the thing with Ed is he deserved what he got from Shane and more. Its hinted at in this episode and later on that Ed wasnt just abusive to Carol but that he was sexually abusing Sophia. The creepy look on his face when he said stay here, keep your daddy company was one of the red flags.
I think in season 5 Carol mentions to Daryl how they went to a social service shelter several times too, and later Carol mentions to Ezekiel that she had short hair because Ed used to grab her by the hair to beat her, so yeah, Ed deserved every punch he took.

Fun fact about the zombies/walkers: Many zombie extras have appeared on the show in multiple episodes with different make up as different zombies. Greg Nicotero, the lead guy in charge of the make up and special effects on the show, has played several different zombies on the show, including the one that bites Amy in this episode.

I know Daryl wasn’t really nice in the first episodes, but if you continue watching and find out his backstory you will maybe understand why he tried to be this emotionless, careless and mean person.
He is literally the kindest character in the hole show like we all love Daryl and i bet you will love him too in the next seasons. He cares so much and is so kind! He went through a lot of trauma.

When Sofia went missing, Daryl was the only one who really committed besides Rick even climbed up a mountain injured. He's a badass but he's got a soft side and that's why he's the best with Glenn

If you were to continue watching the series, you will see the "walkers" become more and more decayed as the years pass, the directors of the show said it about the middle of series around seasons 4 - 6.

Really sad fact: there was a deleted scene for this episode where Rick’s group came back to the senior place, and everyone was dead man :( they were all attacked by walkers

They were attacked by humans the walkers came later I believe it was a tease to the governor

Some of them had gunshots in their heads. It's theorized that it was the Governor who did it (in the comics he goes to Atlanta and I believe it's confirmed he killed Vatos)

It’s possible that it was the alarm on the car Glenn took that lured the zombies there Slowly but persistently trudging towards the last place they heard the loudest noise like that with the added noise of other vehicles going to the camp They’re lucky there weren’t even more of them since they’re still reasonably close to Atlanta (which is full of zombies)

I think its possible there are several things that lead the herd that way, when Rick first entered Atlanta there was a helicopter up in the air, Glenn driving with the alarm on and im still thinking its possible Merle as Daryl put it, brought some vengence back to camp. I dont think it was just the car alarm.
I think it was Merle, bringing some pay back , that lured them there.

Jim's line about the dead eating his family was straight out of the comics, he's easily one of my favorite characters in the first season because of how similar he is to his comic version
I would argue that Shane didn’t go far enough concerning the Ed situation.

This was a great episode and emotional! I especially liked the scenes with Andrea and Amy on the fishing boat and Dale explaining the symbolism of his watch. Amy's death was so sad😭

This was a good episode. I love the grandmother and the fact that the Vatos stayed with the old people to help them as best they could. The attack on the camp by the Walkers was terrible. It shows that no one is safe in this world.

funfact! (don't worry it's not a spoiler) there was a deleted scene where the whole crew goes back to the valots gang and everyone was dead with walkers still eating what was left...pretty gruesome stuff, apparently it was supposed to signify how the "soft" and "caring" people (like the ones who would risk their lives to stay and care for the elderly) will only end up dead sooner than later in this new world.

I believe Atlanta, Ga(where it is filmed) locals were/are used for walkers/zombies in terms of background ones so I'm not sure if they were "recycled".

Glenn is definitely up there with my favorite characters. The pizza line is just delivered so well (pun intended lol). Daryl ends up being my favorite next season. Takes a while to warm up to him, but I adore him afterwards. And Carl, and Carol, and Rick, too, of course. This show just has so many of the best characters around tbh! Your Glenn survived the episode! Yea! We all could use a Glenn in our lives. RIP Amy. Your exactly right. The writers know how to make us connect with the characters so fast. Lorie Holden (Andrea) is a great actor. The Amy death scene got me in the feels too. The first time was the Rick and Carl reunion, and this was the second time. I couldnt believe they didn't have someone keeping watch! Angelina, have you seen "The Mist"? It had some TWD actors in it. Lorie Holden, Jeffrey Demun (Dale), and Melissa McBride (Carol). Good Movie. Anyway, I just want to ask, are you going to keep watching after season 1? Hope so!

I love it that you turned on the subtitles. I had a deaf friend who got me doing it. She had her implants and could hear, but she convinced me to do it because she said there a lot of things you miss in character dialogue with out them, she was right. Now I always use subtitles and it also helped me get into shows in other languages

Yes zombie actors are recurred, there are some actors who worked on this show for 7 years as walkers. The crew plays walkers sometimes. Greg Nicotero (producer and chief makeup artist) plays a walker in every season. He played that walker who ate deer in previous epsiode. Also they often cast amputee actors to play zombies.
I love Glenn so much too. I can tell you're not sure about Daryl right now, but give him time. He is my idol.

Well remember, Shane got him to the hospital and when it came to it he didn’t hear a heartbeat but didn’t wanna leave him vulnerable so he barricaded Rick in to keep his body safe

I love T-dog so much for the fact that even though Merle was HORRIBLE to him he still cares that Merle is a human being and doesn't stoop to his level. His moral compass is top-notch 😊
I think the only thing I like about Merle is his will to survive and the fact that is so smart. He's a piece of trash personality-wise but he character is also super interesting 🧐 so at least he isn't a boring piece of trash lol

Even though Daryl is clearly racist/prejudiced I love that they show how upset he is when they kidnap Glenn. Things like racism/prejudice are learned and it's peoples' actions that truly show if they believe that shit or not. People like Daryl give me hope that all that can be unlearned (if they're willing) and that they just need education and exposure to other cultures. We have been taught so much hate that we don't even realize it's all just lies created to separate and control us. Keeps us so focused on hating each other that we don't notice the real problems in the world

Except for Negan. He will try to convince you that he’s a good guy doing terrible things for good reasons, but he is actually an evil power hungry monster that goes out of his way to employ the worst humans. That is how he and his people are depicted from their very first encounter and if you pay attention to his actions rather than his words, you’ll see that your first impression is the correct one.
