I love that you were like a nervous father at the first ultrasound. Shows how much you care. The slide in and out of the xray room 😂
🤣🤣can’t help it
GST, I do love that you do not miss any opportunity to educate. Not only on YT, but it's really fantastic to see vets and other staff learning how to microchip tortoises.
Thank you!!
That’s why I watch every episode he post I can’t get enough. Anything he says that can help me and my hatching I got from GST I’m down to see haha I’ve always been an animal planet kid tho even more so than cartoons growing up.
The photo I’m using is actually the hatchling I got from GST
Love that picture 😍@@DarthGengarus
Incredibly interesting 🤔
It always cracks me up when poop has to be interpreted on medical imaging, keeps the inner child alive 😂
Hahaha right?!
I love to see the partnership between you and the veterinary team--everyone sharing their area of expertise. These animals need excellent medical care just as much as any dog or cat. ❤
I had reservations on whether or not to watch this video because I don't want to witness something sad, but I am glad I watched. Wow, that is odd behavior. Thank you for the information, and I am glad they are all okay. Night-night, ladies
That’ll rarely happen on this channel without at least a positive ending. Thank you!
I love the peek at the X-rays. I have all of my animals microchipped. It helped me get my dog back when a neighbor who took him. Another great video❤
Awesome and thank you!
Those tortoises are so beautiful. Glad they've been chipped. Really interesting to see how it's done. My tortoise also has a chip in his back leg.
Thank you!
I keep and have kept sonoran desert tortoises here in az for over 30 years, along with many other species and types of reptiles. You are the only turtle and tortoise person that I agree with on everything ive seen you say and do. You have the best info. You and Brian Barczyk and Steve Irwin are the only people i myself would be excited to meet. Unfortunately, 2 have now passed but i do hope to meet you one day and talk turtle. Thanks for everything you do!!
I can’t begin to describe to you how much that means to me. Thank you and I hope to shake your hand some day.
That’s great hands on education for their staff❤Happy they are okay🐢🫶🏻🐢🫶🏻
Thanks!
It was so cool watching you teach them how to microchip! I love seeing knowledge being spread freely. Glad they're all doing well and hopefully they'll produce eggs in the spring!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your Libyan Tortoises are beautiful Thank You for sharing them ❤
Thank you watching!
I love when I stumble across Garden State Tortoise vids and watch them all. Then today I discovered im not subscribed. AM NOW. Will continue enjoying them even though now subscribed and alert buttoned they are going to be watched at silly o'clock across the pond in England.
Welcome aboard and thank you! We’ll be in Chelmsford to do a talk in May!
@GardenStateTortoise I shall keep my eyes open for ticket information and maybe pop up and see/hear your talk. I'm not a Tortoise guy but love your vids and am in general animal mad.
I found this video so interesting. Thanks for teaching us about tortoise's. They are beautiful animals.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love your dedication. Can't wait to see in the Spring if there are babies. Without people like you such precious unique species would vanish. Oh, and very educational to watch how you had them microchipped and xrayed!
Thank you so much 🙏🏻
I hope you were just so intense when you and Casey were waiting to see if you were expecting 😅. You do such an amazing job, even helping educate at the vets. Keep doing what you do ❤
Love, Karen xx
Beautiful creatures!
They are!
So glad you do that! ❤and I’m glad they’re healthy, they are so pretty 😍
I try! 👍🏻
@@GardenStateTortoise LUV ur channel 🐢🐢🤣🤣👍🏽👍🏽💯💯💯💯
That was an expensive visit!! I’m so glad everything looks ok. Another great video!!🐢❤️🐢
Thanks Lori!
This has become my absolute favorite YT channel-so glad I found y’all! I’ve become fascinated by turtles and tortoises and I hope one day to be able to have a turt or tort of my own.
Lots more research to do, but hopefully my climate (Houston, Texas) will make owning one possible. Cheers, and stay warm! 🐢❤
This is an important message, and you made it so clear. Adding my wish for fertile eggs in the spring and lots of lively cute babies.
