Lanegan got me through a lot starting around 1990. Never realized what a fucking beast Grohl was until now though. In total this lineup is beyond legendary.
Same. I knew Kyuss and was a big grunge fan but this gig changed my life. I was more curious because of Josh’s kyuss background. Also Dave was amazing on drums. I think Rhcp headlined there too that year.
@@berthaschwarze6704 It was Joey Castillo on drums but Nick Oliveri was still in the band. I didn't even know who Mark was until my friend told me he used to be in Screaming trees. I hadn't been much of a music fan until about 2000 so i was still learning about bands.
Never realized what a super cool front man Lanegan was until recently. The way he just stands there; totally bad-ass. He never really grabbed my attention back in the day, mostly because the Trees didn’t do it for me; but I see now why he had such a giant reputation. He was a legit artist who knew what he was doing and treated the craft of singing and writing with dignity and respect. Lanegan Awww man his voice jus haunting here i love it. Makes me think of his best friend up there with him woulda been siiiic!!! Mr Layne STALEY jus passed couple months be4 this show. STALEY and LANEGAN 2 best voices ever
Holy shit your right. I only just realised how long ago this was, I mean I saw the date but when I read your comment it finally twigged that this was around then. Poor Mark
Mark The Jedi Lanegan. This is my favorite performance from him of all time, even more than all the Screaming Trees records. RIP to the man, the myth, the voice. We didnt Nearly Lost You… we Really Lost You 🙏🏼❤️🖕🏼🖕🏼
I can listen to this over and over and over. Mark and Dave absolutely NAILED it. And it goes without saying what Josh and the fellows did. I didn't know while I was living that Era that grunge and some of the other bands around that Era was going to b the last of real musicians, for the most part. Are there not any younger people getting into music and starting real bands anymore?
Sorry to all fans, I just learned about Lanegan, what a voice!!! Sad to learn his gone! Sounds a bit like Morrison but still got his own thing! Been listening to many different tunes since last night. Golden vocal cords!
Seen them touring Glasgow about this time. Mark was the highlight of the night, wandering on stage looking like a lost roadie and that voice just comes out of him like it was nothing. What a voice.
I seriously think this is one of the greatest vocal performances I’ve ever seen. Imagine standing there; with Dave Grohl at his most intense since- and Josh Homme, Nick O and Troy raining the hammer of the gods of thunder behind you - and you’re the eye of the hurricane channeling it all and slaying it with that pissed off Irish scrapper face haha. The way he growls ‘ if you’re hanging arounnnnd ‘ -/ Unbelievable. Hats off Mark Lanegan .
another powerful voice that leaves us.
R.I.P Lanegan

Only through reading his biography I knew that he was clean at the time of that tour.

This was the best era of QOTSA!
This is an excellent recording. Great seeing Dave in his natural element with Mark and Josh looking like they just came from a Tractor Supply store.
I was thinking they just came from the farm but tractor supply store works...same general idea.
Almost wish dave Grohl's was a full time member hes a great frontman but a stony face killer of a drummer, fucking BEAST
Lanegan's voice is like sand paper and the part where he just throws that fuck it in there is so smooth its like it was meant to be love it!
But it was meant to be
Lanegan with QOTS always got me pumped up. Great match
This has got to be their best live performance ever.
I love the juxtaposition of Mark and Josh calmly nodding to the beat during the heavy-ass outro while the pit goes ballistic. RIP Lanegan!
Sadly this set up will never happen again: Dave, Mark, Nick, Troy and Josh on the same stage
we must be happy that it happened !

Mark's voice. Impeccable for this song. Amazing. Rip. Brutha
Marks stage presence was so powerful. not talking to the crowd and riding with the vibes. man was a jedi

I agree! Grohl's phenomenal drum performance will never compare..
