Taiwanese Minced Pork Rice (台湾卤肉饭)

- Minced pork rice is a Taiwanese style rice dish commonly seen throughout Taiwan. Minced pork marinated and boiled in soy sauce served on top of steamed rice. Yummy~

Note:
You can add corn starch to thicken the gravy.
Ingredients (For 2)
300g minced pork meat
5 shallot, chopped
1 tbsp minced garlic
5 tbsp dark soy sauce
2 tbsp sugar
2 dried mushroom, soaked and cut into slices
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp cooking wine
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1/2 tsp 5 spice powder
1 star anise
1 ginger slice
enough hot water to cover (200ml)

Did you stew it for 4 hrs?
The ingredients was perfect … one thing I did different was I just kept it in the wok and braised it for 20 minutes and added a bit of cornstarch in the end to thicken it … I know the finish texture won’t be as good as slow cook for 4 hours … but next time I’ll definitely give it a try… thks for a good recipe

Do you have a recipe for Danzai noodles? I went to Taiwan a few years ago and ate it but I can't find a recipe for it. We also ordered a rice dish which looks very similar to this, but it tastes like Danzai but with rice.

Hi, this is call slow cooker (crock pot). U can also use other cookwares to cook this, i will try using pressure pot when i free.

I don't have: dried mushroom, cooking wine, star anise & spice powder is it still ok?. . .
i like simple cooking, min requirements at least cooking wine (get rid of pork stinky smell) & 5 spice powder (enhance the flavoring).

Hi, thanks for watching. I got phobia of eating pork the whole week so normally i will cook enough for 2~3 persons. You can up-size the minced pork portion and adjust according. Take note, unlike other recipes, this recipe will produce a lot of oil.
If up size is it still 4 hrs of stewing time?

1 hour is enough..what a waste of gas if u cook it for 4 hours ..
It's using a slow cooker, an electric appliance with very low wattage, commonly used in Asian cooking for slow braising or herbal soup. If stove top you can probably do 1hr or until the meat is tender.

Mate why r u using simplified Chinese in your title if you are doing a Taiwanese dish?
Well, i cook all sorts of stuff, is sort of like standardization for all my video. Using traditional Chinese doesn't make this recipe become authentic Taiwanese dish. I doing for interests...unlike others...they are targeting at taiwan geographical.
Darshan Bhambhani my current roommate from college is from Taiwan. She speaks mainly chinese but from what Ive got it is of different dialect from chinese people.
Brianna S i think you missed the subtle jab at political correctness but it’s okay your intention is good. Taiwanese speak mandarin but use the traditional writing system. Mainland Chinese speak the same language but use the simplified writing system. The writing system is Chinese, but the simplified version mean just that, simplified, to make it easier. People who learn the traditional can also read the simplified version, but not vice versa. Op point out that as a Taiwanese dish the uploaded should have use the traditional system. The uploaded respond that he want as much people as possible to understand his video hence he use the simplified system.
