Shrek Theory: The Real Reason Puss Retired

- Опубликовано: 4 апр 2023
- Today I want to break down why Puss in Boots retired in Shrek Forever After! You see after seeing The Last Wish, I think I finally understand how our favorite fearless hero transformed into a big fluffy kitty: I believe our hero gave up his hat and boots because of Death.

That never crossed my mind before. Puss being fat and retired because he didn't want Death to get him which actually worked in an alternate timeline.
I know right/ I think it just clicks together so well
@@IsaacCarlson Can you do How To Train Your Dragon what if videos?
Also, imagine if the alt reality continued to exist after Shrek defeated Rumpel; it'd ultimately mean Puss and the Wolf would meet again, since Death would know Puss returned to being a hero and thus would go back on the hunt to reap his last life.
And buddy, if that were the case... Puss would require some exercise; as much as he's skilled and may adapt to his new form, I doubt his cat agility and speed would be comparable to how Puss was in The Last Wish, after fattening up. He'd need to lose the fat and gain back the muscle...
... or else he'd find a bad, bad ending to himself.
@@IsaacCarlson can you do how to train your dragon what if videos please?

It's neat that The Last Wish found a way to make the alternate timeline in the 4th Chapter more reasonable. Like a silent lore connection. Neat.
I completely agree. The Last Wish adds so much to the Shrek universe in a way that I haven't really felt since Shrek 2.
@@IsaacCarlson yeah, they for some reason skipped 3 when making the movies. Really strange…
Originally the Puss being retired felt like a joke but oh Boy After Last Wish came out now it feels like it makes a lot more sense
ikr
its after shrek
After the The Last Wish you sure see the whole Puss In Boots,s backstory differently
did you watch the video?
@@weswee5575 yea- infact I just rewatched the entire Shrek Series yesterday (except Shrek the third but nobody likes that one)
I always questioned why Puss was with Fiona and the Ogers despite him never meeting Shrek
My assumption has been Puss was sent to kill Fiona but instead befriended her the same way it happened when Puss was sent to kill Shrek by the king. Remember in Shrek 2 when the king was trying to hire someone to kill Shrek he was told "there's only one fella who can handle a job like that, and frankly he don't like to be disturbed." I could be wrong, but that's what I've always thought.
@@JakeFromRUclips well, it makes sense
Well Flonase dad did know of puss before Shrek did so she could've gotten his info from him
Puss in boats is an actual folk lore character from our world. He had an ability to kill orger easy.
He got his reward and got lazy and fat for no more orger to hunt.
Basic summery but it was in a old book I found years and years ago. A collection of abscure folk tales.
@@JakeFromRUclips Actually, that is quite possible, and also explains why Rumple would never have hired him before hiring the Pied Piper. Perhaps he had hired him to get Fiona (though, presumably, that deal with her parents helped free her from the tower (that's never fully explained as well why she got out despite not being rescued by her true love and also, even if her parents were somehow vanished, unless someone braved the dragon to tell her, I don't see her finding out and leaving on her own, unless she happened to be close to doing so anyway in the original timeline and may have done so had neither Shrek nor Charming made it.) ) by Rumple but she somehow got the upper hand and he did the Cute Eyes to get her to spare him and ended up in her debt and so stayed with her and became a pet kitty.
When you really think about it, Puss didn't really value his life in a way that truly mattered until he faced death.
The more Puss' character is broken down, the more it makes one of the most well written and deepest animated characters of all time.
And that makes him one of my favourite dreamworks characters a thousand times more💖
It's amazing how much story can be fit into one character.
I think one funny addition to this is that, while with Fiona it probably took years for him to get to the point he's at in the movie and because of her care he's perfectly happy about it, in last wish when the crime family goes through the town looking for him, there's not a lot that's been fixed/cleaned up. Which to me says that Puss is so over dramatic that he gave up on life and grew a beard in a few months - if not a few days - because of how much he hated being a normal, yet unpampered cat
I like to imagine that puss was only at mama luna's for maybe 2 weeks.