Glad you think so thank you very much!
I just love the way they look. So beautiful ❤
Cool xray turtles 😊
Very educational thank you. I've been involved in parrots for a long time decades even. And nesting management can be difficult for us too. Although usually we're trying to discourage nesting at any time of year. Reducing light definitely helps with a lot of our birds. Just an early bedtime late to wake up and that usually does it most of the time.
Thanks for sharing that, always interesting to hear of similarities across the animal world.
@@GardenStateTortoise considering birds are dinosaurs close relatives of reptiles there is probably a lot we can learn from each other
Like watching a learning channel from days gone by.
Thank you.
Warm greetings from Canada

Beautiful tortoises! I'm glad they found their way to you at GST.
What beautiful tortoises. As always, thank you for what you do. I learn so much from you.!❤️
Thanks so much
Brian would be so proud of you guys!❤
Great video as always! Glad to see they are all okay and nothing crazy is going on with them. Keep up the fantastic work Chris and Casey!🐢
Thanks! Will do!
I had to give my turt a bunch of antibiotic shots when she got an eye infection and i never got over the needle squeamishness. Turns out the only thing worse than getting a shot is giving one lol
Haha I hear ya
If possible it would be cool to print out one of the x-rays of the turtles and have it framed
Love that idea
I have a trio of Libyans and I was thinking of doing just the same as you. I keep them indoors in winter. There are two females and a male, one of the females tries to mount the other female, just the same thing that happens to you, the same behavior
Great learning video; enjoyed it! Thank you!
Thank you! Cheers!
They’re so cute sitting in the tub.
☺️
Just very well fed😊
They look really healthy ❤
Many many thanks
Awesome video! Interesting to see the micro-chipping process and learn about the tortoises! Looking forward to seeing if anything happens in spring.
Kudos to you showing the clinic personally how to microchip. I'm definitely going to get Charlie microchipped.
🙏🏻
tortoise s have a soul
Everything in this video is so interesting and educational ❤ thanks a lot 🙏
Glad they are all healthy and hopefully they will produce eggs in the future!
🙌🏻
They super cute 😊
Thank you for your work!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for watching!
Great episode…hoping your plan works and you get babies from a spring mating.🖤🇨🇦
Thanks!
Absolutely great video, another fantastic educational piece from you and GST. Always great seeing you on my feed.
Great episode! Beautiful tortoises.

Very interesting. I'm rooting for the tortoises!
Thanks for giving us a look at the Libyans- they have so much potential, but it definitely has been tough watching everyone struggle with them! 🤞for 🥚
Thanks Tom!
They are so gorgeous...! And so hard to find. For reasons discussed. Never mind, am more than happy with my "common" captive-bred testudos ;-)
🙌🏻
As always learn so much ❤
Look at me in a turtle comment section saying what number i am. Gosh im doing a kit with my life 🎉🥳
O right theyre not.
Great work and video, awesome information!!!
Thank you!
I would recommend you scan the chip prior to implanting it to be sure it is functioning and then again after implanting.
Here I was expecting a case of spontaneous sequential hermaphroditism and you discovered a new bit of science for the species. Glad to know they're all ok.
Same here, thank you!
Can tortoises have parthenogenesis like some other reptile species?
Are tortoises affected by the Earth's magnetic field?
I've read that it's weakening and the north pole is moving faster than previously measured.
7:05 I love your tortoise cap. 🐢🧢🐢 Where did you get it ?
Arizonatortoisecompound.com 👍🏻
I've used that glue on myself to avoid getting stitches. Not used on myself to get chipped :p
Well in case you decide to get chipped, there ya go. 😉
Dear souls❤
My first thoughts were: Keeping them too warm and wet? Too much artificial light? It's on average 54° and their wet season in Libya right now. (I just googled it, of course)
Is it giving them false starts and agitating them territorially?
... off to watch the rest of the vid to see if this aligns.
