The fact that I could make an 8 minute video of Wemby blocks in his ROOKIE SEASON is mind blowing to me 🤯🤯
Yea ikr
Man is like mutombo like wtf
And there are still poeple who say its only because of his height....
Still a couple weeks to go
At the end of his carreer, you'll have one full youtube channel dedicated to his blocks videos.
This comment was... BLOCKED BY WEMBANYAMA
😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣
😂
😭
😂
Is there a statistical category for 'blocks and regains possession'? Because if it doesn't exist, someone needs to create it to quantify how much more valuable Wemby's blocks are than anyone else's. So many blocks (in fact most of Victor's early in the season) end up going into the crowd, but Wemby is just pinning shots against the backboard or flipping it to a teammate. It's absolutely insane how he can get more blocks per game than anyone else in the league, and then decide "nah that's not enough" and so regain possession on almost all of them.
Such a valid point mate 🙌🏼
Points off turnover
I never seen anyone do that consistently... they also need a stat for those double-blocks when an opponent thinks they can try him a second time.
not only that mate, players avoid to even attempt a fg when wemby is in the paint, its so often now that they simply pass it out for a 3 point shot. if the players were to attempt as many fg in the paint as with other defensive players, wemby would have EVEN more blocks
Bill Russell did that a lot on the Celtics
It’s not just his sheer height and length, it’s his reaction timing and defense IQ combined with his hustle.
If it was just his height then Manute Bol and Gheorghe Muresan should have been GOATs
Stop the overhype
It's simple fundamentals
Some poeple said "it because his height and length"
And also some people said "dont overhype"
Just compare yourself To Messi or Ronaldo.
Or compare yourself as some Sport Fan
But he's Messi + CR7 🤷@@solteir325
No, it's pretty much his height. He gets beat to the rim all the time. There are multiple breakdowns on RUclips that show he plays bad defense, but his length saves it.
When 3 blocks is a bad night for him, that's your DPOY
It’ll be Rudy Gobert, unfortunately because anything besides the rookie of the year is all “team based”
@@squidMB I understand but yeah you can’t be dpoy when you’re team is 20-60 lol. Rudy got that 🐺🙌🏼
@@Andrew-dd3yt you're just further proving his point, why are you saying the Spurs are 20-60 when its defensive PLAYER of the year.
@@JoshNBANFL “keep saying” like this isn’t my only comment about the situation lol. But for example if my Timberwolves were 20-60 I would not be claiming Rudy as dpoy
Then it should be DToY not DPoY
Imagine playing against this guy and he snatches your fadeaway jumper out of the air....
It's easy to imagine, just remember when you were 5 years old and played against your dad 🤣
It's like snatching a dangerous object from a kid's hand@@elirane85
yes king , then it makes you queen..
7:06
@@elirane85 And if your dad was also CRAZY athletic :D Basketball can definitely be an unfair game sometimes lol.
The compilation of Wembanyama’s blocks by the end of his career is going to be 10+ hours.
Imagine if this guy ends up getting crazy muscular like Giannis or Lebron did?😳
I definitely wouldn’t doubt him averaging 35 ppg 15 Reb 5 blocks per game some day.
He really does have all the potential in the world to be the GOAT.
@@dr.penguin9412 he don't even need muscle he need minutes and Trae Young
@@Alijahboi he don’t need the muscle. He’ll still be a top 1-3 player in the league and very likely the #1 player in the league even without the muscle.
But if you added a Giannis/lebron amount of muscle on him, he would be #1 in the league by a whole whole lot, and possibly even #1 in all of nba history by a whole lot.
There has never been an nba player with this much potential before
@@dr.penguin9412his legs wouldnt be able to stand it, he’ll get injured a lot
@@Silvannax11 have you seen his mobility? Dude can bend his body like Djokovic
NBA: defence is not fun for the fans
Wemby: hold my blocks
0:33 Look at the immediate change of space with his footwork. It's just so much more than the height, the balance, footwork ,anticipation, he's a DPotY his rookie season. Unreal!
en francais altoghter : "le timing" lol
This dude is fundamentally changing the game single handedly. I've never seen someone of that tall so nimble and fast. Is this the start of another Spurs dynasty?
