I saw a thing on Reddit where some guy's kid did a DNA test and that kid had a different father so they did DNA tests on the rest of his kids and turns out that they all had different fathers, like it wasnt even the same guy it was 5 different fathers and that the mom had been cheating over the course of 40 years of marriage... that really sucks...

I saw that one too. Three sons, if I recall, and either 2, or all 3, fathered by the wife's long time lover. So either the man was sterile or he never got any because... what are the chances of not even 1 being of your seed? That's depressing. The sons seemed devoted to the man that raised them.

I actually have a lot of positives after taking both AncestryDNA & 23&Me. Growing up my Dads side of the family has always denied my twin half brothers. Saying their mother cheated on my Dad (she did, a lot) & they couldn’t possibly be his sons. After checking one afternoon I saw my brothers name as a “close relative” my Dad called 2 days later yelling “I knew it! My boys are my boys!” And I of course took to Facebook to yell that too! My grandmother denied them but still cared for them, she passed away years before this discovery, otherwise I would have called her up & told her myself😊

I am proud to say I have the brother I always prayed for and he’s an AMAZING young man despite being another black boy who grew up without a father 🥲❤️. Thank you God!

My DNA test came back basically saying, "Congrats, you are white." That wasn't a surprise. 8 hours later my surprise came. I had been adopted in a closed adoption, which I already knew. What I didn't expect was that I'd match with a 2nd cousin. She reached out to link our genealogy and I told her I'd been adopted and what I knew. She said she'd, "Do some research," but she already knew who I was. She was asking consent from my grandparents and mother. A few minutes later my grandfather tagged me on Facebook, one of my sisters I never knew about messaged me, and I was on the phone with my bio mom. They had all been searching for me for 39 years. Turns out I have a giant family.

I once saw a fantastic programme on TV here in the Uk that featured a load of people who identified as ‘white’ or ‘Anglo Saxon’ and were all quite racist and anti immigration. They all had their DNA tested and the results were hilarious. They all turned out to have African, Chinese or East European blood! I loved it because they all had to rearrange their prejudices. It was priceless to watch. I lived for 12 years in South Africa during Apartheid and I learned an important lesson: it doesn’t matter what colour or religion you are, or how much money you have. The only important thing is how you behave. There are really only two types of human: Good or Bad. It’s up to us to choose which one we are going to be.

    • @Nyghtking

Yup, it's possible to have both your parents white and come out black due to having African ancestry, it's rare but it does occasionally happen, it's also possible for the opposite to happen where you have both black parents and you came out white. Really awkward at the moment in those situations I would assume.

Then he took a DNA test. Turns out I was wrong. He's 22% Sub Saharan African. He was suicidal for weeks. His entire universe and way of thinking depended on him being pure. He actually threatened to have the CEO of the DNA testing facility arrested and charged with fraud for falsifying his results. He was that upset. After repeating the test two more times with two other companies and getting similar results, six months later he finally accepted the results. Unfortunately his racism hasn't really diminished that much. It's just change a little.

Which explains alot (like why I am a foot shorter than all 4 of my brothers) and why my father treated me so differently. I think he suspected the whole time.
My brothers have all been in jail, they are all being chased for unpaid child support and are in active addiction, I have served in the army, finished two degrees, have been with my kids everyday of their lives, all despite being raised in the same environment. DNA could be a VERY big deal.

What we are is a combination of Nature and Nurture. Losers like to say that their problems are "All society's fault" and not their own doing. That's why they're losers, largely a result of not taking responsibility for their own actions.

My grandma was raped and actually kept the child from a resulting pregnancy. He is my uncle and he's the only sane one of all his siblings. The rest all have mental illness, some very major. People in the past assumed if you were born with some sort of defect or illness or whatever that it was the sins of your parents being manifest on you. Obviously that's not true. Good people can come from bad, healthy people can produce unhealthy people. Sure there are similarities with genes and physical appearance. However nothings predetermined. The kids of a serial killer can grow up and choose not to make the same choices. That's why it was so dumb that girl broke up with that guy over his ancestry.

I was 28 when I found out my Dad had actually adopted me! My parents are STILL, 13 years later, mad that I found out! They were NEVER going to tell me. AND, growing up it was always a joke amongst family and friends that I was adopted because I was the only one in the family with red hair and I look nothing like my parents. Low and behold, the entire family had always known and NO ONE thought to fill me in!
*EDIT: THANK YOU SO MUCH* for all the support and love! To answer a few things, I found the papers when my parents specifically asked my sister and I to clean out a section of their home. Upon asking my parents for the truth at that time, papers in hand, they tried to keep up the lie. They're mad at because I _did_ find the papers (again, in an area I was asked to clean and organize). I think that everyone has a right to know where they come from. I'm not ashamed of being adopted, my parents did the very best they could with us, for this I LOVE them greatly, and my Dad will FOREVER continue to be my Dad!

