Description
Star Wars: The Last Stand is a dynamic, gritty and somewhat over the top full CGI depiction of battle worn storm troopers facing off against an unknown enemy.
Stormtroopers are often portrayed as somewhat silly and incompetent, so I wanted to create a film to showcase troopers as skilled fighters, which is how I see them. Having the simple idea of showing Stormtroopers fighting, I knew the crux of the project would be to illustrate the battle in an interesting way. To do this I wanted to use dynamic camera angles, focusing on moments and scenes we don’t usually see in Star Wars films. I worked on this piece on and off for 3 years, mostly by myself.

The First Order Stormtroopers have lots of whites and a little bit of black color on their blaster. Watch carefully in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Just do a update patch then you have completed the task your video. Other then that great job on it. I love it.

I’ve always had an appreciation for the more gritty and trooper-oriented interpretation of Star Wars. Just watching clone troopers to storm troopers battling it out without special help from a Jedi or Sith.

the clone wars animated series is up there with my favorite things from start wars it just brings such humanity to the clones that were made for the singular purpose of winning the war the umbara arc everything with domino squad in it the stuff with slick(I forget the episode name hidden enemy maybe) and that’s just the episodes that I can name off the top of my head those are clone centric stories that focus on what it would mean to be a clone in the war
The clone wars did so much more right though everything relating to mandalore is amazing maul is able to shine as more than a silent villain that gets killed immediately and the show deals with surprisingly deep and dark subjects for a “kids show” the arc about the slavers(got no idea how to spell the name), the final Ashoka arc, the Morris arc, the umbara arc, and so many more

The Astartes of Star Wars?
It's pretty dang close. Astartes didn't use as much slow motion as this, but there are definitely some similarities and, as I stated before, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more installments!

What I don’t understand is since barriers and such cannot stop physical object passing through them shown in the battle of naboo where droids just walked through it. Why don’t they just use a normal bullet and Gun. Seems oddly effcient.
@@ironstrikerx Although it's unlikely the the US military is could create a prototype plasma blaster. It might be standard issue in the future. But there will be problems and issues with creating it, such as the expenses and the resources. It'd probably will cost A LOT. Like billions maybe, and it'd take a long time to make. I think that it's not worth making a plasma or laser blaster because it'd be very time consuming and it'd take lots of money and resources that we may not have (Us humans have been using up lots of it's resources recently, and by the time we come up with a design we'd probably run out of resources and options.) So if it were me I'd just cancel the whole plasma blaster project. We'll probably be sticking with bullets and explosives for now.

in there defense, stormtroopers were probably used for peacekeeping, not always as battle soldiers like clones

@@joeallen9104 Okay there is a joke about Storm troopers being bad shots yes but there is a HUGE difference in competence between them and these guys. I mean Dear god the heroes were killing dozens and dozens that they were nothing in the last move. Now compare that to the old movies were yes bad shots BUT the main character are running away from the horde of Storm troopers. I Just got out of the military (LRS Infantry) and i can see it plane as day. The effectiveness of these new guys is disgusting. They almost might as well be moving targets. And yes I definitely got a sense that Disney was trying to stress how "uncool" the new Order was (badguys).

Imagine if Finn was introduced after a scene like this, and we got to explore battlefield induced mental trauma. Instead we end up finding out he was a janitor that was somehow sent to the battlefield and then defected because for some reason the janitorial staff wasn't willing to murder a village of civilians.

It gave us characters like Rex, Fives, Echo, Jesse or Waxer and Boil. Everyone of them got personalities and humanity. They fought a war that they were not even sure of if it was right. They were basically just marionettes controlled by Palpatine. Dave Filoni did an amazing job!

Dimitri G I agree. I too see the story. The story of those fighting and those that were lost in a battle that likely ends with them losing in seconds, but a story none the less of a battalion that has fought together for quite some time.
Not everyone can project what put them in this situation or see them as individuals, due to either a lack of depth or imagination.
However, I felt this short clip did an excellent job of winning the audience over, to sit on the side of the storm troopers for once.

In the EU their helmets have a hud and various sensors, In the EU their armor is able to withstand some small arms fire, in this video, what cover? It's storm troopers, they were most likely ambushed while on a patrol. (I don't accept the canon/movies simplified world, even though that was Georges goal, to make a simple hero vs evil film, the star wars ip as grown beyond that)

Imagine if this was the beginning of The Force Awakens and the Stormtrooper at the end was Finn's introduction. He is actually shown fighting the opposing side (the Resistance), while defending and caring for his wounded comrades in battle. It shows the lengths of training he and the Stormtroopers went through since birth and their utter devotion to one another as soldiers. And he becomes conflicted on what side he should fight for, becoming disillusioned with the First Order but not wanting to abandon his soldiers.
But instead, JJ Abrams made it so he doesn't fight anyone in his first battle, has a tiny scene with a faceless Stormtrooper we never see or hear from, and immediately defects and leaving behind everyone he was ever known because "meh, First Order Nazis bad!" 11/10 storytelling right there JJ.
I BET if the Star Wars community came together we can fund a show like this...
I BET Disney will Cease'n'Desist it ASAP and will either want to take it over (hire the creators) and f*$k it up or bring it down to the faceless void.

In the first starwars movie it was speculated and even hinded bei lucas himselfe. That they want them to escape. So they shoot not accurate, because they want to know where the rebel base is. So they let them escape.