I like how some of these have incorrect whistles because even the refs can't believe a human being just did that legally.
His block against Maxey in OT (or whenever it was) was about as close as possible to being a legal block, he’ll probably end up having a lot of plays where he barely hits it off the glass
This is probably what Wilt looked like. Haven’t seen much of his play but I can imagine how dominant he was near the rim.
Another era, another basketball.
Nothing compares to today's game speed and spacing. Today's players are much more athletically evolved.
@@cyrilleribeiro5030 For sure, but just in terms of sheer dominance I think it's not a bad comparison
@@JakeFoster01 yess i agree
This dude is better than wilt
Russell was considered a better defender than Chamberlain. When Russell blocked a shot, the block tended to become the outlet pass. When Chamberlain blocked one, the offense retained possession because the ball went out of bounds.
I LOOOOVE it when some idiots out there are like, “Of course he gets a lot of blocks, he’s 7’4!!”
And then you’re just like, “Ok, so why wasn’t Yao Ming an amazing shot blocker?”
Then they’re like, “I mean, he’s not just 7’4, he also has an 8’ wingspan!”
And then you’re like, “So why wasn’t Tacko Fall an amazing shot blocker?”
Then they go silent.
That's it.
ofc with this body he had to defend well, he had to guard two guys in same time, he had to take rebounds, pass well, dunk often... this is the theory with this body.
But so many tall guys have to do that and they don't...
so many musclemen have to do that and they don't...
Zion, Holmgren, Gobert, Embiid, Bol Bol etc... even KD, I mean especially in defense !
So many great NBA players can do one of these things, but they don't or not all of this...
We have to admit, they still great but they are'nt Wemby.
And like he said, this is just the beginning.
7'4 but moves like 6'8
Kid have is head above the rim when jumping...
He 's athletic for a giant...
@@asalcatraz2334 Dude has a 32inch vert. For a 7'5'' that's fucking bananas. Wet bananas :)
The amount of times the spurs retain possession after a block is insane
Angles that players are used to taking and have a 'shot' at scoring is completely off the table with Wemby. He makes players play a different game than they are used to. Wild
I love how everyone tries to body him and he just absorbs it and blocks the shot anyways 😂
I member people commenting that Giannis, Jokic, Zion, and Valančiūnas will break Wembanyama if he is going to guard them.
Hahaha he block all if them🤣😂😂
He rly love basketball. Both defense and attack, he truly like what he does, where he play. Thats the difference. He put his freaking heart into the court every match.
Tyrese Maxey said he got to play 1 on 1 against Wemby sometime, and Wemby wanted to only play defense. Maxey said it's the first time he ever saw a basketball player do that 🤣
He is truly the spiritual heir of Tim Duncan. I could easily see the spurs going back to being perennial contenders for another 15 years
dude is a legit DPOY in his rookie season. he can protect the rim, switch on the small, everything.
Defensive year of the player?😂
changed it. lol
Videos of quality always! This man’s work ethic is unreal.
❤️❤️❤️ thank you so much bro !
Nah you glazing at this point.
And height ethic😂😂😂
I was hooked on steph's insane 3 pointer videos thought nothing will come close to that ever. But then wemby cane and just started swatting and boy is it fun. Cant wait for the next season. THE SEASON OF SWATTING. 👽👽
One moment in Time Chet will Never forget...
never heard from him since 🤣
He just high five blocked Chet, and some thunder fanboys calling Chet FOTO candidate? Delusional
Victor Wembanyama Blocking the Raptors for 8 Minutes Straight
That's a good one😂😂😂
As a raptor fan, yes he was having a block party and I was dying of laughter 🤣
Wemby should win the award of ROY as well the DPOY this season. What he´s doing is insane!
I think the spurs will win the title in the next 3 or 4 years.
New Stat for the League: OFFENSIVE BLOCKS - blocks shot with possession of ball and coverted to points, DEFFENSIVE BLOCKS - blocks shots but opposing team still has possession of the ball.
I do believe this kid will break every shot blocking record known to man...
We are so blessed to witness the unfolding of a future 🐐. He will go down in NBA history as the greatest shot blocker of ALL TIME! See me in 5 to 10 years from now.
