Using the "=sum()" click inside the parenthesis, then left-click, and drag over all cells you want to sum up. Especially useful for when you want to compare 2 columns. Also using the "=IF()" function. The if is an if statement, which you can use like this: =IF(condition, condition is true, condition is false) =IF(A1 > A2, "A1 is bigger!", "A2 is bigger!")
I'm late to the comment party, but I love the feature of "freezing" rows and columns in a digital grade book. This feature allows you to continue viewing the assignment name or description while scrolling through students' names to provide a grade. Thanks for the video!
I watched as a refresher course and it was easy and simple. Great style showing us in layman's terms. I will subscribe to catch other videos to learn new things since you have a way to break the myth that it's harder than it really is. I hope you have many more I can find and watch!! Thank you for helping so many of us Mr. Cook! We need you!!
I love the tips!! I need more practice using google sheets so these tips. They were amazing and practical. I really enjoyed the típ on wrapping text. I can’t wait to try it out. Keep those videos coming!! 🙌🏼
Very helpful for those of us that use sheets on occasion. I will certainly use them more often! Could you give some tips on using google sheets for the Google Cert. Level 1 exam?
I can certainly work on that for an upcoming video! I'm hearing a lot of need for a comprehensive help course, so I think that may be my next step while providing tips and tricks here as well! Thank you for the AWESOME feedback! ♥️
I would have to say the chart style that is in map format. I used this in tandem with a Google Form to have people mark down their Country/State/City, and it was spooky accurate down to accepting different formats of data. Make that your next video!
Hi, I have a theoretical question: I have a column of numbers that I have subtotals for let's say every four numbers. What I did was to highlight every subtotal, now what I want to do is get a total for only the highlighted subtotal. Is this possible.
This might be a super basic question...I made a spreadsheet and I input the names manually. I tried to alphabetize it, but the data in the other columns didn't follow each name. How do I fix this?
@diana power shoot me an email gareth@mrcookscorner.com. Maybe we can hop on a quick Zoom or Meet during an off period this week. If not, I can at least send you a video reply.
With excel and sheets, your only option without merging is to change the width of the whole column. If you need help or want to chat more about it, shoot me an email: gareth@mrcookscorner.com
So, I have set up some answer sheets for my kids. Let's say I have one for balancing chemical equations. I use if/and commands in the spreadsheet to check to make sure the numbers entered into the spreadsheet are correct. I put the lines of code that check the kids' work on another sheet then I hide the sheet. Basically, I use 2 layers of obfuscation so that I could hopefully see the kid searching for answers before they find them. The answers are hidden in the if/and statements which will say "correct" or "incorrect" or they will change to 0 if the kid got it wrong or a point value if they got it correct. I set this on to cells in another sheet, then I set them to equal the location within the actual sheet where kids are answering the questions. I hide the sheet that contains both the cells with just the correct/incorrect notation as well as the sheet that has the actual code on it. So far I haven't had any kids who were versed in spreadsheets enough to just go and find the answers. Is there a way to password protect the hidden sheets so that the kids can't pull them up without having the password? I know I can make it so that they can't CHANGE anything unless they have a password (I think) but I want to hide the actual code with the answers. Is there a way to do this without writing ACTUAL computer code?
If you click on the little gear button in the bottom right side of the video, you can choose to slow the video down to as slow as a quarter speed. I have used that option myself many times when watching tutorials.

Can you edit a sheet when you don't have editing permissions? Is there a way? A hack

Your keyboard is satisfactorily clicky! What is your switch-type?
Hey Mr. Cook! If I am the owner of the spreadsheet, how do i delete all the comments for everyone at the sametime.?
Your best bet is: Select all your cells that have comments (or simply the entire sheet)
, then Edit (Alt+E), then Clear Note (Alt+L)
Generate QR Code for Websites!
