I liked the episode format here in that you took the time to analyze pros and cons from each store. Rating the customer service, business layout, quality of inventory is important for the hobby to listen to. Being heavily involved in the hobby the last 3 years I've noticed a huge variety in the quality of sellers and stores alike. The extra effort in organizing cards/store space and overall friendliness/professionalism of the seller/business owner makes a huge difference!
I agree with Ty’s assessment, great card shops all around! I frequent both The Albatross and Unopened Packman. Actually ran into Ty and his boys at The Albatross while they were buying the Mahomes. Told him I’m jealous he gets to do cards for a living. Love the content and can confirm Ty is as cool IRL as he is in his videos.
As the person who left the 1 star review @ Unopened Packman Cards, I'm glad you had a better experience than myself and others have had. However, I'd wager going alone, without a camera, accompanying child, and a different objective ( higher price point of cards ) you would have most likely left with a different impression. Also, you left out most of the context of my review from this video and then insinuated that the negative reviews are coming from people without experience or knowledge of the hobby which in that particular case is wholly inaccurate and should have been obvious from the review itself. Really cool to in someway feature in one of your videos though, unfortunate it had to be something negative. Keep up the great work for the hobby!!!
As a thought experiment and too see if anything has changed between the time of my visit and this video, I comped a box featured on the shelves in this video, 2021 Origins Football Hobby.... Their price? $750. That's $200 dollars higher than DA Card World. They are as low as $350 on Ebay and currently in stock at all the big distributors for $550 or less. I just do not know any other shops marking up hobby boxes that much. If you're going for low-end singles, retail, or TCG stuff, then they are honestly fine but when you get past a certain price point on boxes or singles you enter a different universe. My experience was comping a stack of Kelce cards that probably came out to around 2k that he had stickered probably for over 4k and when I tried to show him said comps, he took the cards off the counter, put them back in the showcase and said verbatim " Sounds like you should be shopping on eBay then." If there was ever such a thing as a covid era card shop, this is the one.
Also consider your one bad experience could also not be a fair representation for the overall experience. Not saying not accurate just may not be overall Likelihood that it’s the same everyone else experienced. That’s why reviews are averaged . Been to a restaurant one is tge greatest restaurant experience I’ve ever had and a second was mediocre at best
I won a free giveaway of 1988 Topps cards from Ty a couple months ago. It ended up being several boxes worth! It was definitely one of the coolest gifts I’ve ever received. I’ve been paying it forward giving boxes away to friends, family, and my favorite local card shop. Keep chasing!
Great video! I enjoy going into card shops and interacting with the employees and owners. It’s got to be a stressful business with card prices and demands changing nearly everyday, and I think it’s important to show appreciation for the service they’re providing to customers. There are 4 shops around me with very different approaches to inventory and selling, but I’ve made an effort to engage with the owners and the result has been some great deals and early access to new inventory. Each store has its own set of nuances, but once you crack the code the door opens up for unique opportunities to add to your collection.
Ty, I think this was a super relatable episode, with a great look at other shops. Not all of our chases end up in people's houses and garages lol. So seeing you in stores for an episode is pretty cool. Also loved the touch of doing a givy for the email list. Oh and thats Twilight Masquerade! Wonder if you ripped any of the Shrouded Fable. Cheers and keep on chasing.
Already signed up for the emails. These videos are cool too. Fun giveaway. I have a hard time with card shops, they’re usually overpriced on everything in the case. Card shows are better for pricing and deals.
Love the content idea of visiting shops- keep it coming. As we get into football season, maybe talk through some good off-season finds. I love vintage, so maybe solely a vintage episode.
Great content. Unopened Packman is my home store and I certainly hope you can make it back to meet Kyle. Great dude and super knowledgeable in the hobby.
A few weeks ago, I was watching Josh from KC Card Connection doing a live break at Albatross. Jake seemed like a cool guy. They were doing some good giveaways. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Been to the Baseball Card store a few times myself. In fact will be there later today or tomorrow. My buddy lives in Overland Park and I’m heading there in a bit to go to a card show tomorrow morning. I’ve never had a bad experience there. Great episode
I like the last store that just had the sign 'Baseball Cards' above the store front. Also, the last store looked like it had a lot of older wax boxes from the 80's and 90's. I wish the camera had panned around more and focused on stuff to show what boxes they had. Was this store selling this product by the box or pack? There'd be nothing like walking into a baseball card store and being able to buy 70's, 80's and 90's product by the pack.
Love these impromptu videos in the middle of regular episodes. Upload more man. lol. By the way nugget meal with chicken noodle soup in place of fries. Just not a fan of the waffle fries
YT is fine but wish I owned or had influence over a major cable/streaming network so I could purchase the rights to Chasing and grow your brand to the millions of viewers it deserves. How’s that for a review 👍❤️
In all about Zamir White as well. I recently picked up a RPA for $20. Excited about his potential. Raiders will probably need to run a lot this season and Zamir White is the starting RB.
I know this type of content is work intensive, but I love the LCS reviews. Come to DC. It's a an LCS desert here (and yes, I know Blowout has their store here)
Man, I remember mowing lawns all weekend to scrounge $50-75 a weekend as a kid to go buy packs and more packs. I paid $25 for a Marino rookie (which was a 5 year old card at the time) after weeks of hemming and hawing and my friends thought i was crazy. Fast forward to 2024 and kids are buying $30 cards that arent even a year or two old like it was bubble gum
I just found your show but I'm absolutely on love with it. I'm just getting back into the hobby after surviving a 25 year drug addiction. I'm starting to get back into the hobby because it reminds me of my dad and he died right at the end of covid. I've been clean now for almost 45 months. Own my own house out right, no mortgage which makes things nice. But I love being in the hobby of cards to replace my addiction. One for another they usually say lol. But I live watching your show. That was a sick Bobby Witt that you picked up
Love the free giveaways to email subscribers, but my honest opinion is if I wanted to see what sports card shops are charging for cards, I’d go to one myself. The reason I watch is to see you making all those huge deals, and the stories that go along with the sellers. Just my opinion, for what it’s worth.
Do you schedule ahead of time with the shops? It would be awesome to see you do this in Houston,TX. There are not a lot of shops for the 4th largest city in US, less than Kansas City definitely. But there are some great ones that don't get alot of recognition and some that have been around a long time and are horrible shops. Would be cool to see you surprise the shops for an assessment.
Thank you guys so much for putting out good, clean, and fun videos about collecting cards!

I loved this series. I love a in person assessment from someone that enjoys the hobby

To the one shop's defense, the last sold for $199 raw on that Dickerson.

Good disc golf in that area. Hit when driving across country. Oklahoma Joes BBQ shop even sold discs lol.
I enjoyed this video! Being from missouri, close to kansas city, you made me want to stop at some of these places!
You know a good name for a sports card shop? Chasing Cardboard! Yeah why don't y'all open a brick and mortar card shop? 🤷
Great entertainment.

Different but cool
Love to win one lol
You don't need to explain the sweat. Ichiro already told us what August in Kansas City is like.
Extremely jealous of the Card shops available in an area like that, not much to choose from in our area.
Good content.
I’ll take Zamor White card
I clear my CACHE on my phone all the time. Mainly in ylur apps.
Isn't Hollister MO a great vacation spot?
you got me I'm subscribed

Ty if you are ever driving through Wichita try stopping at Olivers Sports and Rock's Dugout.
