Carol: "We're friends with the chick with the sword and the kid in the hat." The theme of humans being the worst enemy of humans continues with this amazing first episode of season 5. Martin was pissing us off but he was also an interesting character. When Rick reunites with Judith, it cuts to Carol and Michonne, who’ve both lost a child. Then when Sasha and Tyrese reunite, it cuts to Daryl, who’s lost a brother.
Daryl's overwhelming happiness at seeing Carol is so raw and pure. Once he's in her arms is the moment he can feel and express some of the sadness he's been bottling up. I consider this episode to be a perfect combination of action and emotion. Onward we go!
What a premiere! The birth of 'gangsta ass' Carol, as Jimmy Macram coined. She's had such an amazing arc up to this point. From a meek abused wife to an independent, strong warrior. MVP of the group.
Premiere that started the downfall of the series, this is when it became 100% unrealistic. From a whole army and a tank failing to beat the group to one person taking out a whole base in a span of just few episodes.. yeah no
Yeah, it still has the highest viewership to date. With only a few episodes left to air in S11 and the viewership ratings having fallen so low, it will probably hold onto that record. I'm not sure even the series finale will approach the 17.29 million viewers that this episode had. 7x1 was a close second, in terms of viewership, with 17.03 million viewers.
Carol became my favorite character when she told Andrea to sleep with the Governor, then kill him. This episode solidified it, though. When we first saw Carol, she was cowering beside a fire with her abusive husband, here she uses fire as power and finally gets to show how much she’s grown.
13:20 The pile of toys is a mild but horrifying reflection of how many children the terminus has killed and eaten during this time. I didnt catch it the first time because there was sooo many going on at the same time, after realizing it during re-watch, the level of horror just sky-rocketed
Carol takes down Terminus like a boss! And Tyreese prove beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he is still a beast when it comes to taking out zombies! Edited to add: did you notice that the first guy to get his throat slit was the same guy that Carol and Rick ran into in the first half of the season; the episode that Rick sent Carol packing.
I couldn't wait for you guys to get to season 5! This is by far one of the best season premiers of the whole series. The termites might've had the numbers but we had Carol and she was definitely wearing her much deserved BAD ASS badge right here! Rick was so right about them feeling stupid. The Z/A is a scary scary place where the most desperate people do the most horrible things! But Cannibals? WTF!!! 🤯🤯 But The reunion of our group when we saw them all walking together was the best!! Season 5 is a great season full of great episodes!!! Awesome reaction Rob n Trin ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Been watching you since you started The Walking Dead. You are apart of my routine on Thursdays and Sundays. Thank you guys for being so genuine and real. Cant wait for more :)
One of the most powerful episodes yet. Seeing Rick so focused in his rage is amazing. And Carol as Rambo is icing on the cake. When I saw that long-haired crazy dude the first time, I never made the connection in later episodes. The mark on his forehead was the tell. Seeing Morgan at the end was awesome. He has had an interesting journey. Carol's love of fire get's more evident as time goes by.
99 writers out of 100 would make Carol and Daryl a romance. I love that they just became the best platonic friendship between a man and woman in any tv show.
Love how confident Carl and Michonne are that Rick and the others are coming back from them. No worries whatsoever. Savage Rick is my favorite Rick, and of course this just elevated Carols character even more
Loved the reaction! You guys are so quick. Love the fact that Rob recognized the first guy at the trough. The watch Carol grabbed was Rick's watch that he gave to that same guy so him and his gf with the tattooed leg could meet Rick and Carol back at that house at a certain time.
Exactly this. I was hoping one of them would realise who the guy was because it took me a second watch through years ago to realise who he was. The small details like the watch being in their group of items is always so awesome to see.
I’ve also heard that apparently the main cast members weren’t told what was going to happen inside the terminus building so when the man got his throat slit, their reactions were genuine.
I remember reading something about how the reunion of Rick and Judith was really difficult to film because the baby was so afraid of Andrews bloody face, she kept crying of terror. Not sure whether they finally reverted to using a doll or not😅 This episode really brings out everything this show is about and was an amazing season start!
