Watching this superb footage brings back so many memories for me. Born in Liverpool in 1947 I travelled on the 6/6A many times from the Court Hey stop to the Pier Head. 1d 'Scholars Return' and seeing the last tram on its final reurn journey from Bowering Park is still so vivid in my memory after all these years. Thank you to Alf, the film maker and also for the excellent descriptive narration.

Just breathtakingly good. The biggest respect to all involved. Historically priceless footage with a sympathetic/informative commentary. Made my night. Thank you.

Baby Grand tram 245 still survives over the water in Birkenhead at the fantastic Wirral Transport Museum where it is back in operational condition running between the Museum premises in Taylor Street and the ferry terminal at Woodside.

The most amazing working workshop circa 1950 and the guys who run it just blow you away with their enthusiasm and commitment. I went there with my kids 12 years ago and they still talk about it.

I remember it sat next to the Green Godess in Edge Lane in the 70s

Can remember going on a Liverpool tram when I was 4. Refused to catch a bus from Central Station to Pier Head, insisted on waiting for a tram.

What lovely memories, I lived not far from the overhead rail I used it every week,
As we lived in Chatham Close.
It was a sad day that the line was closed 😪

Great bit of archive filming. I still think the former Liverpool Overhead Railway should have been kept open and subsequently modernised as it would have been an excellent tourist attraction in Liverpool nowadays what with the regeneration of the famous waterfront and docks in the city.

Amazing, they scrap it all only to find out when they want to put it back again, it's going to cost 100's of millions. Short sighted!

I totally agree with you. if Manchester, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Birmingham can have trams why not Liverpool?
