@ for the 2019 Ascent there was a recall on the CVT for a chain slip issue. I never thought it would effect me, but in the 5th year of ownership, sure enough, chain slip. Dealership replaced the CVT under warranty. It definitely wasn’t ideal but I had a dealer loaner during the replacement and none of it came out of my pocket. I’m pretty sure the issue hasn’t been pervasive in later model years but I know tons of people don’t like CVTs and won’t consider a car with them. For me it was a minor inconvenience and I still love my car. Would buy again, but maybe a year or two after introducing so they have time to work out the initial bugs.
I think the 2026 outback finally has a hybrid power train coming. They've been very stubborn at getting their hybrids out there. And a lot of the new 26 models look so much better.
I agree. Not sure why so many ppl say it is not attractive. They all pretty much look the same to me, but I would say Ascent is one of the more nice looking suv's.
I like it. Never drove the Highlander so can’t really say for sure. Still waiting on a hybrid (or full EV if that’s the plan) before I trade in my 2019 Ascent
I think it's better than the Highlander. I test drove both, went with the Ascent. Better ride, better price, you get the full suite of safety features standard, and a straight up objectively nicer cabin. Also, you will have a significantly easier time getting the car in the spec you want, especially since Toyota nickels and dimes you for a 360 camera, AWD, or larger screen package. (Good luck trying to find an AWD Green Highlander Limited with Harvest Beige interior and the 360 camera) My 2023 Ascent has been great after 25,000 miles so far, although I'm anal about maintenance. You won't be disappointed with either option, honestly. Someone could easily make the case for the Highlander's 8-speed automatic, Toyota reliability, etc.
Still digging my 2019 Ascent, but when Subie gets a hybrid (Wilderness Edition) I’m trading it in
@@benniewalker312 any concerns with the CVT? I’d love to buy a used Ascent, mainly for the safety and superior AWD, but the transmission scares me.

Subaru ascent looks good for a suv love the interior

I Agree The Subaru Ascent Is A Great SUV, I Never Have Been A Fan Of The Highlander
Check Long Term Quality Index and compare Subaru to Toyota.
The Ascent Onyx is a bargain!
Maybe for you
@@chrisb9478 if I could get an Onyx with 8 seats, I would have bought already. Captains chairs only in the 2nd row
Eh... I feel like I have to tie a sweater around my neck and take my laptop to starbucks if I buy a Subaru.
Don't forget the dog hair all over the vehicle lol
Sweater and Starbucks is for euro brand owners.
And berkies.
@@brians304 yes, gotta have the Briks!
Oh hell no! 😂
Subaru is my goto brand over any other brand
I don’t want to say this but those stretched logo thumbnails need to stop. They look ridiculously ugly.
I think the previous generation was better looking. My pathfinder was less expensive than this with a NA V6. 😂😂😂
50k say no more
Seems like all of the Subaru's are a little too utilitarian to me, even the top trim level. I will pass on Subaru.
Definitely won’t last as long as
100%
get better camera, out of focus many times
Errr is it better than a Highlander or not?
It is because slightly cheaper, better looks, bigger screen more features and good reliability

@ I guess I should buy one right away then.

@@panzer_TZsubies tend to have better safety scores.
Still doesn’t compare to the thick pillars on Volvos.
Subaru is trash. Only new car i ever bought, one and done, garbage.