Also the guy playing the dckhead in the shed with Tyrese.. the actor was afraid he might accidentally hurt the baby when had to hold her head like he was about to do you know what, so the baby’s real father stepped in to do that footage
I'm glad you guys finally got here! Who knew a zombie show could go from extreme violence and gore, and show us a father and son reunite with their daughter/sister and we would be brought to tears. We waited half a season for Rick and Carl to see Judith again, and the payoff was extremely satisfying 💜
Loved the reaction. Great episode. One thing that really disturbed me was all the stuffed animals in the storage place. That was a lot of children killed. Tha amount of stuff was outrageous but thinking of the kids they killed was maddening
Still a top favorite for the fans. Highest rated episode up to now. FYI when the dumb butt had his hands around Judith it was really her father in real so easy for the baby. One of the many reasons I love this show. There are on hand top therapists every and all. When Rob says that this show desensitized him, fans get it. We have been saying forever that it's not about blood and gore but rather family. What would you do for your family. Great reaction again guys
Imagine watching this series back in the day, waiting for the episodes and seasons to come. That must've been agonizing. And I'm just getting a taste of what it would be like by waiting for your reactions.
Oh was it ever agonizing!! It was horrible waiting wk to wk.. Ughh! At the end of each season I would wait for the DVD to come out n run to the store n just watch start to finish!!
Trin made me laugh today when she said “oh shut up, shut up even more” 😂🤣😂🤣 great reactions yet again Absolutely love when Daryl sees carol and Rick and Carl see Judith and Sasha see tyrese make me cry every time. I love season 5 and 6 the most 🙌🏻 Have a great evening both of you 😊
I haven’t read all the comments, but if you guys didn’t know, the long-haired bearded man they let out of the one train car who yelled “We’re the same!”… It’s the same antagonist/rapist from the THEN scenes… he had been locked in the train car ever since Garreths family had taken the place back.
Daryl: Sounds like a damn war. Me: No. Just Carol. 😂 To me, this was the perfect episode. It gave me everything I wanted with the characters/story and more. I've been waiting with bated breath for you to get to this one, and you didn't disappoint. (You never do!) Also, you should see all the Carol/Rambo Carol memes that came out after this one aired. 🤣🤣🤣 Bravo for catching Tyreese's lie. Most reactors I've watched believed him when he said he killed Martin. But if you look closely, remember that walker Tyreese impaled on the tree stump? It was missing when the group got there. Either it was a continuity error on the show's part, or Tyreese put the walker body in the cabin so if anyone (like Carol) looked through the window, they would think it was Martin lying dead inside. You notice when Carol started to head inside, he stopped her. I don't know for sure which it was, but I prefer to think it wasn't just a continuity error. 🤣 What a heartbreaking Mika callback when Rick wondered if Terminus was still burning and Carol told him it was. (Because Mika had told her white smoke means the fire is out, although that's not strictly accurate. LOL) Kudos also for recognizing Sam at the trough. A lot of people also missed that cameo appearance. I'm sure others have mentioned this already, but the watch Carol found was Rick's watch that he had let Sam borrow. It was a harsh way to finally get it back, though. Poor Sam.
This culminates my very favorite half season (followed closely by the first half of season 6). It is the teasers for season 5 that actually pulled me into watching the whole show. Glad you enjoyed it.
Fun Fact for you about this episode when they shot the scene where part of the group was getting killed in order to become food the main cast was not told that the other actors would bleed that much so that producers could get genuine disgust and panic reactions from Glenn Rick and Daryl ;)
Yay! I've been excited to see your reaction to Carol's transformation. She's become killer Karol. Remember her in season 1? I think she became S tier in this episode. Welp. Time to save the world with Eugene.
Awesome reaction!! Fun fact! in the scene where Martin (the guy carol and tyerese captured) threatens to kill judith those actually aren’t his hands around her neck it’s the hands of the actual father of the baby!! I think he said that was the only way he would let them to that scene and i can’t respect that decision enough! Cant wait for the next one!
Comic Comparisons : The current arc mirrors an arc in the comic named Fear The Hunters Terminus as a place doesn’t exist but the people do Instead it’s just a traveling group of cannibal bandits who kidnap people and eat them It’s nowhere near as organized as in the show.