Honestly, that lines up
I love how you patch up holes in plots, rather than simply overlook them, as most people would, due to them being fiction.
Through my videos I definitely prioritize attempting to enhance the story for people. I really want to provide a positive point of view!
@IsaacCarlson Hey, isaac, do you think you're gonna do a video of what death was doing when other shrek villains died? I'm sure he was nearby watching.
Honestly, this is a perfect analysis on how Puss became who he was in the alternate timeline. I can't find anything that would contradict or add to any of the events.
this is after shrek
This makes sense but in a deleted scene it’s confirmed that Rumpel hired Puss to Kill the ogres, but when he saw them he felt bad, so he retired and stayed with Fiona.
Also Puss doesn’t seem miserable, like he has 1 life left, he seems content, like he has some to spare, and will spend them all pampered and being cared for.
Plus if it was Death, Shrek would never change him from meeting Mama Luna.
Edit: also in a TV Spot, it’s confirmed that that PIB 2 is 10 years after the first, so with the Shrek Movies in place, it’s 5 years after Shrek 4, which is proven by the end of the film, so Death couldn’t have because at this point in the timeline, Puss hasn’t lost all of his lives yet.
This makes me think, after he decided to side with the ogres, he got pampered after fighting for Fiona causing him to go down to his last life and Fiona understood when he said he needed to retire after a health scare with death also her being so badass and capable was probably another reason he chose to stay with her since, probably Death didn't mention he was death and just a Bounty Hunter, which would make him think she could protect him from him.
1. I really wouldn’t take deleted scenes as canon. A lot of the reasons why they’re deleted is because they don’t fit in the movie
2. The reason why Puss seems more content with Fiona then Mama Luna is because Fiona actually took great care of Puss. With Mama Luna he was very restricted and was force to eat the same dry kibble crap and used a Litterbox that was already used. I’m sure with Fiona he had more freedom while also being pampered
@@Lightning-gg5iu most deleted scenes are cut for time, not continuity though
@@SilverSnook7966 I thought something similar, like he may have even helped train her after they tested up. Fiona knew how to fight, but it was all hand-to-hand but in the altered timeline she knows several weapons. Of course if he thought Lobo was just a bounty hunter like in The Last Wish, then the scare was enough to make him realize it's time to retire, the Death had no reason to reveal the truth to him. But Puss may not realize he's on his last life, the doctor had to spell it out for him when he thought he still had four or so left.
Not if Fiona adopted him from the sanctuary
So Puss in Boots The Last Wish covered up a plot in Forever After that made it better. That’s impressive
no. this is after shrek
I actually like this interpretation, it brings a nice wholesome twist to this darker and more violent alternate world
I accept this as canon unless Dreamworks says otherwise. That makes Shrek Forever After hit differently.
ythis is after shrek
I don't think he had a brush with Death, I think meeting Shrek kick started him seeking more bigger and dangerous thrills and after Shrek when he had a family Puss went his separate ways and became bigger than he was before. However since he never met Shrek and instead Fiona instead of thrill he got comfort so it's more like he was never pushed to be come that legend. I always thought this was one of those "what if they never met" scenario's where you realize how much of an impact someone had on your life.
It is also possible that Puss lost his remaining lives when he was ogre hunting, encountered death, then let himself get captured by Fiona’s Ogre army, asking for protection.
But I do agree that Puss could have just saw the opportunity of getting pampered and took that instead of continuing his bounty hunting work
So many rivers leading to the same lake
If we look at the Shrek timeline he was already a legend and likely died six times before meeting Shrek and Donkey in Shrek 2. So his life would’ve pretty much been the same but once he was down to his last life, I think he was content with retiring after meeting Death and Fiona pampering him.
@@Christopher_Woods I have to disagree, just because on his seventh death we seem him with Gingy doesn't mean that's his first time meeting him. He could've came back for something and just happened to reunite with him.
If we take his first movie Puss in Boots we have his whole story from beginning to end so while he was a bounty hunter then is when he met Shrek and now that he has cleared his name in his hometown he is basically having fun being him. In fact if we look at how he died he was mainly messing around being careless and nothing to do with bounty hunting so it's safe to assume that these deaths took place after Shrek rather than before.