2:36 When you're trying to play against your dad, but he's not letting you win
This kid is just so incredible for so many reasons. He doesn't just get fingers on a ball and mess up shots. The amount of contact, redirection, and control he gets on these blocks make them practically steals! His blocks are out of the world, and it's just his rookie season! It would almost be enough on its own to make him a valuable pick, but then we add on that he's shooting 46% FG, 32% from 3, getting tons of rebounds? He's honestly such a menace. I would be terrified to go up against this guy. Teams are going to need unique gameplans just to work around his play and even then, he's still just such a solid player, he can bring value regardless. I especially think he carries his height in an unassuming way and that surprises people a lot. The way he holds himself when he's in an athletic posture disguises his size. So when people are going up near him thinking they're in the clear, the amount he can elevate just by literally standing up straight is surprising a lot of shooters and drives. It happened constantly in this clip, it's going to keep happening. I'm no spurs fan but this kid is amazing and I can't wait to see his continued growth and potential.
Nice spotting his deceptive ability.
You're right. He crazy agile, and it seems like crouches very low before completely reaching out of nowhere to snatch shots out of the air.
His athletic posture though, while unassuming,
Is also made to tower over opponents and smother them when guarding them,
So he can take up physical space and impose himself when he wants too..
Never thought there could be a better defensive big than Tim
Duncan, and now we see the next evolution with the spurs? crazy
He also make some good assist and he will improve. So, even if others teams make an anti wemby plan, this kid can pass to his teamates. Wemby need another good defender to help the team when he will be on the bench and a good pg.
Sonetimes i witness something special and feel privileged to do so. Watching this kid play basketball is one of those things. He is the future greatest
0:56 this literally made him ROTY right😭‼️
We are looking the history
He will be the all time leader in blocks. Provided he stays healthy
Wilt is back
He is definetely 100× more skilled than wilt in ball not considering plumber skills,it's probably vice versia for that.
@@noobtube373 versa...
@@noobtube373 always good to see a person who doesn't lie saying a guy from an obsolete era is better than a way More advanced one, most who say Wilt is so great watch highlights only,
I have seen full games from his era they look trash even compared to the 90s way More skilled era so why say wilt was better and could do great now If he couldn't?
Nice and very cool video of wemby I am a very big fan of the nba
loved the music man, fr, exactly the type of video my brain wanted when it say the thumbnail. even better maybe!
1:06 block on Chet into the block oop combo was too OP. Man is a cheat code.
Awesome video! DPOY!
so joyful to watch!
Didn't expect my countries only NBA player, Jakob Poeltl, to be featured that often in a highlight-reel video. On the receiving end, I must add. ;)
Der arme Jakob. ;)
wemby having a blocks vid this long as a rookie is scary for the league. also, hakeem played 18 seasons and has 3830 blocks. at his current rate, wemby has the potential to pass hakeem for most blocks in nba history in just his 14th season.
Wemby is tall and has a great sense of timing. He feels the game. Greetings from France. 🙂😉
He’s the best player of all time already
he is rookie chill
Relax relax let's not get ahead of ourselves
Someone gotta put in the Colossal Titan theme for Wemby. That's what it must feel like to face this man
this kid isnt just another tall kid, he’s unbelievable
the music 😂
Wemby is basically your older sibling when it comes to snatching.
craziest block highlight reel of any rookie in modern basketball history
OP. You want to blow your mind even more? Compile the times he played the passing lanes where he got a steal or forced a turnover.
His ability to not get baited by pro-level fakes is also insane.
He's like a more athletic version of Bill Russell. Notice how his blocks keep the ball in play (e.g. he catches it or sends it toward his teammates) AND how he reacts so quickly afterwards either leading a break or making a great outlet pass. What a player. Along with all the other greats in the NBA right now he makes games so fun to watch. Can't wait to see what he does going forward.
the scottie barnes one is crazy just for how much distance he covered in the short amount of time he did
Him being dunked on one time really sparked a fuse
“ in it was rejected by wembanyamaaaaaaa” 😭😭😭😭
That block on Chet was the moment the ROY race was over.
