- Speed and Strength SS1600 Helmet Review www.revzilla.co... The Speed and Strength SS1600 Helmet oozes with aggression due to its angular lines and pronounced profile!
The SS1600 Helmet offers a variety of features, including a removable Cool-Core moisture wicking liner, tool-less face shield removal and optional tinted face shields (for an additional cost).
It is anything but shy when it comes to telling you what's next. Whether it's a short ride across town or day ride out to carve the canyons, the SS1600 is equipped to get the job done, aggressively.
The way he starts every video cracks me up because you know he is tired of saying it and just zips through it..
awesome helmet still, i pre-ordered the full battle rattle already
I just want to thank you for allowing me to be given "the best girlfriend ever" title! Just bought this for my boyfriend for his birthday. The color scheme matches his bike perfectly! He won't stop talking about how he loves it! His main pros would be how light it is compared to his last helmet... and the crystal clear visor. He always gets the tented visor which makes it harder to see at night. So he loves that he has the option to bring his visor down when needed. He also loves the aggressive style. I just want to thank this awesome company for taking the time to make these videos. It is the main reason I went with this helmet since I do not know much about motorcycles or the gear! But this video solidified my choice. And I think I made the right one! I will definitely be back for more gear come Christmas!
Falavia Otis hey you deserve it its nice to see that there's women who care and support their man's passion ,truly you're a rare breed lol
Awww thank you for your kind comment :)
FINALY!!!! A round speed and strength helmet that looks good
The Duke dk160 is identical to this helmet and can be bought on ebay for 60 bucks shipped. There are also other brands using the exact same shell for much cheaper. This means we are getting dooped by some graphics. Cmon RevZ you should know better. This is a $129 helmet max.
You know this video is 4 years old, right? Meaning, don't you think that company or others will copy their molds or whatever? Good eye though, hahaha.
Just an fyi, some companies that do copies of their molds dont always use the same shell material or thickness, they also wont seal as well or prevent whisteling and wind noise as good. I am saying this because i have the ss1600 and i have an offbrand with the same shell but is garbage with its design. So although you are correct, its not always the case especially when it comes to round helmets
i n germany there are two brands that offer this helmet on there name rocc and nexo and costs around 100€ thats funny cause this helmet belong to the cheaper discount helmets that you can buy
This is sick. I'm sold. I always wanted something with a different shape but not as exaggerated as an Icon Variant.
I have the exact same helmet but mine is a Spirit Xcelerate, all matt black. Love the graphics on this one though.
I like the design & features. I'll have to try one.
2:15 OOoowwwwW and they got the Revzilla orange.. LMAO
When the tinted & mirror face shields are coming out?
TheSamuraiRonin They're expected to ship late-March 2015. -Hi-Viz Brian
Hows this helmet look on a cruiser/bobber motorcycle? Would it fit that style?
I ride with one. In have a dyna fatbob harley
Question about this helmet: (quick back story)When I bought my first motorcycle a few months ago now, I rushed into a seven zero seven helmet. I got a size large and had some issues with pressure build up and a killer headache at the top of my temples. I'm going to grit my teeth and bare it for now.
So now I'm really looking for something around the $200 dollar mark (less if possible, but I won't skimp on quality) and this caught my eye. I really want the internal sunvizor, my seven zero seven has one and I use it all the time. I'm just curious if there are any other good quality brands I should be looking into? I really love the graphic on this one though.
Also, with the head shape "intermediate round", this should keep me from having any pain around my temples correct? I fully understand however that it's impossible for anyone to know if it's going to fit right, I'm just curious if I'm making an accurate assumption.
I'm pretty sure this will be my next helmet if nothing else amazing pops up on my radar though.
Kyle Jackson All of your assumptions are pretty much correct, but I would get this helmet instead: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/hjc-is-17-helmet Quality wise, it'll win out over Speed and Strength. You might not get your favorite graphic, but the helmet itself will last longer. And it's also slightly round, which might help with your temple pressure. -Kraus-e
RevZilla Why do you say the HJC would last longer? I was about to purchase this helmet with long term intentions, but you're giving me second thoughts. While I'm here I thought I would ask, my head is right between medium/large. Should I grab large and use the pump up system to ensure a good fit?
Thanks i was wondering how i was gonna wash the liner. Now my liners smells much better.
Just picked up this helmet in the straight savage scheme for $90 on a closeout sale.
how do you like it?
Nasty looking helmet! Might pick one up myself
I'd just like to ask, Are the more expensive the helmet the safer it is? What is the safety of this helmet compared to a $200 AGV helmet? are AGV just expensive for the name?
+Srib That really depends. More expensive helmets tend to be better quality, but the only safety requirements for the helmets we sell are that they pass the US DOT safety standards. Some helmets we carry also pass the European ECE safety standards, and some others pass the voluntary Snell safety standard. The SS1600 meets the DOT and ECE safety standards and are labeled for both standards. The $200 AGV K3 SV sold in Europe is labeled for the ECE standard, but the US version only includes the legally required DOT safety label. The $200 AGV offers similar quality to the $200 Speed and Strength helmet. -DrewZilla
RevZilla Thank you that clears it up for me, I will probs order the AGV AX 8 EVO in the next month or two :)
I just bought this in Critical Mass in medium but I cannot put on my glasses with this at all. Should I get Large?
Edit: it was the mouth guard that was blocking me putting in my glasses correctly. Everything is fine now haha great video!
No, you shouldn't go up in size just to try to fit glasses. You need the helmet padding to be really snug around your head and cheeks. You could try removing the breath guard. -DrewZilla
This seems so nice! The graphics are insane! But is it glasses friendly?
danielcwc It depends on the size and shape of your glasses and how they sit on your face. If you decide to try it and it doesn't work, we are more than happy to take it back as a return. For more information on our return policy, have a look at our Return Policy page. -Hi-Viz Brian