I'm loving watching your reaction to this incredible show, it still remains one of my favourites, but to coin a phrase, "you ain't seen nothing yet" springs to mind, some interesting character arc's in this show and I love the fact that it's not all about how scary the Walkers are, but more about the situations and humans fight for survival in a world that no longer belongs to them, the emotions, the friendships, the romances, and the comradery of the group is fantastic to watch, highly entertaining and emotionally moving, its the kind of show you wish would last forever because it's just so damn good.
I love the reunion of Rick Carl and Judith but I also love the reunion of Tyreese and Sasha part of the reason she didn’t want to go to Terminus is because she didn’t want to deal with the fact that he might not be there that he probably didn’t make it seeing him with Judith then seeing her take off running behind Rick her crying tears of joy as she gets a big bear hug from her big brother always gets me misty eyed I love their dynamic even just the little bits we’ve gotten of them so far.
I’ve been waiting for this since I watched your episode 1 season 1 reaction. This episode and the next two are my all time favorite “trilogy” of episodes. They are perfect in my opinion. It’s also my birthday today, so this is a perfect present for me.
Best Episodes of the Show 1) S6/9 No way out 2) S5/1 No Santuary 3) S4/8 Too Far Gone 4) S9/15 The Calm Before 5) S3/4 Killer Within This are the best rated ones and No Santuary is defently in my top 5 too ❤️🔥❤️🔥
The blonde haired actor who gets killed first in the line-up is Robin Lord Taylor who was at this point playing the role of the Penguin in the series Gotham but without hesitation reprised his role from season 4 of the Walking Dead because he loved the show and wanted a completion to his character.
The tall guy in that container by himself was the guy they showed that ran Terminus before, when Gareth and his group were captured and kept. So they put him in the container just like he did with them. So glad you guys got the after credit scene! A lot of people say that this is their favorite episode. It has the action, the plot twists, the reunions, the reveals, etc. it’s not my personal favorite but it is very very good.
Been waiting for this episode! What an opening! Can’t wait to see the two of you sink your teeth into season 5, probably my favourite TWD reactors on here! The development of our faves this season is brilliant, I’d love to know what you think of Carol and Rick in particular, enjoy!!
"Is the Govenor here with a tank" 😂😂😂 Great reaction. Ron you amaze me with your thoughts in advance. You had an idea they were eating people. The best was Trin's emotion when they see Carol and they all meet up. When they see Judith and Sasha sees her brother 😭 priceless. If you watching this far into the show, you have developed an emotional tie to these people. It will eat your heart out at times in the future. The next chapter of their struggles is a good one and I can't wait for you to watch. Ron I just love how excited you got when you saw Morgan At the end. Eventually you guys will have to start watching Fear the walking dead because there is a cross over between the shows but you have a little time for that. Can't wait till Thurs, Ta Ta🙋
Rob and Trin, your channel is amazing! Thanks for this great content. I just love watching your walking dead reactions so much, reliving it with you guys is so enjoyable seriously, my absolute favourite reactions to watch. I love how much detail you go into and really put effort into showing your reactions to specific moments that evoke such emotion! Reliving watching these episodes makes me so nostalgic!! The walking dead is such a crazy show. So good!!!
I've watched this show for years and I've watch this episode thousands of times. I never knew that same guy from the house that carol and rick was in, in season 4 was the same guy who got his throat sliced at terminus that blows my mind actually. 😳
The watch Carol picked up at Terminus was probably the one she gave Rick when he sent her away. I just loved her one-woman battle and especially the reunion with Daryl.
Who's more deranged? Rick saying he's going to kill Gareth with that cold vacant stare or Gareth smiling back at him? Also say hi to feral rick, he'll be around for a bit
may i suggest the mini-series "Red Machete". it's the back story of the machete rick threatens Gareth with. that weapon has been on quite the adventure by the time it got to rick
I’ll never forget the night this episode aired. I was working at Chilis and had to close that night. We shut down an entire section and the whole staff was just watching this episode. I checked in my tables during commercials. I didn’t care that I made crap money, I had to see this episode.
Lol Rick's Murder Coat is iconic. Think back to how Rick looked and acted back in Season 1 and 2. Lots of changes with him.....and Shane was ahead of his time lol
Welcome to season 5, and what a start!! Cannibals and Rambo Carol. This is a cool season. Some found a couple of episodes as low, but they also lead to something. Enjoyed your reaction alot!