@@10RexTheWolf01 It really depends. I feel like he was enjoying himself as a legend even before he met Shrek which is why he never committed to marrying Kitty. I bet after that is when he left SpaIn and wanted to add to his legend by hunting down ogres.
The alternate timeline happens at the same time as the main timeline in Shrek 4
So if Death confronted Puss in Rumple's timeline too, he must have gotten to his last life sooner than the main timeline.
It would make sense honestly. Not only is this Far Far Away more chaotic and dangerous, but Puss lived a few comfortable years with Shrek and Friends. Without this chance meeting, he'd have kept going with his reckless lifestyle.
It would make sense. He probably burned through his lives faster. After his encounter with Death he probably retired his sword and was content with being a lap cat.
this is after shrek 4
@@reggielacey2235 Yes it is but maybe without Shrek and Puss being an ogre bounty Hunter, he probably burned through his lives faster in this timeline cause I wouldn’t be shocked here if he got killed by an ogre at least once.
The only real wrench that can be thrown into this theory is that "Puss In Boots: The Last Wish" takes place after the fourth Shrek movie, and Shrek isn't transported to the future when he sign Rumpell's contract, he's just taken to the present in an alternate timeline. At the same time if Shrek never existed Puss could have burned through all of his lives a lot sooner (and even in different ways since he couldn't have died baking with Gingy) and that's why he retired earlier.
It is possible that Puss burned through his last lives when ogre hunting for Rumpell
@@typemasters2871 It's possible...
I think it depends on how long he went without dying when meeting Shrek. I’m sure having companions like Shrek and Donkey let him live one of his lives a lot longer
Also keep in mind the first Puss in Boots takes place before Shrek 2 and I think he already died six times before he became an ogre bounty hunter. So it’s possible he burned through his lives sooner and possibly killed by ogres in one of his eight deaths. I bet it was after being on his last life and seeing how ogres aren’t so bad is why he grew fond of Fiona. The sane can be said for Fiona cause she’s still living her life with the curse and it seems no one knew about it but Shrek and Puss. Puss was the only one who really kept Fiona sane.
With how Rumpell is shown destabilising the land for his own benefit and being a really, really bad ruller. And with how his forces terrorised or captured other mythical creatures for fun and per order. And with the spread of blood sports. And with how usurpation of the throne still probably didn't come easily after the disappearance of the King and Queen, considering that they had a living heiress, whose curse wouldn't have prevented her from ruling at least as a monarch, so we can expect a civil war. And I'm not even counting in the Fairy grandmother, who basically had previously arranged herself a place under the sun, and would not like wrenches thrown into her plans. So she would probably try to take over too.
So, during Rumpell's ascention and rule, it would have been the easiest for the puss in boots to lose lives.
Great video. Funny now that you mentioned, because after rewatching the whole Shrek I noticed how Puss is different in Forever After (and I'm not talking about his belly.) We see that he is closer to Fiona and willing to help Shrek, which is a contrast to suggesting ran to open sea with mojitos to go fishing after Shrek finding about Fiona's pregnancy. It prettymuch shows despite how close Puss is with Shrek, Donkey and Fiona, he always keeps a distance from them. And this might be a bit stretch, but I also think to Puss, Fiona probably reminds her Mama Imelda.
I said the same thing. It’s very possible that Fiona reminded Puss of his mother Imelda which is why he loved being with Fiona.
That would be touching if there was a moment in Shrek 5 where Puss displays his vulnerability to the others and Puss opens up how much Fiona reminded him of his mom.
What do you think the dark forest would look like if Jack horner or some other villian held the map
Fun to think about, I guess Jack Horner would have something like: "The Abyss of Greed" "Waterfalls of Jealousy" and "The Bad Mindset Minefields"
@@aaronottermann5824all of those names sound like they could have been in the movie, great job
While Death wasn’t created when _Shrek Forever After_ came out, I say you hit the nail on the coffin with your theory on why Puss became fat just to avoid having Death get to him.
nice choice of words
On the other hand, he'd be slower and possibly less healthy, so who knows? Little lap potato.
