These guys have saved me thousands of dollars. Car is 1/10 but this channel is 10/10
Love how-to repair videos guys - so helpful for the local DIY driver. Thanks for sharing!
You guys have an amazing channel. This video helped a lot. Thank you!
Love all your videos. It's great to see real world vs. what the manuals state. Whoever worked on the manifold last on my new purchase broke two studs, didn't replace them and didn't tighten any of the nuts on the rest of the unbroken studs so, go figure, I have an exhaust manifold leak that needs to be fixed. Unlike you, I was able to remove the heat shield without removing the O2 sensor or removing anything other than the bolts for the shield after pulling the oil dipstick. Maybe the last guy bent the AC tubing out of the way a little. (He also didn't put in the two M6 bolts securing the lower heat shield which was causing a terrible rattle every so often around 2000 RPMs.)
The Cruze is such a pile of junk.
Do you think it is possible to replace the oil cooler pipe gasket at the thermostat housing without removing the catalytic converter? I know I can reach the bolts but can't tell if it would be possibly to swap out the gasket with limited movement. Seems like it might be easier to remove the thermostat housing as well. Would like to avoid the options around AC draining as shown.
Thank you for your videos I'm using this one for a 2008 Saturn Astra and I have not found a ton of specific information on the car The engine I usually find in Chevy Cruze videos but most of the astro stuff is either the opal or voxel which is pretty much the same cars but I've come across differences that I've had to figure out on my own but your videos are always very detailed and pretty easy to follow
Awesome I’m doing this job on a 2014 Chevy sonic 1.8 L
Hello, Thanks for the video. Question, does the chevy cruze 2012 1.8L also have this oil cooler peace?
Dude you have saved me thousands and prolly will continue to. Bouta have my Chevy sonic running forever lol
My chevy cruze oil light comes on when I am under 3000 rpm, I had an issue with my Oil Filter breaking apart due to it being old, I wonder if it is debris causing that, and I need to change that part too
Thanks for all your great videos.
I’m wondering if a oil leak sealant works for a Chevy Cruze with VVT system.
Can this be done without removing radiator and everything?
oil cooler behind the exhaust manifold... engineering award for opel/ vauxhall
Did you have to drain the engine oil before removing the oil cooler? Thanks.
Technically no but less mess in the end
I'm about to do this in a week..I really really appreciate your video and help!! Amazing video!!
Can this component cause a antifreeze leak behind the exhaust manifold? Is there any other components that could leak antifreeze onto the catalytic converter?
You need to replace the O-ring gasket as well. Just experienced this exact problem. Old one isn’t molded to the new part so it’s smaller and will allow leaks to go through
I just got done changing this and the engine bay is smoking, ran it for a while and test drove then coolant emblem showed up shut it off immediately and let it cool off. After 2 hours turned it on again and idled for a long time and started smoking again but no coolant emblem. But shut it off just incase. I definitely used brake clean to clean surfaces but should I be worried?
Will it leak into the manifold if it’s that gasket
Do you guys have the Torx specs for the bolts?
I could use some help with this if you can. I ordered the gasket kit and I pulled off the cooling housing and all the hoses you showed in the video replaced all of those gaskets and I still have six remaining. One of the remaining gaskets I know is the water pump but the other five are a mystery. There are two round o rings one one flat o-ring, one square o-ring and an oval one with flat sides that's quite large. I'm sure if I go out and mess around with it enough I can find out where they go but any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated
How long does this take, my mechanic told me an hour
Hi, I'm about to do the same job on my Holden Barina, has the same engine.
Did you have to replace anything other then the oil cooler? Such as hoses and thermostat housing, etc? My local mechanic told me these will need to be replaced but I think he is just trying to make more money from the job... Other mechanics told me it's not necessary...
Please advise!
Depends on how old your car is because sometimes when removing those brittle plastic hoses they can break easily from all the heat under the hood. So yes it is possible that during removal some of the other hoses may break and some of the plastic housing may Crack or break upon removal, doesn't matter how careful you are, they can break.
I used too much muriatic acid in my engine to clean what I thoght the problem was the radiator. After doing so I have oil in my coolant. Do you think the muriatic acid also took out the head gasket possibly? Please help thank you
Is it possible for the coolant to mix with the oil through the oil cooler? Mine mixes water with the coolant but does not overheat
i got the same question? you fix your the problem was the oil cooler or head gasket?
@@TheMemo1776 new oil cooler didn’t fix it, I believe the head gasket was the culprit
can you not take out AC component? I always fear to touch the AC parts.
the oil cooler its self is two halves and comes apart, there are also seals in there, thats where mine is leaking, mine has a small leak where oil is getting into the coolant.
I have coolant leaking from where the oil cooler pipe goes into the water pump, but I'm also getting engine oil in my coolant container. Is there a bigger issue going on with my car, or is it just replacing the gaskets
replace the gaskets along with the orings and should solve this problem
Hi, great videos. How do i remove oil from the system after replacing the oil cooler
Hi mate, brilliant videos mate never know anyone to explain it that well, just a question is the orlando model the same . Cheers mate
You are gentlemen and scholars. Thanks for the video.
Can it leaking cause a loss of power to the engine?
how much the body shop usually charges to change oil cooler in the US? not including the part, only labour.anyone knows?
Body shop? Dunno. Dealership wants $850 labor, on top of charging double the price ($400 vs. $200 on Amazon) for the part itself. Near Cleveland, OH
I was told that I need oil cooler but I'm leaking antifreeze and not oil. Replaced water pump, thermostat but car is still overheating and leaking. I'm tired of people guessing cause I don't have money like that. What could it be? Please help🙏🙏🙏🙏
I've got one place says this is 4 hours to replace the oil cooler, and another says it's 2.5 hours but it doesn't look like that in this video, it looks like it'll be more like 1 person 1.5 hour! What do you think?
Tristan Wibberley just cause it gets done in a shorter time doesn’t mean you don’t pay for the shorter labor time. It’s a 3.7 hour job according to all data/Mitchell labor times manual.
Regular 6 point socket worked in place of the reverse torx sockets
Could a bad oil cooler cause coolant to get in my oil in my cruze?
If oil in coolant resivor and no milky oil mix with coolant its the oil cooler
Did you have to torque anything down
Thank you GGG
I have 2015 cruze now coolant leaks same area..so i have to replace this item?
Ashan Samanpriya same here and I was also wondering the same thing?
Did u guys replace it ? Even I am facing the same problem
@@yathinramesh1296 yes I replace now good....don't buy genuine one because same problem coming soon...buy ebay.
@@Mr811251 oh ok i will do that thank you
Good video 👍🏼
THANK YOU!!!
Love you all 💛🎉
great
Very good video thanks!
I have a 2016 Chevy Cruze
Pretty sure you don’t have to remove the front clip to get to one of the smallest parts on the vehicle.
if you own a cruze or cptiva or any of the chev gm cars with these poorly designed engines , sell it if you can ,
Wtf?! Have to go tru the whole pile of jungle jus to get to the oil filter housing!! N I tot my mitsubishi colt is ridiculous have to open the radiator tank jus to change the oil filter
@10:09: fuck that, tips shield off, cuts hands, swears, fixed
Having the same fucking issue oil leaking right on the exhaust manifold
It is a pity you don't do the oil cooler change on the 2 liter turbo diesel. There are two bolts at the top that are impossible to get out because of the inlet manifold. Designed by an idiot I am sure
Thank you