This was according to most, the highest rated episode of the entire series! Also the most popular! So glad you made it to my favourite season/episode of the series! ^^
I'm glad to see the reactions coming at a faster rate. This show still has so much more to offer. This is definitely a great episode. I'm excited for you two.
Rob lookin all spiffy. Really dig that sweater buddy. The “trough” scene was probably the most memorable gruesome moment of this show, next to the bloated well walker. Another great reaction guys.👍
Best episode of the entire series imo. I know some prefer 6x9 but No Sanctuary will always be my absolute favorite. It starts off so dark and ends so happy.
yeah 6x9 the best for me imo i just think this ep is for the most part just action and to the point pretty much (get the group back together and get out of terminus) don’t get me wrong i still love the episode but 6x9 is major story changes, action, big deaths, emotional, and tense the whole time
This is my top three favorite episodes of the entire series. Carol was brilliant and instantly became my top favorite characters of the show with this episode. I could not wait to see your reaction to this episode and you didn’t disappoint. I read that you are going to react to cobra Kai another favorite series of mine
Welcome to Season 5, the season closest in relation to season 2. We focus more internally on our characters, but with a twist that lacks the love of Dale. Anyhow, this is the very best season of TWD racking in 8 digits worth of audience consistently. This episode is the second highest rating episode, the best premiere, and a wonderful way to describe what this season is all about! Bravo to this masterpiece of a masterpiece!
People often say the show had a dive down but usually they're referring to later seasons like 7 onwards, I get what they mean but I still enjoyed all seasons, despite some being weaker than others. I feel like the show was always an 10/10 that sometimes drops to a 7/10 or 6/10 at its worst, but it's never fully awful or bad.
Bit of trivia with the shot of Martin’s hands around Judith’s head and neck. When it has the close up of the baby, those hands are actually the baby’s father, for obvious safety reasons.
The transition from the last episode to this first episode of season 5 is one of the best parts of the show. In fact, there was so much action, emotion and terror that I miss it today. The Sanctuary's cannibalism versus necessity and survival makes me think how human beings would not be ashamed to devour themselves, but it's a good thing that there are humans who are different from one another. Incidentally, the parallel of Rick practically eating a man's neck to save his son with the entry of cannibalism to kill hunger always looked interesting, as in fact we become monsters in limit situation and still beacon as a sacred sect.
Literally my favourite premiere of the whole show and it one of my fave Rick moments, he's so badass throughout the entire episode. He already is but this episode is just so good
Carol: "We're friends with the chick with the sword and the kid in the hat."
The theme of humans being the worst enemy of humans continues with this amazing first episode of season 5.

Happy birthday Michael 🥰
Much love from both of us.
@@robtrinreact2825 cheers thanks so much! 💚
Oooo yes. I’ve been waiting for this episode. Go Carol go!
*Rick to Carol: Just when I thought you couldn’t be anymore dead to me, you go do something like this….AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF.
Dumb and dumber reference
Best Episodes of the Show
1) S6/9 No way out
2) S5/1 No Santuary
3) S4/8 Too Far Gone
4) S9/15 The Calm Before
5) S3/4 Killer Within
This are the best rated ones and No Santuary is defently in my top 5 too ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Ah yes, the episode where Carol goes all Die Hard on Terminus. A true bad*ss unleashed.
everything you said about Carol, being Rambo and a one-man army, is true. and you're gonna find out more of that in the next seasons.
The blonde haired actor who gets killed first in the line-up is Robin Lord Taylor who was at this point playing the role of the Penguin in the series Gotham but without hesitation reprised his role from season 4 of the Walking Dead because he loved the show and wanted a completion to his character.
I get overwhelmed with joy when I see you two have uploaded a walking dead reaction. I am totally enjoying these episodes all over again!
There's a reason I told you Carol was my favorite. And you thought she was bad news. Remember that? LOL LOL
i remember the wait in between the season 4 finale and this episode it felt like 100 years
Been waiting for this episode!
It's Rob, not Ron.😉
@@Flopsi80 auto correct, ugh!
So good!!!
Carol garbed ricks watch, the one he gave to the dude with the girl when he dropped carol off.