Makes you wonder if Death was there for the other villain deaths.
Pretty sure Regardless Death was always there during the Shrek movies, he just doesn't appear to anyone because he had no reason to do so. He only appeared in the last wish because Puss mocked him when he hears "Puss laughs at the face of death" so obviously he has his own reason to appear to puss.
@@BanishedSilentShadow3318 yup, I think Death usually just kills without showing himself.
But for Puss, it makes sense for what you said. Makes sense that he would appear to Puss.
I mean, it was a puss in a different universe/timeline , but maybe he somehow escaped death in that timeline in a different way
Yeah possibly in a reality where perrito did drown.
Rumple was a ruthless ruler killing his own witch army if they fail him so it likely more deaths where happening though out far far away death having a lot more work to do probably put his pettiness for puss aside
I always assumed that puss just loved the feeling of being groomed and fed with no worries , which is why he stayed with fionna , he have seen him admiring the gift and attention other give to him
I have a cat that is identical to the Puss. He has the same color, same demeanour, he is cunning and adventures, fighting other male cats and chasing females, its just like im watching a Puss in Boots 😂. To top it all off, i have a picture of him when he was a young kitten when he entered inside the boot, im not kidding, he made me burst out of laughter. Just such a funny little critter 😂
So Garfield is actually an alternate retired version of Puss in Boots?
I love that because I was not a fan of chubby puss a character who lived for heroics just retiring but it makes sense now that puss in boots two exist
I bet you're excited more any of us Shrek that we are getting a Shrek 5 and even a also Donkey movie. Donkey getting a movie is long overdue since the first Puss in Boots movie.
Honestly if a similar team was brought together to put on a Donkey movie that could be similar to The Last Wish, I would absolutely be open to the idea!
I wonder if they’d make a Donkey movie a prequel to the Shrek films. It would be cool if Donkey did have his own group of fairy tale friends before they all got captured by Farquaad. It could also go into detail as to why Donkey never had issues with ogres.
Puss in Boots 2 was so good, it makes the rest of the franchise better in retrospect!!!
The real question is what happened to Farquaad in the new timeline. Dude was on a fairy tale crusade
Or the crusade fall on him! Most likely would've been devoured by ogres!
Hey Isaac, I love your videos. I wondered what your thoughts were on Kitty Soft Paws saying she didn't show up to the altar. I feel like she did show up and lied about it to Puss. I don't know, was just curious what your opinion on that is. Thank you for another wonderful video!
It really seems like The Last Wish does connect the dots as to why Puss retired in the alternate timeline in Forever After. If we go by the Shrek timeline, where the events of the first Puss in Boots are before Shrek 2, I think Puss has already lost six lives by the time he met Shrek so him wasting his lives away would’ve happened whether or not he met Shrek.
The part you said about Puss not Fiona finding their true love makes sense since I think Puss leaving Kitty in Santa Coloma was right before Puss set sail to Far Far Away and became a bounty hunter.
Puss seemed content with retirement cause like you said, he was being pampered by Fiona instead in a deep state of depression thinking about Death and in a miserable home like Mama Luna.
Whenever a 5th Shrek comes out, it would be cool if Puss and Fiona did have a touching moment like to say that Fiona reminded Puss a lot of his own mother Imelda back in San Ricardo.
Even though Shrek should be the main character in his own film (Shrek 5), I don’t want to see Puss go back to being a comedic sidekick after being given this much characterisation and depth by Last Wish. It would be nice if his journey from Last Wish and new perspective on life continued into Shrek 5 and isn’t pushed to the back but at the same time doesn’t overshadow Shrek. Maybe Shrek could run into some anxiety of his own and Puss can give him some reassuring advice (which would make up for his poor advice in Shrek the Third lol).
In a 5th Shrek, I can definitely see them pushing Puss’ screen time up and potentially making him a deuteragonist. I think Shrek’s personality could depend on the time jump between Forever After and Shrek 5. I think it could be about 5-10 years. Puss taking Perrito’s advice definitely adds another layer to his character. I feel like one flaw that the 3rd and 4th film had was they only focused on Shrek and didn’t give the side characters much character development.