Yes, it was over right then! 😁
0:54 he is Spurs franchise player for the next 2 decades
0:55 he is ROTY
The whole video tells us he is DPOY
If he doesn't get it, NBA is very sus
I think that the most important thing of all that, is that he is really fun to watch. I think he is the first player, since along time ago, to give that stuff, even Curry or Lebron havent that thing. The fun x factor.
1:18 DAMNNNN
Dude is gonna be a star
True
Already is the dpoy
Already is
He's like a dad playing against his 5 year old. He makes other 7 footers look silly.
Awesome I just bought a hoops rookie card gem 10 happy I did 😊 very very impressed happy to have him here in San Antonio go spurs go!
I am a fan of...Victor Wembyama. This guy is Slenderman incarnate, but instead of eating kids he blocks shots. 🏀👀
Wemby making defense cool again!
Wemby playing like a BIG BROTHER!
I sad it before! i think Wemby is an incarnation of wilt Chamberlain who went angry for being so overlooked in his days and decided to came back!!!
Best part about Wembenyama block is that his team almost always gains the possession.
He does not swat the ball to the stands and always try block it down
7:05 how fast he recovers after lifting for that pump fake is insane
Be it offense or defense, after a block, he doesn't stand there and watch. He races back down the other end of the court....respect!
The fact that not only is this guy this good so young but he’s also being tutored under the mastermind that is Pop is crazy
Wemby is like the anti luka. Where luka is an entire offense in a single player. Wemby is an entire defense im one player.
I get a kick out of the players that are in denial and they raise their hand to the notion of "Goal Tending" or "Foul" 😂
Top 10 by next season and best player by 2 seasons
4:47 his smile is the same smile I make when I'm blocking my 7 year old son.
I love this. People have been begging for a defensive powerhouse for years now.
usually its scoring for this kind of length video highlights but fk this is only blocks. LMAO
casuals saying its normal and should be expected because of his height and length but you need to consider that this is also a rookie and shot blocking requires IQ and timing. Hes playing against Pros.
the blocks in the post after guys push him under the basket are difficult. Imagine what he will be like when he gets stronger
Thats the cleanest edited thumbnail I have seen
Jakob Poetl responsible for about 15-20% of the block highlights lol
Greg popovich looks like a super villain now 😂
after blocking he can even take the ball safe!きれいな爽やかなブロックですね!何度見ても気持ちいいです!
The way Wemby plays is like a Create-A-Player in the old 2k games. 7’5, hits 3s and blocks EVERYTHING 😂
I love the block on Holmgren bc I imagine he’s never (at least seldom) been blocked on that step back before
He makes it look SO easy!
Everyone else: block
Wembanyama: catch in air
His awareness is crazy. He truly knows how to master his size and self. Just the beginning
This guy adapted to the NBA much sooner than I expected. European leages are pretty halfcourt happy compared to the NBAs run n gun playstylye.
1:08 sequence is crazy.
This is as good as any players top CAREER highlight… in his rookie season. Crazy.
Bros an elden ring boss with these blocks😂
Next season he’s gonna have a full documentary just about his blocks 💀
Please, what's the music from 0:10?
The faces on these NBA centers when they get blocked is hilarious to see. They’re feeling small maybe for the first time in their lives
LOL the guy on the bench at 2:45 shaking his head
1:10 he didn't even jump
I think we may have to start making wembamyama stats. Like how there’s a Messi stat in football. Wembanyama may also have multiple stats too. Not only is he a supreme shot blocker, he has deterred so many 2v1 or 3v1s. Do you know how insane it is that there’s so many plays of it being more than 1 Vs Wemby and he basically stops them from shooting.
When the video almost starts on rookie blocking Lebron, you know it’s going to be awesome
Half the time he's just standing there and somebody tries to sneak past him. He just leans in that direction and puts his hand up like he's changing a light bulb. Pop isn't going to see it through, I think, but he and the previous coaches did a great job teaching him how to stay down and not fall for anything around the rim, which is really going to help him win games later instead of trying to send every shot to the second row and missing.
Dude has the most air-tight no-fly zone in the world...
That man blocked the living shit out of TOR
Ralph Sampson was exactly the same height, and we All know how that story ended. There's been ALOT of Tall guys come and go, but only ONE who plays like Wemby. Gotta give him RESPECT. 💯
