I noticed he was still running these as well and was wondering. That said, the GT Run is my one of the main shoes in my rotation (GT Cut 2, GT Run, Jordan 37). I know a lot of people hated these but the cushioning and lockdown are amazing for me. The only con is traction on dust but outside of that these are like Kobes for me. Also, he was playing in the Hustle but prefers these and I can see why. The Hustle has less impact protection (not double stacked forefoot) and they aren’t as wide because they lack an outrigger.
Have you experienced any durability issues with the Jordan 37’s? I got them on a discount and I hooped in them outdoors a lot but the leno-weave uppers are still good as new.
@@thedrinkerofH2O Nope not a single issue with the uppers. It’s unfortunate that that NBA incident happened on a world stage but I’ve literally never heard of that happening to anyone else…ever. They feel strong yet light and breathable and that is an amazing feat for a shoe to pull off. The traction suffers on dust but everything about these I love (lockdown could be a bit better too, as the upper does stretch and I get slammed toes).
@@jrdatrackstar Yeah I wanted to see if I was the only one who thought they didn’t have bad durability at all lol, I got them one size bigger than I should though and realized it much later after the return deadline, so the lockdown is a bit of an issue. I don’t dribble with the ball that much though so I guess it’s OK, would wearing double socks be a good idea to accommodate for that?
If the shoe fits, wear it. I still wear the Nike Hyperdunk 2011 A) because I'm old and B) because I've yet to find a shoe that works better for my feet.
@@5at5unathere is No Way they could sell the shoes in that way🤦🏾♂️😂😂 Yes you get the default build. You have to go to a “shoe doctor “ to get Your own alterations. 🤷🏾♂️ tough cookie
Nike use to have a custom outrig on this outer sole for one LeBrons sigs at a time, was going as far to wear his budget line. Everyone who got the shoe was still wearing the OG non-outer rig model.
🤷🏾♂️ Nike already know exactly the type of technology they going use for his signature Shoe now.🤷🏾♂️😂😂 probably the first Nike athlete who doesn’t rotate shoes often. Intriguing
I think the cushioning under feet as well as a minimal an streamline shoe is what he’s looking for. As someone how has bony feet the double stack is next to none for underfoot cushion. I had it in my aj 37’s which btw, I feel, are the best shoes I’ve hooped in. Wemby seems to work on his lower body a lot so I don’t think he needs anything crazy supportive, he probably just wants a shoe that will go along for the ride and won’t get in his way.
I bet he'll get his own signature shoe soon and will take most elements from this for his performance/health with just it's own styling and probably improved specs more towards Basketball like the traction pattern etc.
G.T. Run has tons of cushioning for impact protection while not too high off the ground like the G.T. Jump 1 & 2, G.T. Hustle just doesn’t have enough impact protection for Wemby, I think his 1st signature shoe will be similar to G.T. Run
Just goes to show that the newest offerings aren't necessarily the best for you. Been wearing the dame 1s for the longest time had no issues. Would've loved to keep playing in those but I burned through the tread already.
With my thicker feet, I found the GT Runs almost unbearable with the lace pressure through that thin tongue. It was so bad it's hard for me to fathom that the PEs don't have extra padding to alleviate that.
With Wemby's unique frame and foot features, will having his signature line within his first two seasons help him in minimize the chances of (early) foot/knee injuries?
I have all the variations of every single shoe in the GT series! I use a different version depending on which role I’ll be playing that day & they all do extremely well!
I’m a piss-ant compared to Wenmby but at 6”7 370 lbs I wore these GT runs till they wasted away, loved them. Only annoying thing was my mid foot hurt when I cranked them to lock in Eventually I got used to the thin tongue GOAT shoe for me
Hopefully science keeps him in the NBA for a while, bc extremely big men have an extremely low success rate. I wanted the Rockets to get him, but if his longevity is very low bc of an injury that might happen here in a year or two and it never allows him to fully bounce back, so that's the only reason I'm ok with missing out. So his upside is the highest, but his huge feet also make injury a lot easier.
He's has already play professional basket since his 16 years old so the concern about his health is not so much important in fact that's what US nba followers feel about him but for us french and his coach and stuff they are not afraid cause he's very strong
Hi Zach! Got a question for you! Do you think big heel cushionings like Zoom or Boost or mushy foams can be a issue for Achillies because of the compression? I got achillies tendonits and I feel like a stiffer heel foam give me less stress on my Achillies than big or mushy foams! P.S: love your videos 🙏🏽🙏🏽
For mi gt run 1 is one of the best shoes it took me like 2 weeks to break it but I didn't feel pain in my back and my knee it doesn't feel soft and it not heavy I don't need all This traction on Kobe o way o way that kill my knees
no thoughts on the mussiness of zoom strobel? i had to pop the units in my KD's cuz it felt like running on a trampoline. no support when you run. my ankles would be sore for days after running in them for 20 minutes. now i use them deflated and i can go all day. love the traction and fit for the kds.
yo, i'm 5'8 at 15 who plays more like a forward with slender, long, flat feet, do you think these shoes would work for me, or should i look towards other options? if so, what other shoes should i look into
I just assumed he couldn’t find shoes in his size. Also, thought maybe he chose GT series of shoes because he didn’t want to wear a player specific shoe so he could get his own shoe. But your vid makes more sense.
Great Review Bro💪🏿🧠☄️ If youre looking for the (👑) King of the Streets try to get the Li-Ning Bad Five 3 Ultra, great cushioning, great materials, for any type of surface pretty much, those are 🔥💯💥
Hey Zach. Need advice on some budget shoes. The previous ones I've had tore near my toe or under my foot. I play on outdoor courts. Probably gonna go get em in a day or two....
Can you do a video on the new Sketchers basketball shoes? I believe they’re are two of them. One general basketball shoe and one specific for Julius Randle.
I'm hoping, sooner rather than later, people and companies catch onto wide toebox shoes, and they become a lot more common than they are now. Wemby does a lot to take care of his feet, but if he keeps wearing nikes he's going to end up with feet like lebron or kd lmao.
Why would he or others who have the $$$ and have the need, not get Nike or other brands to create a hyper custom shoe for optimal performance and foot health? Or is that a thing?
Your feet don't get "flat" over time naturally, nor do they "collapse" or "pancake" because of the amount of force the foot muscles absorb. The arch in your foot is indicative of the muscle definition, which is increased as the foot muscles are utilized. A "collapsed arch" is just atrophied muscles, which is very common as most people use rigid shoes to do the work that their foot muscles would be doing if they were running either barefoot or running with a very heavy load. The best test case for this is marathon runners, particularly the world-class African runners- if the hypothesis that the "collapsed arch" was a result of load, they would all have flat feet, but they do not. If the hypothesis that load caused "collapsed arch", you would also see this in the animal kingdom, and we see precisely the opposite, with the strongest animals having defined muscles in their feet. A gorilla or chimpanzee foot at rest has a natural bend to it because the muscles definition is so pronounced.
I hear this argument every so often and unfortunately for people with foot pain related to acquired or congenital Flatfoot it ignores a lot of basic anatomy and biomechanics of the foot/ lower leg, specifically the superficial posterior compartment and hamstring group. I wish it were that easy to fix or prevent foot issues - id be the first one to change my practice. Plenty of great textbooks on this subject though if you're curious
