Its' great to see the shop with an online presence, BC shaver has been a fixture it Vic for so long! Good idea for a shootout, thanks for the effort of putting this video together. I have the DB Pro (very similar to the lazernut) and am really impressed with the handling and durability.
Thanks! I definitely agree with that choice - the Ryft is very capable on the rocks, but it's just too fast for its own good. The Lasernut is a much better all-around vehicle out of the box.
Great video on both vehicles. The best way I've found to limit the twisting under hard acceleration on the Ryft is to put another set of shockies in the rear. The bolt holes are already there so it's a symbol installation
You should do another comparison after upgrades, maybe give the ryft a sway bar and do something tasteful to the losi and put them both on 4s and do it again in the gravel
If you run the Lasernut on 3s you're supposed to switch the pinion to the 14t included with it. 12t pinion comes installed from the factory. Makes a big difference.
I heard they have problems with difs and driveshafts. Have u had any issues? How long have u owned it and do u run it hard? Im thinking of getting a lasernut just wanting sum advice. Im looking for something that can take a little abuse. Thanks
The Rock Rey isn't quite a baby. It's the best of both worlds packed into one. It's a shame it's been discontinued because after having bought my brother one a few years ago, and seeing what it's capable of and durability, I decided to get one, but too late. Can't even find a unboxed one anywhere.
Mine is really top heavy and wants to flip if turning even at lower speeds. The “550” size motor seems really skinny and long but maybe it’s just the size of the thing that makes it seem that way. The body is cool but I wish it would lock up. Maybe it does and I just haven’t figured it out yet. My option for what it’s worth. I love the light bars because after work when I usually get time to break it out it’s dark so that’s cool.
Great video! I think the comparison is a bit strange, being so different rigs, rock bouncer vs racer. Bouncers should never be near a flat surface. They jump like a mountain goat.
The breaks are incredibly easy to adjust. From factory it has 25% power, one level up you get 50% which is already way more then needed. I actually wish this thing had a 35%-40% ration. In any case, reviewer, do a propper job and RTFM next time, it's on page 3.
@@grantmckendry3323 You also missed "ration" should have been ratio. Do a better job grammar nazi-ing next time, while I work on the 3rd language I can speak, english.
So I bought an Axial Bomber 2.0 last summer but just started driving it couple months ago after slowly upgrading parts on it(Incision links, aluminum rear trailing arms, additional piggyback rear shocks, Currie sway bar and a cool aluminum bead lock wheels) After all that I thing I'm very disappointed in it, it looks cool though but not fast. I think I have to upgrade to brushless for it. I can take it crawling along with my TRX-4 Defender in my channel here but it won't keep up with my Arrma Senton. So my question is...should I keep the Bomber and spend more upgrading it or sell it and get the Lasernut. I like the buggy style and independent suspensions, the Ryft doesn't appeal to me that much it's what the Bomber should have been. Thanks let me know what you think.
If you're planning on driving it fast, I would get the Lasernut. I haven't driven a brushless Bomber, but it seems to me like it would drive a lot like the Ryft, since it has live-axle suspension and a relatively high center of gravity. There isn't really any good way to make a live-axle vehicle handle well at speed - that's what independent suspension is for. The Lasernut has a lower center of gravity (and sway bars), is a breeze to drive at high speed, and still has enough articulation to keep up with most crawlers. The braking issue can be fixed by changing the ESC settings. (According to the manual, it's only set to 25% from the factory.) It's up to you, of course, but it sounds like the Lasernut is closer to what you want than a further upgraded Bomber. Just my 2 cents. :)
@@bchobbies Thanks that helps a lot, good advice from a fellow Vancouver Islander like you(I'm from Nanaimo)...tonight I'm listing my Axial Bomber for sale, looking it it looks cool with my upgrades but I like my TRX-4 for crawling and my Summit is great at crawling too sometimes better than my Defender. Once the Bomber is sold I'll buy the Lasernut and drive with my Senton. Thanks again.
Sweet video can you make one for the losi tenacity tt pro 4wd sct brushless rtr with smart. The falken one lol im between the tenacity and the lasernut they're bolth so cool but i can't decide
Both the TT Pro and the Lasernut are based on the same platform, and use most of the same internal parts. Driving performance between them should be very similar. Which one you get will mostly depend on whether you prefer the look of a short course truck or an open-wheel buggy.
Lol old comment but they drive so so different. The TT is a racer, is very planted great on a track. The Lasernut sits higher and will traction roll and doesn't handle as well as the TT coz it's made for a different application.
In a way, they are, but there's definitely some overlap. I'd say they're more like two different approaches to the same end goal, a vehicle that's fast but can also crawl. The Lasernut definitely leans more towards the speed end of that spectrum, though, while the Ryft is more optimized for crawling.
The main reason selling point for me was the DX3 controller which for some stupid reason they make you buy the Bluetooth module which goes into the controller. How dumb is that. Just charge the extra 20 bucks and put it in there guys come on!!
I feel this isn't very accurate as I have seen and rode in the 1-1 lazernut and went to a bouncer race the rift is supposed to go up steep hills with a lot of speed while the lazernut is built to crawl and go fast on the more flat areas if you want to see this stuff in person the lazernut races at the king of the hammers it is a big event with many races and is a good deal of fun
I'm guessing the R/C Lasernut differs a bit from the real thing because it's based on Losi's existing Tenacity buggy platform. It wouldn't surprise me if it's better at going fast on the rocks (and worse at low-speed crawling) than its full-size counterpart.
Really want to like the Ryft but can't. Too many flaws and if to spend thousand dollars to make it run right is the stupidest project I could think of.
I can tell you from personal ownership of a Losi Lazernut no way you got near an hour on a 3s lipo...... Now that said on 4s you will get near an hour the way your running it 😂
That's how long it lasted for us, but to be fair, a lot of that time was spent crawling around on the rocks at relatively low speed. If you're bashing it at higher speeds, it won't last as long.
Hmm.. That Ryft must be from a later batch, since nothing seems to have broken, while other people broke the front axle on the slightest provocation.. And the omission of a swaybar makes the Ryft absolutely terrible at anything resembling speed. Booh, Axial! With a rear sway It becomes quite a bit more controllable. Also lowering the stance by placing ca. 1.5cm springs or tubing under the pistons helps immensely ,and doesn't really influence its exellent climbing ability.
I hadn't heard about the front axle problem, but we had no issues with this one. I was actually quite impressed - there were a couple of impacts that I expected to break something, but it all held together fine.
@@bchobbies it's been a huge letdown the ryft. it's happening to almost everyone the front axle housing is weak and breaking and a few other things that I know for sure mine has been a waist of money so far just sitting broken with no parts available since release and I want the lasernut but unfortunately at this point it looks like that has even more problems some say the worst RC they have ever bought but I can't say from experience just what others are saying about the lasernut sorry to be so negative but I want them to be great just not what I've found

In the lasernut manual it shows you how to turn the brakes up to 100😊
This is a well put together video. Good job. Wouldn't mind seeing a similar format comparing the Lasernut and the Rustler Ulimate or VXL. 👍
You can adjust the brake rate on the esc programming.
Yep, I checked the manual after filming. The brake rate is set at only 25% out of the box.

I don't believe so. That would definitely help a lot.

Nope, both vehicles are box stock.
How fast is it on 3s?
We didn't clock the speed, but most 4S vehicles reach around 35 to 40 MPH on 3S.