Hi, I would need advice on which of these two comprear helmets, Nolan'm deciding between N86 and Speed and Strength SS1600, appreciate their information from pro and cons.
Thank you
Daniel Higa They both have similar intermediate oval to neutral head shapes, prices, features, and are of similar quality. I personally like the aggressive styling of the SS1600 from Speed and Strength. The SS1600 is also ECE 22-05 certified, but the Nolan N86 comes with a Pinlock face shield and lens for a true anti-fog system. -Hi-Viz Brian
thanks Brian
This helmet without a doubt is going to be my first! Thanks RevZilla! If It doesn't fit correctly can I send it back and get a full refund or how does this work? Lol
Jaime Zuniga Of course. -Hi-Viz Brian

Hey Revzilla, Do you think a small will be a bad fit since my head is in between 21 and 22 inches?? I also have an oval head. I have puffy, curly hair but I may get a hair cut soon. please let me know. Thank you!
Small would likely be appropriate for you. -DrewZilla
+RevZilla THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! YOU ARE FREAKING AWESOME!! THE WHOLE TEAM OF YOU GUYS AND ESPECIALLY YOU THAT JUST REPLIED TO ME. WHOEVER YOU MAY BE THANK YOU SO MUCH DIRECTLY TO YOU!
Is that the same profile than the Icon Variant ?
I'm in France and S&S are very hard to find to have a try.
The Variant in M fits me very well.
Another question :
Can we find a CLEAR inner sunvisor ?
+Simon Houel Yes, the fit is similar to the Variant, so a medium (M) Speed & Strength should also fit. As for the inner sun visor, we do not have an option for clear currently. -DrewZilla
So... I'm now having to wear glasses all the time, but I'm running into issues with the full face helmet padding pressing on my side's and causing my glasses to lift off my nose while riding... Does this helmet have enough room to accommodate for glasses??
No, this helmet isn't really good for glasses. For a helmet with an internal sun visor that does accommodate glasses better, consider the Scorpion EXO-T510. -DrewZilla

I have a question I just bought mine today can't wait but why is this helmet a double d strap and not a ratchet strap like the cheaper helmets from them any one know?
dragon360fly "Sport-oriented" helmets tend to have double D-rings, whereas more "touring-oriented" helmets have ratchet straps. This is not a hard and fast rule though. -DrewZilla
Ohhh didn't know that thanks for the info dude
Hey zilla, Im interested in this helmet for a back up to my new RF 1200. I like the drop down lens ( my RF didn't have that ), and the price, but isn't pinlock the new thing especially for dual shield systems? One more thing, how does this helmet work with Sena systems, especially the new 10c evo?
If you like the SS1600, take a look at the LS2 Vector and accessory Pinlock-style insert or the LS2 Stream and its optional Pinlock insert. As for the Sena 10C or forthcoming 10C Evo, they can mount on the SS1600 as well as the two LS2 helmets I mentioned, though they mount more easily on the two LS2s. -DrewZilla

RevZilla Wow, thanks, I wouldn't have known that. I just discovered revzilla and I wasn't expecting such a positive, and informative response.
You're welcome! -DrewZilla
What's a good helmet around 100? I'm on a budget and I'm gonna visit North Carolina and d.c. They have some pretty nice hills and it's gonna be my first time going down a BIG hill (I'm from Florida we are 100% flat) so a simple but good helmet would be great
+jake Henschel If you can afford it, I'd recommend the Scorpion EXO-R410. If that's a bit too expensive for you, then I recommend the Bell Qualifier followed by the LS2 Stream and HJC CS-R3. -DrewZilla

