Rachmaninov’s full Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini is a 24-minute long piece for piano and orchestra; this short video obviously just showed the very end of the piece. The piece is in Theme and Variations form. It is based on the theme from Nicolo Paganini’s 24th (and last) of his Caprices for Solo Violin. The piece consists of 24 different variations on this theme. The 18th variation is particularly romantic and beautiful, in my opinion.