I very much agree!
Actually, at least one of Puss's deaths was with Gingy and involved an oven. Presumably if he'd never met Shrek, that death would have never happened. Which means that he well could have been on life #7 which would meant that he wouldn't have been in hiding from Death yet. However, he may still have gone after the Last Wish here, being hired by the Goldilocks and the Three Bears Crime family. Now, without Perrito, it's possible that he lost at least one life (possibly all of them) trying to get to the Star, but assuming he can get there ahead of Horner and that Goldilocks doesn't take the wish for herself, Puss may have wished for something, though we don't know what. It's unknown if he'd have wished for all of his nine lives back.
There is also the possibility that, with him NOT going into retirement, that he could somehow have not been there at all to cross paths with Goldilocks and the Three Bears crime family or NOT been desperate enough to attack theft from Jack Horner. If that's the case, then it's possible Jack Horner got the Last Wish and took all the magic in the universe. That would actually lead to a power struggle between Rumple and Jack Horner.
Also, Shrek Forever After also left out Faarquad, Fairy Godmother, and Prince Charming, all of whom, likely (maybe Dragon got Charming, who knows) didn't die in a universe where Shrek was never born, would fare in a possible power struggle with Rumple. While Faarquad likely wouldn't bother (he mainly cared about Duloc and going after Fairy Tales, though maybe Rumple would eventually find himself a target, maybe, as we don't know how close his trailer park was to Duloc) but the more likely threat to Rumple would be Fairy Godmother and Charming, who would want Charming to be king of Far Far Away and would be as upset with Rumple taking over as they were with Shrek in the original timeline.
It's also unknown how Puss and Fiona would have crossed paths in the first place in the alternate universe. Puss may have been for hire at the time as an assassin but without king harold having hired him to go after Shrek, I don't even see how Fiona and the feline would even end up together. Now, it's possible that a desperate Fiona may have hired him to join her cause, and he may have eventually let himself go, but that's quite a long shot.
This reminds me of Thor and how he got fat.
It's funny seeing this today because I just watched the Shrek 4 a couple of days ago and then the Last Wish a week ago, and I remember having pretty much the exact same thoughts
I wonder if the being fat affected his confidence so Death didn't care about coming after him anymore.
Death usually only came when Puss was in a near death situation so he probably didn’t go after him once he changed his life to being a lap cat.
It’s amazing how The Last Wish really has recontextualized Puss’ entire character
The wolf looks like a kunfu Panda villain I wonder if he originally was going to be
He looks like he could have been an alternative design or version of kai
This is actually an awesome theory, and makes me love Puss in boots 2 and Shrek 4 even more
The Last Wish and Forever After are my two favorite movies in the Shrek franchise
Out of all your deep dives I’ve gotta say this one right here I loved the most ❤
your videos are amazing! Keep them coming!
Will do! I'm so happy people like you watch and enjoy them! Thank you!
The problem with this, is that everything after the original Puss in Boots movie but before the Last Wish wouldn’t have happened because of Shrek. Up until Shrek 2, we can assume after the Santa Clomona incident, Puss in Boots decided to exile himself from his loved ones and decided to move continents. There, he becomes an Ogre Killer. Killing ogres so he could get his money to fulfill his depression state. Until King Harold hired him to kill Shrek, only to later get beaten by Shrek, who doesn’t kill him, thus realizing that Shrek is… like him, an outcast. And so, after seeing the error of his ways, Puss joins Shrek and Donkey on their quest to find the Fairy Godmother… not only to find new a family to fill his empty void, but also seeking for redemption, after what he’s done.
If Shrek wasn’t born, Puss would’ve given up on his Ogre Killer life by the time Fiona’s Resistance found him. So he just gives up being a legend all together so he can live depressingly.
I haven’t watched one of your videos in a very long time now but they are clearly still as good & entertaining as ever! ❤🎉
Great work as usual
I've researched the scene of Puss being fat and yes the dialogue definitely ties in with the Death existing on the alternate timeline too.
