- Trigeminal Neuralgia is a type of facial pain, characterised by short intervals of electric shock like pain in the distribution of the facial nerve.
Trigeminal neuralgia may often be mistaken for dental issues or psychiatric problems.
The cause of the facial pain is usually a blood vessel causing compression on the trigeminal nerve on the right or left side of the face leading to irritability and facial pain.