She said “Stephen? Who the hell is that?” I said “uhhh your brother...” oops that didn’t go well. I’m about 5 yrs older of my cousin. I've got a weird one. It wasn't so much a secret, and it wasn't biological incest, but also I had never heard the story and only figured it out while working hard on my family tree, digging through all sorts of records. I hope you can follow it... So, a certain set of great-grandparents had a couple of sons, but the mother died young. The father found a new, younger wife (my great grandmother), and they had several children together (including my grandmother). So, my grandma grew up with a bunch of siblings, including two older half-brothers. Then the father died. Now my grandma's dad was gone, her mom was still around, and the siblings. They decided to move to a different country. One of my grandma's older half-brothers ended up marrying my grandma's mom. They actually weren't too far apart in age from each other. So, he married his step-mom. Thankfully they weren't blood related, but the whole situation is still weird. They never had kids (as far as I know). So, there was a man who was both my great-uncle (grandma's brother) and (step-) great-grandfather (great-grandmother's husband) at the same time.

I know these stories all too well. My mother in law bought me one for Christmas. I got the results back the same day that my dentist told me that I have a rare shaped tooth canal found only in Asians and some Native Americans. My mom told me that we were part NA. I had always felt different than my family because I am brown and everyone else is white but my mom assured me that I am my father's son. I mean, there had been times that I drunkenly called her demanding the truth but she stood her ground. I got the results back after I came home from the dentist and staring back at me my results said that I am half South East Asian. Fucking half? Lets see here mom...you are white....dad is white...neither are Asian so....yeah. I called her with this new evidence and she tried to make me feel bad for some reason by playing the whole, "WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY? I WAS A FAITHFUL WIFE!!" Yeah...no mom, the results don't lie. She finally gave in and that day I found out I have a different biological dad than I thought. I killed me, knowing my Dad wasn't my bio Dad. But I called him and told him. He said, "Damn...and here I thought you were Mexican." He knew the whole time but still raised me as his. So...it isn't a bad story, mine. I learned how deep love can be. My father chose me. He wasn't obligated to be my father but he chose to be my father. I have never felt more proud to be his son. My mom and I are on good terms and I am closer to my Dad. I did eventually find my biological Dad when his brother took a DNA test. My Bio Dad is equally kick ass. He was floored the night I finally got to talk to him. Earlier that day he was a single man with no kids, wishing he had kids and bam...he is now a Grandfather. I met him 2 months after my Biological Grandmother had passed away. On her death bed she told him to have a son. He said it would be impossible since he wasn't exactly at a point in his life to have a child. But she told him to do it anyway.

One of my cousins told me around 5 years ago that his older brother was actually his half brother. He came into the family after his mom married my blood-related uncle (Older brother had a different father). For the longest time I thought he was my biological cousin until the younger brother told me the truth. He asked me "Why do you think he was never around when we were kids?" I countered him saying, "I wouldn't have cared because I thought he was always an awesome guy. I wish he spent more time with us!"
In my opinion, blood-relations don't matter as much, but what does matter are the emotional bonds people share and nurture with each other.

Through the 1990s I had a friend who was the son of a single mother. He had a receding hairline from his twenties and figuring it was from his unknown father's side it made him extra curious to know who his father was. He was light-hearted about it, saying, 'I want to ask him why he gave me such a poor memento.' His mother had always refused to tell him who his father was and then she got some sort of early onset dementia and could remember nothing anyway. I lost touch with him over the years but wonder if he's done a DNA test to go further in his search than was possible back in the 90s.

For years I knew I was adopted, and started looking for birth family before DNA kits became a thing. After the DNA kits became public, I took one of those tests, and found out my birth mothers family, I was happy that it was that family reached out to me first. to welcome me to the family, and that were looking for me. I do keep in touch with them, and half two half brothers, both younger than me. now will continue to look for birth father, I think this year (2022) I will find that side of my family. Taking that DNA test is one of the best things I have done.

She said I was a close cousin and that she did not know who her father was, but that he was either my uncle or the child of one of my uncles. This brought a huge sigh of relief when the father turned out to be my cousin and not my long married uncle. No affairs were involved and dad and daughter were able to reconnect.