This really re-contextualises Fiona and Puss’ relationship in Forever After, excellent video!
Please make a video about why the puss in boots character named Big Jack Horner is the way that he is and how his wish would end up destroying the world if his wish came true and what kind of impact his wish would have on all the magic the whole shrek world and how it would affect the characters of the world of shrek if Big Jack Horner’s wish came true please
Plus in the alternative world death was probably a-lot busier due to rumple being a ruthless ruler that willing killed his own army is they failed him.
I think the reason why puss retires in far far away land instead of the other island, that he was on in the last wish,is because in this timeline he had never met Shrek. it’s similar to the butterfly effect, where changing or altering something in the past can change the present drastically regardless of how small. Maybe because he had never befriended him he never suddenly got the urge to sail away and have an adventure somewhere else. his life takes a normal course. However, he loses his eighth life on far far away land, which is why he decides to retire there as he meets death, and the rest is history. it’s similar to how the flap of a butterflies wing on one side of the world causes a hurricane on the other.(but, this is just my theory what do you all think?)
Holy crap, I NEVER thought about this!! 🤯🤯
This is an awesome theory! While it may not be true when Shrek Forever After came out, it would make a fantastic retcon!
GREAT VIDEO
Thank you for posting the video about Puss in Boots in "Shrek Forever After" in the alter timeline.
grate theory didn't think of it that way but it makes sense
Hey Isaac, since Inside Out 2 is coming next year, can you do a prediction type of theory on the 23 or 29 emotions that the sequel will have by then?
Nice background music, did you create the jazz version of “Fearless Hero” from the second Puss in Boots movie?
Here is a theory maybe in the alternet timeline he did find piero and a wish but in the end he wish was so selfiess that he wish was to find someone who took care of him well and thats how he meet fiona
Can you make video about why charming prince didnt rescue fiona in alternate timeline?
I was always wondering why Puss retired in the alternate timeline. Thanks for sharing your theory!
Goddamn that actually makes a lot of sense
You know you should do a ‘who is’ series on the members of sing and sing 2 that would be a banger vid(s)
Hey Isaac Carlson please do the full story of Giselle from Enchanted 👸🏻.
At least this video does explain why the parallel timeline doesn't have Puss still working as a bounty hunter the fact that he was on his last life and just thought that it was just too dangerous to continue being a bounty hunter
theory to go with yours: when he was down to 2nd to last life. Rumpelstiltskin hired him to kill Fiona. during their first meeting...Puss loses a life. then the realization of he is down to last life happens like in the last wish. fiona feels sorry for him and takes him as a pet. fiona seemed to know Puss' past exploits so she had to know him prior
I do believe Puss was a bounty hunter for Rumpel before Fiona took him in. I bet while fighting ogres he lost his 8th life and had an encounter with Death. Afterwards he had second thoughts on what to do and where would he go if he retired. Once he met Fiona, he saw that ogres aren’t so bad after all. Puss was fine with retirement since Fiona pampered him. Puss was likely eating more than cat kibble and not peeing in a dirty litter box.
@@Christopher_Woods it wouldnt be a stretch he met fiona trying to kill her. we first meet him as he is hired to kill shrek. someone trying to deal with an ogre problem. not saying fiona killed him. but he lost a life during the task. maybe he was tasked in killer her as she was locked away in the tower. so dragon killed him. the distraction caused her to be able to escape. she was never able to leave because of dragon. she only did with help and a distraction. she met up with puss afterwards.
4:19 Thats the best villian smile ever 😂
I called this!!! I called this Theory!!!! Thank You very much!!!!
Honestly...
The saddest thing about that video is that that alternate version of Puss in Boots no longer exists due to Shrek and Fionna's kiss, while Shrek returns to his original line, that alternate line... the ogres, fiona, donkey even Puss in boots... will no longer exist.
Yes... sad fact, right?
