Best video of the lasernut on youtube, literally every portion is pertinent and informative. And the transparent nature with time stamps in the first 30 sec is refreshing to see
I've got to go back to the hobby shop! I uncovered a retail priced losi baja rey MINT 400 EDITION so I had to have it. Unboxed it and realized it is far too nice to go thrash! Definitely going back for that lasernut!
Thanks for the video! Your review is right on point. Please make an update video in 20 packs. I would be surprised if there weren't diff issues. Maybe the early production models had the wrong clearances or inferior plastic cases. I blew the rear diff and and had excessive wear on the center rear and right rear outdrives. My solution was to replace the complete front and rear diff assemblies with the TEN SCTE 3.0 diff. After 20 plus packs of hard driving its doing well. Shout out to Losi support, they took care of everything very quickly. Lucky for me, when I snapped my axle, exactly like yours, they were in stock. I keep a spare handy 😃 . Thanks again!!!
I love my lasernut and have had the same issues as you have had. I purchased vitavon axle kit and have had zero issues with axles and haven't had any diff issues yet.
What a great review. You really covered all the flaws. Tires and rod ends are not such a big deal. Drive shafts is kind of a bummer. Overall it just seems like a fun car to drive and probably the best looking buggy out there.
I heard your voice and knew immediately that’s JAMES THE BIKE GUY. Bikes and rc cars. My favorite hobbies !! Do you still have the lasernut ? Long term satisfaction?
I've gone through 4 front axles already 🙄 going to swap to the tekno shafts next, other than that nothing too major with issues. This is one of those cars that you should not just trust losi that everything is tip top, found out some stuff was loose and I just lost a screw to the coupler to the front diff/center drive. The tires are so amazing but the rims warp so easily it's stupid. They really should have put an aluminum insert there like you said as well as a protectant over the led bar. Overall I'm still stoked on it, still working to make it better and better, but also I've spent probably $300 on spare/upgrade parts so keep that in mind. Great review btw! 👏
@Vape N Clash omg since I first commented this I've probably spent another $500 lmao so I'm right there with you. The worst of it is I've spent soooo much more time wrenching on the car than driving it, it's so stupid 😬.
@@JrsGasolineAlley sorry, somehow just saw this but they're the m6 axles but honestly I wouldn't bother with them. The outdrives are "lightened" and snap super easily, my first set lasted like 3 runs. I would go vitavon and drop the bread if you actually want the problem fixed, otherwise you're gonna have to either buy stock axles or break the diff down everytime you snap the outdrive on the teknos.
Wait so avc only works with a smart battery? My 22s sct always pulls to the right. I think I just need to rebind on level surface. Or maybe it's because I use a random 3C battery not a spektrum smart battery
@@JrsGasolineAlley gotchya ya I went out and messed around with the knob and theres definitely a noticeable change and binding on flat & level surface is the ticket lol
What are the black wheels you are running? Been thru a whole set of wheels already. Tried running proline 2.8 bandlands but handles like garbage with those. Would like to know what the black wheel setup is toward the end of the video.
More power (4s), more versitle, handles better. Baja Rey is more scale looking, solid axle trucks are fun, only 3s. Personally I also have a Super Baja Rey 2.0 and it is a treat at times, but desert trucks have limited useage IMO.
@@JrsGasolineAlley really digging this laser-nut and its 349 right now but im to old to be fixing stuff all day, bad enough the srx8 is hard to find parts for . And all the hobby shops around here predominantly carry all traxxas stuff
After 25 days of basically nothing but gravel burnouts sliding around on hard surfaces extreme fast running on grass. My second Losi Now has loud grinding noise coming from unit with severe loss of power. I'm sure differential is gone. Not sure which one, I am now buying my third Laser Nut. First one still runs but after fixing broken shock mount it has leaking front differential, with bent driveshaft. also developed a high pitch wine from front end believe it is dry differential. I'm not gonna buy any more three is enough. 😏.
Pity. I absolutely love the scale looks and details of the Losi vehicles. But it's a real shame that they let such small under engineering issues ruin an otherwise great truck. I'm not a basher and my style is more in line with what this truck was intended and designed to do. And yet, inevitably shit happens and we hit things. And axles snapping, diffs stripping, etc... Just unacceptable to me. So, as much as I hate to say it, I gotta admit that even though they really don't suit my likes, perhaps an Arrma might prove more reliable for the average user that's looking for just an all around good, and durable play vehicle... Come on Losi! Fix these little $2 items and give us a great looking AND reliable truck...
noted so gona use it at the dirt track we have for rc ad not try doing backflip XD actualy XD car will be destroyed if you do back flip XD soo or late an i beet soon XD

Right on!

I have sold it already to move onto the next one, but I must have had 2-3dozen packs through it.
@@JrsGasolineAlley Cool, great way to free up cash for the next run of videos!
great review! greetings from spain
Awesome, thank you!
I just bought one from a guy he was going to sell at the hobby shop. Got it for 375 still somewhat new
Awesome!

Glad those are working out for you. The Vitavon axle kit looks awesome, just a shame you gotta spend $200 to make it reliable.

Thanks

Agreed
Hi, great video. I have a quick question, are the skid plates the following number? RPM73182?
Yes they are

The lasernut is good but it's not a basher
Nor is it considered by Losi to be a basher
Nice Review, How much runtime you get with 4s 5000 mah battery?
Depends on how hard driving but 15-20min hard, 40min trail usage

Sad it has a center diff problem
