  • Here's a very welcome return to Heathrow. After entering storage in Madrid in November 2022, it was feared the #BA100 Airbus A319, G-EUPJ, in BEA retro livery, would never fly again. But yesterday the aircraft flew from Madrid to Heathrow, before operating a domestic Glasgow evening shuttle service last night; returning to Heathrow this morning, to then operate the first Euro flight, BA 528 to Lisbon - filmed here, departing on Runway 27 Right.
The BEA retro livery was one of 4 special liveried British Airways aircraft re-painted in February / March 2019 to mark the 100th anniversary of the formation of the first airline.
Sadly the remaining 3 retro liveried aircraft, all Boeing 747s, were withdrawn from service in June 2020 during the COVID pandemic, along with the entire BA 747 fleet. 2 of the 3 remain in preservation - G-BNLY in Landor livery, is at Dunsfold Aerodrome- (earmarked to be re-developed for housing - so a potentially uncertain future) and G-CIVB in Negus livery, which is open for viewing at Kemble Cotswold. Sadly the 3rd, G-BYGC in BOAC retro livery was scrapped at St Athan in August 2023. All of these aircraft (and indeed the entire BA 747 fleet) were extensively filmed by me and can be seen on this channel.
    Enjoy! Best wishes, Steve

Now this is a return that I have been waiting for a long time! I remember hearing about G-EUPJ retiring in 2022? And sure enough after 2 years it looked solid that she'll never operate for BA again, but I'm glad I still had the glimmer of hope that she'd return! Can't wait to catch her at Heathrow sooner or later!

It is good to see her back. I flew her to Madrid (as captain) from Heathrow gate 522 in November 2022. I took a picture of her at LHR, then another from the window while in the departure lounge at Madrid on a remote stand. The really thought that would be her last flight. I have since moved onto the A350 😊

A lot of the G-EUP series A319s have already been scrapped. Wish they’d chosen a new model to paint in this livery instead, 4 years ago; as you say like one of the NEOs…..
