Replacing the singer of a band is a basically impossible job, as he is the heart and literal voice of the band. But they did a really good job with Jessie. It still feels and sounds like what I imagine Dream State to be and stays true to the spirit of the band.

I'm trying to get into this new version of Dream State, and I'm having a hard time. Everything they've put out so far just doesn't have the same feeling as Primrose Path, and while I know she's not CJ, the band just doesn't sound the same. I can tell they are still trying to sound like they did with CJ, but the way the songs are structured are just not as in depth. Go listen to "Are You Ready To Live?" That song has so much going on in it. I'm not giving up on Dream State, I'm just here for the ride and adjusting to the change. Good luck guys and I'm here for it.
CJ was vocally much more raw. jessie is great and all but she does not have that same rawness and power in her voice naturally it has to be made up for in the mix. this is also closer to metalcore than the post hardcore sound the previous lineup had.
I don't try to make comparisons with the former line-up. That would be unfair towards you guys. When I consider you as a new band, I'm definitely eager to hear more. This song has been stuck in my head for weeks now.