Thank For The Video 🙊🤯🥰💕😍👍🥇🏆
Do this for httyd how all species and populations of dragons returned to the hidden world and lived under toothlesses rule
At the end of the Puss in Boots movie (spoilers ahead)
He goes to Shrek Island, so Shrek is the reason he doesn’t retire to avoid death, which means some sort of interaction between the Puss in Boots cast and the Shrek cast directly impacts puss s relationship with death maybe some sort of third Puss in Boots movie or new Shrek movie but I guarantee you, if either of these get made death will be making a return because Shrek being there basically means and causes the entire lesson of the last wish to be voided I suddenly puss would treat death as he used to instead of respecting it, and then again, the fact that he purposively gives up his dignity in the ultimate timeline, suggests AniNate, fear of death and meeting Shrek keeps this understanding that death is inevitable and a part of life as a thing by not interacting with Shrek in the ultimate timeline. Somehow, this conclusion breaks down, meaning Shrek is the reason it doesn’t…
Shrek is love Shrek, is life truly given form
Request: Why Mario's Family mean to him at the dinner table, The Super Mario Bros. Movie Theory.
Now I’m wondering what happened to the other Puss in Boots characters. Did Perito ever become a therapy dog or was he just stuck in the cat house? What about San Ricardo? Did Humpty manage to even get to the golden goose? What is Kitty Softpaws doing? What is going on with the pie empire? So many questions, and no answers in site.
Theory: This is an au that was created when Shrek signed a magical piece of paper. I wonder if they’ll ever make a movie to explain this.
This theory makes sense, cause if you think what death told Puss... Specifically, Death hated how Puss wasted his lives like that, treating them as a joke. I mean, the whole point was for him.to realise how important is life in general.
After they fought and he saw that Puss was ready to fight becuase he had found the true meaning in his last life, he left him be.
So I think, that after Puss met Fiona and became her friend...he started to enjoy life. Instead of wasting away with silly dares, he advised and comforter Fiona...bonded with her. At the same time, he found the joys of caring for others and not just yourself and of course the joys of life. He enjoyed how he was groomed and well fed and looked after.
I think this is why it makes sense, this theory in the video. And why Death never came for Puss. If he wanted to find him, he would. I mean he showed up at the sight of the fallen star out of the blue.
Death doesn’t like seeing others waste their lives which is why he elected not to target Puss when bonding with Fiona.
In a way, that’s Death’s way of saying, even if he’s not a legend he’s still finding a new way to enjoy his last life.
The first time where shrek met puss was when puss was paid by Fiona’s father named Harold to have puss fight against shrek
I don’t think it’s that deep. They did not write the script of Shrek forever after with the script of last wish in mind.
Probably not but it’s a nice thing to add since it has never been explained why he retired and lived with Fiona and the ogre army.
Funny enough, I wonder if Death would’ve come after Shrek because the ogre started taking his life for granted in the fourth movie?
Shrek likely has to be in a near Death situation for that to happen.
@@Christopher_Woods Like when his time in Rumpelstiltskin’s reality ended?
@@calvinfujii5921 Probably. Would be cool if we heard his whistle in the background when a character dies in Shrek 5. Would be a nice Easter Egg.
@@Christopher_Woods maybe whenever the final villain dies or an ally the wind blows but the wind plays the same notes as the whistles
@@sideways_chip_eater6420 I can actually see DreamWorks doing that.
Judging by the title alone.
Why did Puss get fat?
Big Bad Wolf: IT WAS ME BARRY!
Kinda makes you wonder though. Would Death still remember Puss? I mean In the alternate timeline , he did retire yet after True Loves Kiss, that world was erased. Soooo did Death remember threatening Puss in the alternate Timeline?
Yes, yes he does, for he is death.
Puss in Shrek's timeline just stayed around with Shrek and family as a house cat though so Death never came.
Brother bear and Hercules have same after life of going around in circles. And is the goddess Styx the True lord of the dead sense In the river
I wonder if the alternate timeline kept going, would Puss eventually confront Death?
Most of his legendary life was likely before Shrek 2 so Puss was always seeking adventure whether he met Shrek or not. Quite possible Puss burned through his lives a bit slower during his time in Far Far Away. I bet Rumpelstiltskin hired him to be an ogre assassin. Once Puss was down to his last life, he probably had the encounter with Death and maybe saw a miserable Fiona. That’s how they crossed paths and Puss had second thoughts on ogres being the bad guys.