Awesome video
Thanks!
Super cool and informative video. I learn something new every time. Thank you, Chris, for all your care and diligence in keeping these wonderful animals healthy and happy. 🤗
Thank you 😊

“She’s expecting!.. a massive dump”
I just love there little faces. Quick question how big should a box turtle indoor cage be im thinking about investing in a cool expensive one thanks
So interesting to learn. I have a 10 year old Holmes hinge back tortoise I recently adopted . She has also been acting strange ( from what I have read about them anyway) . She seems to want to brumate, but information says her species does not. I allow her to roam freely in the apartment durning the day, and recently she seems to be trying to hide in the coolest parts of the apartment. This worries me because I think it might be too cool for an African species. (65 ish degrees) .
After seeing this, I think maybe she knows better. im going to watch your video on how to hibernate tortoises .
I caught my horsefield tortoise enjoying some happy time with my slippers, even made little cooling noises, how to deprive him with my slippers naughty tortoise.
Oh no! 🤣
Last summer being that he is a sneaky little Russian horsefield tortoise, he tried to escape from the front garden compound by digging into the potato patch and disguising himself as a potato in the hope of escaping. His plans with thwarted when I put the sprinkler on and flushed him out. Returning the next morning making his way over the doorstep cakes in mud looking very pleased with himself. I waterboarded in on the draining board for information with no a due, I put him under the spotlight, but he would not crack, he just retreated into his shell and watched sky sports where he plans his next escape so that he could be reunited with pedigree poo chum and his mother Russia army.
*whispers* Go LGTs, go!
Wishing many fertile eggs in these gals future 🎉
Seems like one's wacky hormones set off the others. Hormones & Pheromones can cause some crazy stuff.
Awesome to see the Libyans! Chris, how would you incubate their eggs? I stumbled across your amazing guides on the Greek tortoise and saw how you incubate their eggs. Just wondering if you’ll do anything different for the Libyan eggs. Thank you for all that you do!
I would really appreciate a response!
How big should a tortoise be to microchip it?
4 inch shell length
🙏🐢🤞
❤️👍🏻🐢
Hey Chris, Where did you get the shirt from? I've seen the design in the past, but no one can tell me where to get a shirt.
Also, digging the ATC hat. I'm sure Andy is appreciative!
Do tortoises/ turtle have hormone cycles?
There is evidence of the dynamic cycling of peptides and steroid hormones within a reproductive season for turtles and tortoises. 👍🏻
@@GardenStateTortoise Fascinating
I’m not ok with notching or branding.. implants or metal tags is always the way to go 💯
Maybe these tortoises can go through a period of parthenogenesis with the lack of males in this large group of females. The weather could also play a key factor in triggering them to produce fertile eggs.
💜☮️
🐢❤️
didn't know about the glue, but I've already had an occasion where one of my tortoises had her chip come out (even after her being chipped over 3y ago by then) and we had to rechip her
Definitely works well
Why is there no sequel about Athena? Or did I miss it?
We did an update on her in this video, I believe: ruclips.net/video/1VOjvmKtegs/видео.htmlsi=ZT6Wgz-dkfcHyUmJ
Did you guys delete videos off your channel or did RUclips hide them? Can’t find any of the spotted turtle videos or blandings turtle video.
🐢🐢🐢
Do you microchip all your animals including the ones you sell?
Could tortoises have parthenogenic reproduction? I know that some lizards will do this and the ones who engage in faux mating behavior have a higher chance of reproducing. Just a thought..
4th ...
👍🏻
Don't show the whole number!
It’s good to show the whole number. Let it get out there. A microchip cannot be copied.
This time I'm second and I liked my own comment
🤣🤣🙌🏻

You should do a video where you show us how you make your outdoor enclosures. Like the ones for the Hermann tortoise.
Wait what, lesbian turtles 🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢😀😃😁😁🤣😅😀😃😁🤣😅
That’s what I said🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈
