I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to stay at a value resort again after this series. The GF looks so elegant and relaxing, which is absolutely what you want after spending all day in a park. Also, has anyone noticed that the single beds are getting more aggressive with Chris each time he tries to unleash them 😂?!?
Hi Chris the reason why they have that lighthouse at the Grand Floridian is because there was a boy who was on vacation and he was killed by a alligator. They put that lighthouse in his honor
I was there the week before the tragedy. I stepped into the water when my husband pointed out the tiny sign asking patrons to stay out of the water. *sad*.
My family and I were there that same time. We were at the contemporary with our five-year-old son, who was the same age as that poor boy. It was very eerie around there for the next couple of days. Still makes me sad.
My hometown is Coronado, California and there is a famous and historic hotel called The Hotel Del Coronado. Us locals call it the Hotel Del or the Del. The Grand Floridian was actually inspired by The Hotel Del Coronado. So while I watched this video it felt like I was at home!
Somewhere. It was filmed at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in Michigan. The Grand Floridian is partially based on that hotel as well as the Hotel del Coranado in San Diego and others. You should take Amanda and Miles to Mackinac Island sometime if you haven’t been there. No cars are allowed on the Island. You can take horse drawn carriages, bicycles, or just walk to get around the island. It is really nice!
@@CraigGlassner Agreed. The Grand Hotel has that huge porch on the front of it and different color accents. But it does have that "elegant" look and feel to it that Chris mentioned in the video. I think the name "Grand Floridian" was probably inspired by the Mackinac Island hotel.
Just learned recently that those chandeliers in the lobby each have 44 lights there are two of them to equal 88 lights the year. The grand Floridian was built. It’s those little Disney touches.
Hi Chris, Fun fact Somewhere in Time was filmed on Mackinac Island in Michigan at The Grand. You can actually stay in the room they did and Jane Seymour still goes there for fans. And now you know. 😊
Your comments at the end are really appreciated. As someone that struggles with depression, those comments made my day. You are an amazing person yourself!
Hey Chris from Canada. My family did disneyland in feb 2023 and your videos helped alot. I wanna thank you. My wife has been battling some mental health issues and watching this video and last nights video where you got in a fight with the folding bed made my wife laugh so hard. I havent seen or heard that in a while and to see it again was amazing and ment the world to me. Thats all because you you. Thank you so much and keep up the good work
Grand Floridian fact: Princes Diana stayed there with prince William and Prince Harry when they went to magic kingdom in 1993. The lighthouse is to remember a young boy, very sad story. Swimming had been banned for many years prior, as a result of the tragedy the netting and rocks were installed in all resorts with lake access and additional signs warning of the dangers of the wildlife. This is one of four i still need to stay to finish my list.
Fun fact - The Beach Boys video for Kokomo was filmed at the Grand Flordian Beach and Pool. Also some crazy Hulk Hogan TV show was filmed around there too.
This is the longest series I've watched on YT. Mr. P, your videos are very fun, reminds me of the advertisement VHS tapes my parents would get, the tours are great so far. And you deserve respect when you film Disney realms, families should scurrying from your field of view, not the other way around lol I joke. I totally had the same thought about the random movie where Christopher Reeves went back in time. Victorian era would be a trip.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Somewhere in Time!!! I literally just watched it again, after years, last week! I was just thinking this resort looks so much like The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, where it was filmed. Your haircut looks great! Now time for the beard. LOL! By the way, I love your Dad jokes, they are the best.
Thanks Chris for your love and dedication to Disney! 😍🏰 You bring happiness to A LOT of people (starting with me!). I watch ALL your videos and I keep learning about Disney all the time because of you. I can't imagine how tired you could be right now, BUT please keep it up! Please give a Big Shout Out to my kids! 😍 Javier, Minee (pronounced Miney) and Priscilla! Love you guys!!! Chris, please don't tell my kids that I'm planning to take them to Disneyland for Oogie Boogie Bash 😉 Did I just said that out loud??? OMG! Thanks Chris!!!!!!