You are definitely not the only one, it’s a very popular concept but sadly will likely never be explored with Disney’s current take on the empire being essentially space nazis and anyone who works for them no matter the motive being portrayed as evil. Honestly it’s lazy writing and mainly driven by their lack of care and awareness of the franchise, as well as broad appeal outside of the starwars community.

One can only hope that Disney hires a director for their talent rather than demographic, and approves a script for its artistic merits rather than bland storyline embedded with topical issues like race and gender. @@skoulikiagamwtanekrasas there's also the part where rey (with no training mind you!) defeats a trained jedi killer, and luke after 2 movies of training still loses to Vader. you might go, "oh hurdudur it's vader" but if you look at how luke fights, he's clumsy and sloppy and is clearly not comfortable with a saber in his hand despite being the son of the literal chosen one.

Why tf can a cgi fan film make me more emotionally invested into stormtroopers in less than 2 minutes than three movies WHICH HAVE A TROOPER CHANGE SIDES
We need a movie or show about stormtroopers, kind of like the rise and fall of Domino Squad in the clone wars tv show. Like how they feel about their actions, and their guilt and remorse, but how they serve the empire anyway because that is the only home they know. Finn in the sequels started out as a stormtrooper and we got a glimpse of what it feels like, but t only lasted for like 5 minutes and then he joined the good side. For once, we don’t need a hero story, we need a story about the villains and the ground fighters, not about sith vs Jedi, but about soldier vs. soldier, human vs. human
They totally wasted the opportunity to show how Finn is morally torn apart between his hatred towards the First Order and his hesitation to kill the troopers, his former colleagues and friends, and victims of the system just like him. In fact, he doesn´t hesitate at all. He would make more sense as a pacifist character who doesn´t want to have anything to do with war than as a character who shoots his former fellows and shouts "woohoo!" enthusiastically.
disney won't probably do that, but they will probably make another movie about the rebels because they know kids will like it more if the movie is about the "good guys" (remember, kids=profit)
I do hope they make some movie/show about some squad or battalion destroying the rebels.

Long story short: Lucas Films and DE where both small companies for some time, they grown to get big and bought out by a higher up company and all of a sudden they start failing
DE was bought out by 2 different Companies, was a small team, then more people joined and somehow the game is doing worse (Warframe)

storm troopers are always pictured as sarcastic soldiers that are just cannon fodder , but this animation is 100% and I’m not Lying , 100% the accurate depiction of the actual first order storm troopers , the imperial stormtroopers were like this , and he made this animation to prove to you people that stormtroopers are the best fighters in the galaxy , they lost battles for other reasons , not because the stormtroopers or TIE fighters are bad , here is an example :
battle of Endor : Ewoks were more than stormtroopers there , a whole group of Ewoks barely defeated a stormtrooper with his squad , even the recon , less trained ( not sure about that ) managed to defeat rebel bases and Ewok tribes posing as a threat

The only reason stormtroopers were depicted as incompetent soldiers with lousy aim is because that's what the plot needed them to be. Then as the original trilogy kept that narrative of stormtroopers being cannon fodder, the idea just stuck with the public and no real media outlet has proven anyone otherwise. But stormtroopers were actually well-trained and had to go through grueling training, equivalent to United States Marines or even better, to even be in the Stormtrooper Corps. Stormtroopers were definitely not at the caliber of Clones, that's a whole different level, but they were definitely competent fighters that the movies really didn't do their justice.

Stormtroopers were said by Ben Kenobi and in comics to actually be elite fighters for the empire/first order, only reason they arent like that in movies is cus plot armor and they cant narratively win against the "heroes"

Like what exactly? Since I think they are like that... in Force Awakens first battle where Finn got his buddy's bloody hand print on his helmet, it basically looked the same way without special effect closeup shots of camera spinning around soldiers, which would've been pointless practically.

@@mlalbaitero well, plastic composite does not exist in starwars, but a more stronger material, something more closer to kevlar. Although the material changed when disney bought lucasfilm, it still cannot block most blaster fire. The very least it can do is decrease the lethality of a blaster, so you know, they don't die.

I have to ask though... Really? Like I was upset with The Rise of Skywalker and overall the Sequel trilogy is my least favorite of the three trilogies... but what is there in this video that Disney hasn't done? We had plenty of violence and intrigue in Rogue One, The Mandalorian and the final season of Clone Wars; and those all are Disney era Star Wars products. If anything this video reminded me a lot of the opening to The Force Awakens... where we see a group of Stormtroopers you know... destroy an entire village of innocent bystanders in a pretty dark massacre. Lest I remind you to, Disney is the same company that let Marvel films kill 50% of their cast in Infinity War. Are you saying all Star Wars all 100% needs to adopt a grim dark tone 100% of the time? I really can't wrap my head around that though, Star Wars has always been from its inception... a kids/family series. George really only went dark for a bit of Empire and Revenge of the Sith, the rest of the films were Ewoks, comedic droids and Jar Jar Binks. Yes we had dark stories in Legends like the Death Trooper book and KOTOR II, but that was always ancillary media. The same era that gave us Death Troopers also gave us Kinect Star Wars. Just because Star Wars can have bits of grim-dark doesn't mean I think the entire franchise should become 100% grim dark, and honestly I find Disney sticking to a family friendly tone is more honest to George's vision than if they were to make R-Rated violence fests with Star Wars.
