as mine Mario Combo Tricks.
damn, this is so great, even for more modern players
Ty. Watch hax's videos for more in-depth info about game mechanics. Also, mango, bbb and ginger have the most innovative combo ideas nowadays.
@@2476748152 sure!
this is a great video, those are some mango-like combos
what are the song names?

Anyone else noticed that pm Falco shine has much more knock back than melee Falco and percentage increases it so it's harder
What songs used in video? I don't actually play Melee, I'm just here cuz I'm probably going to start casually playing SSF2 Beta (yes plz don't judge me) with falco.
Time to go into the lab. Thanks.
Vid 4 plz D:

Do it!
***** You never made it
I will, but no putting it in my channel now, I made a new one. I just feel like crap right now, I have a stomachache, and I was puking a while ago. Right now I feel a bit better but not in the mood to make more videos for now, sry :(
For shine out of shield what buttons do you use? (tap jump, x or y) I use y but I am not fast enough and want to know which one is easier.
I just jump with X and then press Down B for the shine. It's the slowest method but I jump with X so I just try to do it fast
Just practice whichever way you feel most comfortable with, there's no easy way out. I personally use X to jump for everything.
i've got a problem with waveshining. when i don't do it on a dummy i can do it pretty east but when i shine on a dummy i can't wavedash out of it as quickly. is this right or am i doing something wrong. i'm pretty sure i'm fast enough. help pls.
you aren't taking hitlag into consideration you should try do delay your jump a bit
+Dylan Haji yeah, you're a bit late now
im having trouble spiking off shine jump dair it is really fast anyeone know how i can jump faster i usually press x/y but it is just to slow
For this particular case I use the regular stick rather than the C-stick (yellow one). I find it much easier to be fast if I just HOLD down on the stick when doing the shine then press X then A (you can use Y if you prefer).
Tap jump
How can you waveshine back? I keep turning around in my shine, then getting stuck in it
kadajoctavius That means you're moving your control stick too early. After moving it down for the shine, you first hit jump, then move the control stick back for the wavedash.
kadajoctavius Also it helps for me to return the control stick to neutral in between the shine and the wavedash.
MiniDaab Thank you! I can do it pretty consistently now

I'm having trouble shfflc across The map also waveshining
should I be concerned if I can press y and down b so fast that i can multishine without leaving the ground?
lol. thats the way to do it.
The Melee.pe TV i thought it was shine wavedash in place over and over lol.
who told you that? surely a noob.
The Melee.pe TV i just thought thats how you do it
jos tiband I'm retarded because I was really new to competitive Melee? Look man, you were new to competitive Melee too. Have some mercy.
it is very hard to read what its saying in the video...
+Trev x Use the pause button.

isn't this more like a guide than a trials video?
***** yeah a few things, but I can't really tell how I can practice most of this. I can tell what combos, but I need something I should do a billion times in a row until I get it down
waaw this game is defenetely so hard to master... o_O