Chris, you are awesome, we have been watching you for the past few years, you inspired us so much, we decided to take the journey into making our own channel, and share the love and excitement and joy with others, you were our biggest inspiration when coming up with the idea. Your energy is always so high, your passion for what you do is always so apparent. We hope one day you could be sponsored by the Disney Company to do what you love! Thank you for all you do, and for being such an influential, fun to watch, and enjoyable person all around! When you turn the camera off, you are exactly the same person, and your authenticity is appreciated by us all!
I don’t know that I can find the words to describe the happiness and joy I feel watching your streams. You ooze glee from every pore in your body. Thank you. Shout out to everyone who loves you like I do!
Shout out! Every time you have a therapy session on the couch I cry laughing! Thank you for all the laughs and being the kindest corner on the internet!💕
Years ago, my cousin and I as a self high school graduation present, spent a week at WDW. One of the things we did was rent little one person boats. We went everywhere that were no "No entry" signs. Including finding the Electric Boat Parade floats. Our 1 hour rental turned into 3 hours. But the CM at the dock didn't charge us. "Have fun?" "Lots, went everywhere without a 'no entry' sign." He just grinned at us.
Your haircut looks awesome! Thank you for yet another super indepth tour, you always show stuff that a lot of others don't. Your Hyde bed demonstration has had me crying laughing the last few days 🤣 you've got this!
My family stayed there back when our kids were little. We went all out on that trip. Wife and daughter did tea with the princesses, wife did the spa, I took my son on the power boats out on the lake. We were there during Christmas holiday. The lobby was decorated so great. Loved the gingerbread house. The best resort. Club level is awesome!
Your review of the Floridian resort has put to rest all of my doubts about buying into DVC. We just finished a 4 night stay at the Riviera and it was fantastic. The Floridian is our home resort and can’t wait to get there next year making the plans now thanks Chris. 😎
We love Somewhere in Time! It’s a family favorite and the main female character is based off of one of our ancestors, Maude Adams. The GF definitely looks like that hotel!
I remember this one from Christmas I think. I remember the gingerbread houses. It is beautiful. My great grandmother was a society writer who traveled via ship and these kind of hotels. I always have wanted to travel for a living but I am landlocked. Thanks for sharing this because I can virtual travel. Michelle from Omaha.
This is the property I was looking forward to seeing the most. I've never stayed on property at Disney world and have only been there once in 2012. But, In the documentary about decorating the parks for Christmas. When whoopi visits the huge gingerbread house at the grand Floridian, I have added this to my bucket list!
Once again thanks for all your time showing us all these resorts. I don't think I could ever afford to stray at the Grand Floridian. And to be honest I have never even had the desire to stay there. But thanks for all the info. Today is my birthday and my son and his family took me out to dinner. One of the gifts I received was a shutterfly book my daughter in-law had made from our trip to Disney in February. This is something I will treasure forever.
Somewhere in Time - boy, that unlocked a core memory. Haven’t seen it in years, but I do get that vibe from the GF now that you mention it. Basin is such a fun shop - we often go to the one at Disney Springs, but I forget about the one here. Love your hideaway bed therapy sessions - too funny.
I love Somewhere in Time. Such a good movie. I agree that the Grand Floridian does look like the hotel in the movie. Thank you for the series. I have been enjoying it while I recover from surgery
Hello Chris.. I met you Yesterday at MK on the Tron ride Mandy from Oregon. My Daughter is the culinary CP.. it was so nice to meet you. It made my day.
I enjoyed your mention of the movie "Somewhere in Time" because it is one of my favorites. It is interesting that the Grand Floridian reminded you of the movie because in the novel that the movie is based on the main character goes to the Del Coronado Hotel in San Diego, CA...and the Grand Floridian is modeled after the Del. The actual movie, however, was filmed at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan.