I like to think that due to the lack of shrek, Puss actually took a different a DIFERENT bounty… instead of the Bounty on shrek, that’s how he lost his 7th life in the alt timeline
Puss always retires, regardless of timeline, his last 4 lives end diferently though
If the timeline doesn’t have the ogre couple or mama Luna/perito, he dies in the first encounter with Death
What I think is without shrek to reing him in he burned through his lives faster in far far away and didn't learn about the wishing star, so he met death and ran into Fiona in her human form, and learned about her curse so she took him in
Maybe you should explain the Great Spirits in Brother Bear
I agree to why Puss retired in Shrek Foreever After would be the shame as in the last wish.
Please make a video about Megara & Galatea from Hercules/The Series
Puss meets Death after the fourth Shrek movie.
Way to pay attention
but that would mean Puss got down to his last life quicker in the forever after timeline than in the actual timeline. since it's assumed that the change of timeline continues at the same time as the timeline was that Shrek left, and Puss couldn't have been on his last life yet at the triplets' birthday (evident by the fact that Perito and Kitty aren't there too). which means that in a timeline without Shrek, Puss would've been more careless?
He very well could’ve been since Puss abandoning Kitty most likely took place before Shrek 2. That us likely around when he made his quest to Far Far Away and to make himself a bigger legend by being an ogre bounty hunter. I don’t think knowing his personality, he’d pass up on that opportunity especially knowing he’s not an outlaw in Far Far Away.
Really makes me wonder what Shrek forever after would be like if Death was there not for puss but Shrek himself after signing away his existence. I can imagine he would be some random guy who is Shrek bumps into every now and then and nobody but Shrek can see him I think that'll would make for an interesting video
If Puss retired by getting with Fiona, it seemed like he grew into the life of being pampered.
I hope the new Shrek movie is just as good
What if Prince Charming arrived on Time?
Maybe he did and Fiona saw his true colours.
Would seem likely, the dude isn’t exactly as suave and elegant as he thinks.
Princess Fiona disappears from her tower inevitably no matter what Prince Charming does.
And since, Fiona's mother and father was spirited away by Rumpelstiltskin, there's no way they can contact Fairy Godmother.
You should make a magica de spell from. Ducktales 2017 story
Either way, Death would find him through Diabetes and Cholesterol. 😆
Oh my gosh oh my goodness
Hey Issac Carlson can you please do more how to train your dragon and dragons the nine realms videos and dragon biology videos
this theory have sense, i didn't think on that
I bet this is more coincidence if anything but if they actually planned for this all the way back then, I'd be mindblown
that honestly makes it better
I thought that forever after was a dream that Shrek had while watching the cake
Straight. Up.
I just hope there is more to the puss in boots story before the voice actors are down to their last life.
Can you do a full explanation of Illumination's Super Mario Bros. Movie?
here is a theory why puss letting himself go in a world without shrek
i believe he was still hunted and felt guilty for trusting humpty dumpty when he and puss himself robbed a bank, humpty betrayed and lied to puss. and then everyone from san ricardo still looking for him. so he decides to let his pride and his heroic self behind him and did not wanna be puss in boots anymore. then that is how puss ends up meeting fiona and the resistance. he is being pampered and fed by fiona for years. humpty dumpty and his crew including kitty soft paw forgot about him. that is until rumple rule over san ricardo, rumple arrested humpty and his crew that he is associate with him as accomplices and rumple bribe the commandate that humpty is the one who robbed the san ricardo bank and then rumple gave the comadante the deal of a life time, then he is erased from existence, humpty is now devastated and failed to hunt down puss, his egg shell head cracked like he has a scar. puss' mother. i don't know if she is alive or probably died during rumple's rule
then kitty is now a free agent and she went out on her own and steal some richest and sometimes she gives her to the poor. kitty probably cares for the people because she felt something in her that she probably has a tragic past.