This is Without a doubt one of the best episodes ever
Who's more deranged? Rick saying he's going to kill Gareth with that cold vacant stare or Gareth smiling back at him?
Also say hi to feral rick, he'll be around for a bit
may i suggest the mini-series "Red Machete". it's the back story of the machete rick threatens Gareth with. that weapon has been on quite the adventure by the time it got to rick
One of the BEST episodes in the entire series ...
Fantastic episode. Carol's crowning moment.
I’ll never forget the night this episode aired. I was working at Chilis and had to close that night. We shut down an entire section and the whole staff was just watching this episode. I checked in my tables during commercials. I didn’t care that I made crap money, I had to see this episode.
And get paid to watch it 😆
Lol Rick's Murder Coat is iconic.
Think back to how Rick looked and acted back in Season 1 and 2.
Lots of changes with him.....and Shane was ahead of his time lol
Yayyy! I’m so glad you stuck around for the end credits like we were suggesting! Morgan is a GOAT!
Nope, don't need no governor or a tank, cus we got Carol lol! She's so badazz.
Oh and yeah Carol for MVP for sure!
Told ya. Carol! And she's not done.
So excited for 5x4 and 5x8
I'm glad to see the reactions coming at a faster rate. This show still has so much more to offer. This is definitely a great episode. I'm excited for you two.
I absolutely love your guys' reaction to this show! It is an amazing show and you all are fantastic reactors. I can't wait for the next one too!
Rob lookin all spiffy. Really dig that sweater buddy. The “trough” scene was probably the most memorable gruesome moment of this show, next to the bloated well walker. Another great reaction guys.👍
All these years later, so many incredible episodes, but this is still my favorite.
Best episode of the entire series imo. I know some prefer 6x9 but No Sanctuary will always be my absolute favorite. It starts off so dark and ends so happy.
I actually have several 2x7, 3x4, 3x16 and many more. Actually there are only few I didn't care for
yeah 6x9 the best for me imo i just think this ep is for the most part just action and to the point pretty much (get the group back together and get out of terminus) don’t get me wrong i still love the episode but 6x9 is major story changes, action, big deaths, emotional, and tense the whole time
@@Tyler-uz1ci Don't forget implausible and completely unbelievable, but hey it is based off a comic.
One of the most bone chilling episodes of the series. I think I stopped breathing for about 15 seconds when they murdered young Eminem.
This is my top three favorite episodes of the entire series. Carol was brilliant and instantly became my top favorite characters of the show with this episode. I could not wait to see your reaction to this episode and you didn’t disappoint.
I read that you are going to react to cobra Kai another favorite series of mine
Well we did see Rick take a bite out of the claimer boss ..hahaha🧟♂
Hyped to see this, season 5 is one of my favorite. Can't wait to see y'all experience this, getting all giddy for it 😂
Welcome to Season 5, the season closest in relation to season 2.
Commentary been great as always and truly one of the greatest reaction to thus episode so far.
"...they"re recyclists...the circle of life"....I'm fucking dying😂😂😂😂
Bit of trivia with the shot of Martin’s hands around Judith’s head and neck. When it has the close up of the baby, those hands are actually the baby’s father, for obvious safety reasons.
This series is the best it’s phenomenal
The transition from the last episode to this first episode of season 5 is one of the best parts of the show. In fact, there was so much action, emotion and terror that I miss it today. The Sanctuary's cannibalism versus necessity and survival makes me think how human beings would not be ashamed to devour themselves, but it's a good thing that there are humans who are different from one another. Incidentally, the parallel of Rick practically eating a man's neck to save his son with the entry of cannibalism to kill hunger always looked interesting, as in fact we become monsters in limit situation and still beacon as a sacred sect.
4:12 I love that you said this right before Rick essentially says the same thing. Such a great scene man.
This is one of my favourite Carol moments (of many)! I'm so glad you're watching this omg
Notice how much the walker looks like andrea at 5:20, even got the handcuffs on too. Love the reacts btw
Literally my favourite premiere of the whole show and it one of my fave Rick moments, he's so badass throughout the entire episode. He already is but this episode is just so good
anyone notice the pile of teddy bears when carol found the crossbow? just imagine how they got all those.... let it sink in....
Probably one of my favorite episodes of the series. The gang are all so great in this.