+RevZilla thanks
Why are they shipping with a D-ring rather than the ratchet strap? Nothing safety related, I hope!
Eric Blumenstein Not sure - I know d-rings tend to be more popular in the US though. -Kraus-e
I wear a small in the 1300 series what do you think in the 1600 series would a small be fine to what do you think?
Yes, size small would still be appropriate with the SS1600. -DrewZilla
No big difference from the ss1310. Just the sun visor ?
In addition to the sun visor, the SS1600 is both ECE- and DOT-rated for safety. The SS1310 is only DOT-rated. -DrewZilla
is it possible to get this helmet with speed straps? im asking because i saw some shops saying it comes with double d and some with speed straps
+Hisyam Khairul This helmet is being produced with double D rings. Therefore, we don't have any with a ratcheting quick release, nor are they available here in the US. -DrewZilla
Hey guys I’m currently riding in a speed and strength under the radar ss1310 helmet and was wondering if the ss1600 will fit my head please let me know and thanks so much again 😊
The SS1600 is slightly rounder, but it should still fit you. -DrewZilla
That would be a helmet I could see with a FZ07 or something flashy like that. Nice looking helmet!
NSDCGaming So true! -Hi-Viz Brian
I'll take who is Jake the Garden Snake for 500
The Bilt Rapter and the Cruise Missle by S&S are not the same But identical? One is 165.00 and the other 89.00 . but down to the ventury vents they are the same? do companies use same manufacturers? There is a considerable price difference, I don't wanna pay for a "name" only, i want safety as well. And if they are the same in regards to safety than why buy the S&S? Again they are not similar ther are identical. I'm bummed because I have bout many S&S products, only to find this out :( Please help.
John Rosberg Have you had a chance to try on the Speed and Strength Cruise Missile helmet? -Hi-Viz Brian
RevZilla No I have not, I am not hear to "question" but to more inquire.I have purchased many a S&S and Arai products from you all :) However I was concerned when I saw this as these and their mutual line up have matching comparables. Aside from decals the shell is identical. However the price point is not, and by a good margin even the internal vent holes (when liner is removed) is the same, Im just wanting to know if "branding companies" use the same manufacturer? For instance, Nike and Adidas use the same supplier and are manufactured in the same place (china). I typi ally would not care about this but again they are exact , yet there is a 1/2 price difference?
RevZilla Hi-Viz Brian please note you have helped me purchase a few things and I always do appreciate all the help Rev-Zilla gives when making a purchase. This inquiry is not at you at all what so ever. I was just hope you as experts could simply shed light on this as it is new to me.
John Rosberg I think that's a great question. My question above was simply out of curiosity. The answer to your question is yes and no. MHR is the Chinese manufacture that makes LS2, Speed and Strength, some Bell, and Bilt helmets. They're one of the largest helmet manufactures in the world. The Raptor and SS1600 are based off of the same design, but aren't the exact same helmets. For example, the SS1600 was built to meet / exceed ECE and DOT regulations. The Raptor is only DOT certified to my knowledge. It also looks like the Raptor was priced at $179.99 and is on sale at the moment. I appreciate the question! Thanks, John. -Hi-Viz Brian
+MrPurpleHippo
I'd be willing to bet it will fit perfectly. Every detail is identical.
Does SS1600 comes with smoked visor or I'd have to buy it separately?
+Sarthak Soni The helmet ships with a clear face shield only, though the helmet does have the internal sun visor. You would have to purchase a smoked outer visor separately. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/speed-and-strength-ss1310-ss1600-face-shield
Thanks for the pep DrewZilla.
Is there any diffrence between a double D ring style and a rachet style?
+JodogXMC Some people find the ratchet closure to be more convenient, while others like the simple reliability of the double D-ring. -DrewZilla
Hey if I'm a small in the icon airframe ghost and a medium in the arai rx-q fit, what size would i be in this specific ss 1600? thanks
Wez Hannin I'd start with a small. -DrewZilla
Can anyone tell me if I could get a clear drop visor? I want the tinted visor and clear drop visor, so I can open the visor at night and use the clear drop. Dont wanna carry any safety glasses on me all the time.
Speed & Strength does not offer a clear inner visor for the helmet unfortunately. -DrewZilla
anyone know how it fits compared to the ss700? im looking for an upgrade.
Both helmets are neutral- to round-oval in fit, so the SS1600 should fit you just fine. -DrewZilla
why is not free shipping to canada?
Since we are a US-based company, it is very expensive for us to ship to Canada. That said, we currently offer a flat-rate shipping option of $30 USD to Canada to help mitigate some of the cost. For full details, see the link below. -TeamZilla AJ

wouldn't this helmet fit the ktm perfectly? wew
That looks just like the Bilt raptor that is exactly like it but is half the cost.
qual e o preco deste
youtubes channel haha great review as always
Nice, I like it.
Too bad they are taking out the ratchet. Have one on my SS spin doctor and love it.
Same exact helmet as the Bilt Raptor/Eclipse models.
I am noticing in the comments that this helmet is also offered under a number of other discount brands as well.. Kinda funny.
this helmet as well as several others I have seen. are exactly the same. I have a bilt raptor helmet and it is identical 100%. I forget the other helmets that I have seen that are identical. but to me it seems like they are mass produced by one company and sold to other companies and labeled as there own.
Man jst bring us the roof desmo please!!!!??? Lol I need it
I like this helmet because if you scratch it it doesn't matter
this guy didn't studder one word lol
